Chapter 48

Book:The Alpha's Hot Chase After Divorce Published:2025-2-25

Rex’s POV.
And just as expected, I drove into my apartment as I saw the cops in their vehicle.
“Oh! There they are!!” Clark snapped as he drew my attention to their parked car at the other end of the garage.
I raised my eyebrows as I saw Jack who leaned on the front of the car as he was smoking, giving off all these mafia men looks.
I parked in and the moment they spotted me, they stepped down from the car and Jack, he remained unmoved in his position as he continued with his cigarette.
He finally threw it to the ground as he crushed it with his right shoe. “Oh! Here you are.” He said with a grin on his face.
He walked up close to me as he looked me right into my eyes.
“Here to put those cuffs on me?” I scoffed as I brushed off my nose with my right thumb.
“An early big business deal? That sounds new and smart of you!!” He said as he looked at me.
“I play strategic business. I have been keeping tabs on The Eleven for years now and I knew it was the right time to make an offer and there we go, a successful deal.” I scoffed as I looked at my wrist watch.
“I have got some real important tasks to attend to and if you don’t mind, I have to leave now.” I said with a frown this time around as he was not close to intimidating me.
I walked away as Clark followed me up close. It was completely a tiring morning for him as I had to play a pretty smart move and I know mother was already in a hyper mood and ready to yell at me and scold me for taking such a move.
But then, that was a great move as I planned on reducing the staff by half and adding some awesome incentives to make them more hardworking while we generate extra money and also, pay less and the loan, that was also a great way to generating money which would also go into their life insurance as well as I was going to be fixing everything that wasn’t functioning properly that could cause damage and lead to casualty as well.
“Are you insane, Rex? I woke up to news of you buying The Eleven. Did you know how much it cost the firm?” She growled angrily as she gave me those glares.
“Not all yet, we signed a contract and the other branches in other cities are currently controlled by both families and within a year of partnership, if we are unable to acquire the other three branches, we would give out the New Kingston branch back to them as well as the others. That was the only way out of the mess!!” I said in a calm voice as I looked at her.
“What mess, Rex!?” She yelled as she arranged her hair.
She was still wearing her pajamas and her eyes still looked heavy.
“Some cops came in yesterday evening. I was the prime suspect in the death of Liam Bohen and his beta, Pedro.” I muttered as I looked away.
“What!? Liam Bohen is dead? How come it never made it to the media?” She queried as she was still unable to comprehend the news.
“Heard Alphonso ordered that it never made it to the media. He wants a private burial and also, he is enraged as well.”
“He ought to be. You better stay out of trouble and focus on why you left Cleveland to New Kingston for. Don’t forget the sole reason for your departure.” She scowled as she looked at me.
“Good morning, Alice!!” Clark greeted me excitedly and I just knew what he was about to say next.
I still couldn’t understand why they were this close but then, it was something that couldn’t go unnoticed.
“Oh! How are you, Clark? I hope you’re taking good care of Rex!?”
“Of course.”
“I can see that. He’s finally looking healthy.” She teased as Clark laughed.
“Do you remember The Eleven?” He asked as he looked at her and her eyes went wide with curiosity.
“Okay, mother, I’ll keep in touch with you some other time. Love you!!” I blew kisses multiple times in an effort to interrupt Clark and also keep her distracted.
And even before she could respond to me I ended the call as I closed my iPad.
“Are you being serious right now? At least you would have let me share the beautiful news with her before ending the call.” He said as he furrowed his eyebrows.
“There’s absolutely nothing to talk about. About me being Elena’s boss now at The Eleven? Oh, rub it off. Didn’t you see the way she was looking at me? It’s obvious she would only despise me more for becoming her boss.” I snapped as I stepped out of the room.
“How about we go out and have a little celebration? We both know that within half a year, we can finalize everything and be the only owners of the hotel and resort. The firm makes a whole hell of a lot of money monthly and within six months, we can buy off everything.” He said as he looked at me, grinning from chin to chin.
“That would be tonight. For now, I’m famished, I need to eat something and maybe, drive down to go see how my two little adorable angels are doing.” I snapped as I entered the kitchen in search of anything I could eat.
Clark just wouldn’t stop being a pest to me today as he kept on following me around and talking about The Eleven Hotel and Resort.
I never thought of it not until around 1a. m and it was later I realized that Elena was working there. All I was thinking about was escaping jail only to fall right into the reach of the one woman I was slowly getting obsessed with again.
“Would this bring us closer or will our chances of getting together go down the drain?”
