Chapter 49

Book:The Alpha's Hot Chase After Divorce Published:2025-2-25

Logan’s POV.
It was a cold Friday night, the least expected night to be this cold as it has been sunny throughout the day.
I was super excited knowing that all that was left for Alicia Carlson was to resume work as my personal assistant.
I was now the only surviving son of my father, the most powerful Alpha in New Kingston and as his rightful heir now, despite the fact that I was just 18 years old was that, he would teach me the ways of an Alpha and also, how to run his empire, the Bohen’s Bureau, so that when he is gone, power doesn’t fall into the hands of another.
He was completely against me choosing a nobody, a lowlife girl who had no better background or prior experience to the position of a personal assistant but then, it was my choice to decide now because he never wanted to watch me lose interest in taking after his empire.
It was meant to be a private burial as we finally laid Liam Bohen to rest. And the same way he was gone, Amber was gone too without a trace.
I dialed her line as I told her to come straight to the house as today was a special day.
I never made mention about what special day it was as I wanted her racing down here to begin her duty as my personal assistant.
“Be dressed in black, a flowery black hat too and black heels. From today, you get to have a personal ride to and fro on working days so get ready, your driver will be there soon and this isn’t some nerdy day, he will give you the dress I got for you!!” I said and at that, I ended the call as I wore my dress.
A black shirt properly tucked inside my black trouser and then a black jacket and a black plain suit and finally, a black heavy coat and then a papa’s cap, those types of caps worn during the early 1990s, the Shelby kinda cap.
On Monday, I will be moving into Liam’s office and I had the best plans already and I’ll be doing a thorough cleaning in the office.
I was more interested in the bureau than in the position of an Alpha as I knew being interested in it could still qualify me to becoming Alpha but then, Liam had a completely different approach. All he ever wanted was the position of an Alpha and little interest in the things of the Bureau which was able to fetch me a little love from my father but now, I had it all.
I was now the heir to the throne and also to the empire.
The house was filled up as all the family members were present and should I say, our entourage was mad.
Fifteen lined up black cars and they were heavily guided with their holster that was visible as well and there were few cops around for protection as well and to secure the perimeter from any journalist or some f*cking annoying bloggers.
I exhaled sharply as I looked at the mirror before stepping out and the moment I stepped out, their eyes all fell on me. It wasn’t any more news that I was now the heir to the throne and sooner or later, I would be their Alpha.
Alicia arrived and all the eyes turned to her as she walked down to where I stood with some elders and also, my father.
My father pulled me in, “What in God’s name is she doing here, Logan? Are you insane?” He said in a whisper whilst maintaining a smiley face.
“You have nothing to worry about, father. I wanted to introduce her to you, Alicia Carlson.”
“Your personal assistant and also, it’s obvious you are having a crush on her as well.” He said as he rolled his eyes. “Today is your brother’s day and we agreed to keep it family. Look around us, do you see any outsider here?” He queried.
“Sooner or later, I will be Alpha.”
“An Alpha who breaks the family code?” He snapped as he looked at me.
“Like I said, you have nothing to worry about, father.” I smiled as Othello and Alicia got to where I stood with the elders.
“Meet Alicia Carlson. Consider her as family.” I said with a broad smile as she greeted them and they reciprocated her smile as well and right after that, I excused myself as I took a stroll outside the house with Alicia alone.
“Why is everyone dressed in black? Is everything alright?” She asked as I looked at her.
I felt this childlike excitement in me as I looked at her. I still couldn’t figure out why exactly I was attracted to her.
**************
We all entered our different cars as we drove down and I saw the curiosity that kept on building on her face as she was curious to know where exactly an entire family was going.
We pulled over finally as we slowed down as we drove into a cemetery and right now, I saw the fear that subdued her curiosity.
We drove for a while as we finally got to the garage at the back of the small cathedral.
The shrieking sounds of ravens could be heard and it wasn’t a great view from the garage as most of the trees were barren. Just their branches and crooked shape and it was a full moon night as well.
The ambience was smokey and candles lit up the back of the cathedral. And in the four corners of the cathedral stood sculptures of a winged werewolf with horns as well, giving it a more gothic look.
I could hear her heartbeat get unsteady as she couldn’t explain what exactly was going on.
“Which burial is this?” She slurred as she looked at me.
I smiled at her as I looked away. “Liam Bohen.” I muttered.
“Liam Bohen!??” She exclaimed in shock.
