Chapter 41

Book:The Alpha's Hot Chase After Divorce Published:2025-2-25

Rex’s POV.
I wore my black shorts that were right above my knees and a black big hoodie as I arranged my wavy blonde hair.
Tonight? All I wanted was a perfect evening walk and then, a roadside meal for dinner with the one man I could trust with my life, Clark.
“I guess we rockin’ the streets of New Kingston today.” He said with a broad smile as he wore a hoodie and slightly baggy black joggers that had thin white lines on both sides.
“So how long do you intend to stay outdoors this evening?” He asked as we approached the door.
“Late night!!” I responded with a smirk.
“Huh?” He gasped, turning back to look at me. “What do you mean by late night?” He questioned. “You know I love home-made dishes, especially when it comes to breakfast and lunch!?” He scowled as he gave me those looks of disapproval.
“Come on, Clark. Just a night eating outside won’t cause any harm.” I jeered, tilting my lips as I raised my eyebrows.
“What restaurant do you have in mind?” He asked.
I could see the stern disapproval written all over his face but there was absolutely no way I would sit back at home.
It was 4p. m and I had no plans of coming back here till it was 12a. m.
“Road…side!?” I slurred as I forced out a grin.
“Are you being serious right now? A roadside meal as dinner?” He groaned as he stared at me. “Are you really sure about that? I think we should just take a walk and get back early enough to eat some home-made real sh! t!!.” He suggested with a broad smile on his face now.
I smiled back at him as I held the door knob. “Don’t you think we better be on our way out already?” I smirked as I looked at him.
“Let the Alpha lead.” He grinned as he stretched out his right hand like he was ushering me out to the best spot in a big event.
I shook my head as I opened the door and we paused for a while as we turned to look at each other for the last time before saying a word to our 4 manly guests that were almost about banging the door before I opened it.
“Hel…lo Misters!!” I greeted them in a slurred tone as I wasn’t expecting them to do as quickly and early as this.
Few minutes ago I got informed that I was the prime suspect for the murder of Pedro and Liam Bohen and now, four hefty looking cops were at the front of my apartment door.
Their serious faces didn’t scare me a bit as the only thing I felt inside was nothing other than paranoia as they were about ruining my beautifully planned evening.
“Good day, Mr. Rex.”
The man with scanty hair who seemed to be their head greeted while the rest remained silent and scanning everywhere including me like they were sizing me up.
“My name is Jack Smith. I am the police chief in charge of this place.” He said, looking around the lobby like it was just where he handles. His office card was almost on my face as he had it raised up to my face as well.
“Ohhh… yeah, Officer. Smith. How can I be of help to you?” I questioned as he looked at me.
I wore a straight face as I could loudly hear the ticking clock and every ticking sound did nothing but provoke me the most.
“We just have a few questions for you.” He muttered as he stared at me and my eyes were completely fixed to his too, as to what I felt right now was to give him a death punch.
I opened the door wide, ushering them inside my apartment and they kept looking around like they came here finding out evidence that would prove that I was the killer behind the deaths.
I rolled my eyes as I slammed the door hard, gaining their attention as they looked at me in defense.
“So, how can I be of help?” I asked as I sat down opposite them.
“I heard you are a powerful Alpha all the way from Cleveland and not just any powerful Alpha, you are the CEO of a multimillion empire. You know, I began Wondering what exactly brought you here.”
“Business!!” I snapped in immediately as I looked at them.
“What business, if I may ask, Mr. Rex?”
“I’m seeking business expansion.” I answered him coldly this time around.
“Then, can you explain these photos?” Jack threw a brown envelope on the table and the pictures partially got out.
“What? How is this possible??” I gasped within as I quickly looked at Clark who was also confused as I was too.
“How did they get pictures of the day I had first confronted him?” And the pictures, it wasn’t a friendly one as I was almost transforming to my wolf.
And to worsen the whole thing, the camera also captured my red eyes.
“Will you say you were just protecting a barmaid?” He grinned as he looked at me. “This is more than you being a gentleman here.” He scoffed as he used his index finger to pin my red eyes in the photograph.
“This? This looks like some old vendettas. And I have been thinking that you came to New Kingston because of the Bohen’s family.” He scowled, wearing a frown as he looked right into my eyes.
Something was definitely going on behind the open. Someone was trying to frame me up. Who could it be? I wrapped my right hand in a fist as I heard my wolf growling already and my eyes, they were almost turning red and Clark just wouldn’t leave my head as well.
“Don’t do it!! Control yourself, Rex. They are trying to make you act up. Play cool.” He said in a calm and soothing voice which happened to slow down my temper.
“But who could it be? Who was pulling these stunts on me?”
