Rex POV.
I jolted up from the sofa chair I had slept on throughout the night as my phone rang repeatedly.
Clark yawned as he rubbed his eyes as he squinted them like he was trying to read. The sun was piercing through the curtains which lit the room.
“How come I slept here?” He muttered as he got up from the table. “Did you use alcohol in your pasta?” He scowled as he rubbed his eyes again and opened them wider this time around.
My phone rang again and this time, I had to search who the caller was. It was my mother. “Why was she calling?” I scowled as I rubbed my eyes before picking up the call.
“Are you okay? Why do you look so tattered?” She sneered as she wore her glasses. “Have you been drinking, Rex?” She queried as she frowned her face.
“No, not at all, mother!!” I responded in a defensive tone as I sat upright.
“Don’t tell me you are just waking up!?” She scowled angrily this time around.
“Definitely yes!!” I rolled my eyes as I yawned.
“Is this you plan on getting her back? You should be up already and thinking of how to have her change her mind. I want her back here and not just her, I want my grandchildren too, Rex. Act like a man and get this done quickly!!” She frowned as she looked at me.
“And how did it end yesterday? Did she later change her mind when you drove her back to her apartment?” She questioned as I furrowed my eyebrows.
“Seriously, mom?” I snapped as I shook my head in disapproval. “I promise, I promise I will beat you up once I’m done with this call.” I cursed as I looked at Clark.
“I’m not a kid anymore, mom. Clark is my beta, right?” I asked her.
“Of course, he is!!” She responded.
“So, can you stop making it seem like I have a babysitter at home who is babysitting me.” I scowled as I frowned.
“I would have entrusted you with keeping me updated but no way, you will definitely keep a lot of important things from me.” She sneered as she looked right into my eyes.
“So, when were you planning to let me know that you invited my beautiful looking Elena for dinner?” She queried as she looked at me.
“I was definitely going to tell you, mother.” I furrowed my eyebrows as I looked at Clark who was now halfway through sleeping again.
“And how about you telling me how you saved her from Liam Bohen who tried taking advantage of her?” She scoffed as she smirked.
“Really, mom?” I exhaled sharply. “What else are you aware of?” I scowled angrily.
“You are not leaving New Kingston until you get to convince her to return to the pack with you.” She said in a calm voice as she sipped the coffee that was on her table.
“She still hates me. I see it when I look right into her eyes.” I groaned this time around.
“Were you expecting her to jump on your body the moment you found her. You have to keep trying and proving to her that you really love her and genuinely want her back.” She said as she looked at me.
“She said they are safe here. She doesn’t feel it will be safe letting me into our kid’s life. And she is stubborn, she’s stubborn about it.” I sneered.
“She has always been that way. You broke her badly, so you have to also give her the time and keep trying.” She said as she smiled at me.
“For how long, mom? I have a company to take care of.” I muttered.
“And before you became the CEO of this company, I was once in charge of this company and when you took over it, you took it in its glory days. So what makes you feel I can’t still watch over the company?” She scowled as she moved her eyeglass.
“This is difficult, mother. How can I fix this? How can I fix us?” I shrugged coldly as I looked at her.
“Give her time. Give her time, Rex. I heard you have been seeing her kids at school. Don’t let anything discourage you, okay? And, come on, get a little romantic and always let her know why she needs to return to the pack with your kids. You have found her which means, sooner or later, your rivals will soon be chasing after them. I don’t want any harm to come near my grandchildren.” She replied.
“But then, she feels returning to the pack will only expose them to more dangers.” I scowled.
“Then I think if you can’t get her to change her mind, then I will come to New Kingston myself to get her myself.” She growled lightly.
“What? Hell no!! A day without you in the company is risky.” I snapped immediately. I need to convince Elena. There was no way I was going to leave New Kingston without them. I exhaled sharply.
“I will call you back, son. I have an executive meeting to attend now with the executives. And, I also heard about what happened to Liam Bohen. You better be careful now. You should never mess with the Bohen’s family!!” She said in a calm tone as I nodded my head.
I got up as I looked at Clark who was still asleep. I went inside as I showered and then drove off.
“Do I get the chance to fix our broken relationship? Will she even listen to my mother if she were to come down to New Kingston?”
“How would they react to the news of me being their biological father? Not like they had a foster father but what did she tell them about their father?”
I parked at the parking lot as I sat down inside my car as I watched everything that went on. I was used to this now, I was used to coming down here every day and watching Kanu and Kiana during their school hours.
