Rex’s POV.
“Hey, uhmm… Elena.” A young boy probably the same age as Elena walked up to the counter as he looked at her, smiling widely at her as he maintained eye contact with her.
“I am Liam. Liam Bohen.” He introduced himself as he still wore that broad smile on his face.
I felt this jealousy creeping in as I watched how flirtatious he was acting around her.
I felt my wolf growling lightly.
“I noticed you when I came in. You know, I could talk to your manager and maybe, I could drop a big tip for you so he can let you have some little fun tonight.” He muttered.
“Who does he think he is?” I growled angrily as I looked at them.
“Uhmm… maybe we could dance, then join my friends and swim a little and we get to know ourselves and all that, you know?” He said as he bit his lower lip.
“Such harlotry!!” I scowled, cursing as I wished I could just tear him apart right now.
“Uhmm… I… I’m sorry to disappoint you. I can’t join you in a dance or go swimming with you.” She responded as she smiled. “I am okay here.” She smiled.
“Is anything the matter?” Gusto stepped out again as he rested on the counter, looking at the young boy, probably a year below twenty.
I hated his audacity as much as I hated him already. “How could he get close to my mate? How could he even flirt with her?” I could hear my wolf scowling.
I wrapped my fingers trying to control my anger as I looked at him. My claws were already becoming visible.
“Uhmm… it’s nothing. You know, I was just asking if I could tip her off for the night. I just couldn’t stop staring at her.” He said confidently as he looked at Gusto.
“Okay, boy. You could gently walk back to where you were or I have the security take you out. You don’t tip off my workers!!” Gusto growled.
And for some minutes, I felt this happiness as he sent the boy away but then, it was short-lived and now, I had questions running through my head.
“Here!!” He dropped a card on the counter as he looked at Gusto with a smirk, or should I say, with a mischievous smile. “No one turns down the request of a Bohen?” He sneered as he turned to leave.
“Liam Bohen?” Gusto called back in shock. “I never knew you were the son of Alphonso. My deepest apologies.” He quickly apologized.
He turned to Elena as he yelled at her which only provoked my wolf the more.
“Are you deaf? Get your apron and go with him!!” He snarled, yelling at her as people turned to the counter.
“But…” Elena tried talking but she was cut short by Gusto.
“I will take this as you are no longer interested in your job anymore!!” He snarled as he gave her a deadly glare.
He held her as he dragged off her apron and pushed her out of the counter, “You won’t put me into any trouble, young lady.”
She shut her eyes as she tripped down but then, there was absolutely no way I could sit back and watch anyone treat her badly.
“Never!” I snapped.

Elena’s POV.
I couldn’t maintain my balance as I tripped down. I shut my eyes tight, accepting my fate that I was definitely going to incur some bruises.
I expected Rex to stand up for me but then, I guess that was never part of his plans as he looked away, ignoring me and whatever was going on.
I fell into the strong arms of someone with an unfamiliar scent. The masculine scent was definitely not that of Liam Bohen who as of the moment, I had no single idea of who he was and who Alphonso was but I could tell from his scent, and From his accent and from his arrogance that he was definitely from a wealthy family and also, a werewolf as well.
My heart paused for a while in embarrassment as I opened my eyes gently to see those green piercing eyes, they belonged to Rex. My heart flustered as I blushed. I felt my wolf sprawling all over my mind again being in his arms.
“He saved me!! He caught me!!” She went on jumping all over making me more nervous and a little bit difficult to breathe.
He looked right inside my eyes and I could hear his heartbeat unsteadily too.
“Was he also nervous? Was he also experiencing this intense feeling as I was experiencing too?”
He supported me back to my feet as he looked at Liam and then Gusto. I could see the rage lurking behind those beautiful green eyes and I felt safe being next to him right now.
For five years, five years being without him I had always stood up for myself or Marie took it upon herself to defend me at cost even if it meant indulging in a petty fight.
I felt safe standing next to him and him flaring up already.
“How dare… you disrespect my…” He paused as he rolled his eyes.
My heart flustered as I waited to hear the last word but then, he quickly rephrased his statement which made my heart drop immediately but then, I wished things never changed.
“And how is that your business?” Gusto yelled at him and before he could say another word, Rex had pinned him on the wall as his legs were a few inches above the ground.
He trembled as Rex’s eyes turned red and without wasting a minute, he began begging as Rex threw him away as he crashed down on the floor, groaning bitterly.
I saw the fear in Liam’s eyes as Rex turned to him. “And you, run!!” He growled lightly and Liam turned to leave. “Here!!” He called him back as he handed over his card back to him. “Bohen’s request was declined.” He shrugged as he used his index and middle finger to signal him off.
I felt proud, I felt happy, and I felt the butterflies increase in my belly.
“Was he really here in New Kingston because of me? Why was he being overprotective?” I queried as I watched him walk away.
