Chapter 18

Book:The Alpha's Hot Chase After Divorce Published:2025-2-25

Rex’s POV.
“You won’t believe it, Madame!!” Clark snapped as he sat down on the swivel chair.
“So, here it is and how the perfect reunion went.” He snapped as Alice sat down on her swivel chair in her wide office in the King’s Real Estate Company.
She had this broad smile on as Clark was only being dramatic again.
“So, there was this guy, he walked up to the counter and you know what he said?” He asked as he got up from the swivel chair.
“No! What did he say.?” Alice responded in a split of a second as she looked at Clark.
She smiled broadly as I couldn’t stop admiring her well arranged Auburn hair. I still couldn’t get how Clark turned from a high school friend to my beta and then, to a son and I hate when they plot behind my back.
But then, that wasn’t something I should be worried about because he was my most trusted ally.
“Hey, uhmm… Elena.”
“Liam. Liam Bohen.”
“I noticed you when I came in. You know, I could talk to your manager and maybe, I could drop a big tip for you so he can let you have some little fun tonight.”
“Uhmm… maybe we could dance, then join my friends and swim a little and we get to know ourselves and all that, you know?”
Clark mimicked him perfectly as he rested his hand on the air, trying to perfectly replicate Liam’s hand on the counter.
“You know, Madam Alice? You would have loved to hear how confident and how arrogant he was as he was talking. I must say, he felt on top of the moon.”
They both chuckled and I got pissed off even more as Alice got more interested in whatever Clark was demonstrating to her.
I get that she had missed her daughter in-law but hell no, this was mockery to me. I rolled my eyes as I continued reading the business magazine I had ordered from Amazon.
“And then guess what next. The man in charge of the bar stepped out. I would have loved to give him a death blow.” He cursed.
“Here was it, this was how he came in.” He said and then, changed his tone and accent of his voice like he was an Italian now.
“Is anything the matter?”
“Okay, boy. You could gently walk back to where you were or I have the security take you out. You don’t tip off my workers!!” Gusto growled.
“He sent the boy threatening him as well and then, the boy dropped a card and he instantly panicked. And guess what he did next after knowing who the boy was?” He asked and my mother answered again in a split of a second as she was already laughing so hard.
“He threatened Elena that she was going to lose her job and pushed her away and she went off tripping and she closed her eyes. You know, like all those novellas?” He chuckled as he continued. “And before I could even get up on my feet, she fell.”
“Fell?” Alice growled, frowning almost immediately.
“No. No. I actually meant, she fell in the arms of Rex. He caught her and there he was, his beast mode automatically activated as he growled at the manager and the man trembled and he sent the boy away and guess what he said?” He asked Alice who was already chuckling now and wearing a broad smile.
“Bohen’s request was declined.” He concluded as they both laughed but then, it was short-lived as mother wore a frown as she snapped.
“Bohen?” She queried, drawing my attention to the video call as I was already curious to know who exactly he was the son of and who Alphonso Bohen was.
“Yeah, Bohen!!” Clark replied in a serious tone now as he knew this was now a serious business.
“Alphonso Bohen. A red and black card?” She asked further.
I got up from the sofa as I dropped the magazine I was reading. “Yes, who is he, mother?” I growled angrily as my eyes glistened with rage.
“A powerful Alpha and a powerful pack. No one ever turns down his request. And if you do…”
I wasn’t interested in whatever she had to say. I knew what was going to be your fate when you turned down his request. I rushed down to the key holder as I grabbed the key as I entered my car, driving off.
*******************************
Elena’s POV.
I still couldn’t stop thinking about him. There was absolutely no way I would easily forget how he defended me last night. And up till now, I could still feel my wolf who remained sprawled.
I couldn’t help it. It was one of my most beautiful nights ever since I stepped into New Kingston five years ago.
And now, my heart cringed to know that I had slapped him a week ago. I wished I could make up for the night or even apologize when he had saved me last night from going to a dance with a boy that I was obviously, maybe, older than or the same age with and also saving me from that abusive moment.
“I noticed you have been smiling since you got back from work. Is everything alright? Or did you, uhmm… have a fling with some rich New Kingston locals or maybe, some rich, seductive tourist?” She snapped as she looked at me..
“Hell no, definitely not. I am just happy about the work.” I snapped as I looked at her, smiling effortlessly.
“Huh? Shocking though. Just a day before yesterday you complained how you wished you got a different job that won’t have you sleep out at night away from your kids and now you’re happy for the job. Is the “you had a night shift last night?” Or “you just suddenly love the job after you remembered your monthly salary?” She scoffed as she helped me with the cleaning.
“Come on, stop!!” I blushed as I rolled my eyes.
“Was I falling in love with him again?”
