Levi froze in his steps as Sara’s loud moan filled the room and Kai’s eyes widened with interest.
He turned around, hands closing into fists as he stalked back to the shower cubicle. He jerked the shower curtain into place to hide Sara, not wanting Kai to see any more of her naked body than he already had.
“What was that?” he demanded, doing his best to keep his rage under control. Why would she make such a sound when another man was watching? Did she fancy Kai? She had stopped him from touching her, but the moment Kai showed up at the door, she let out that obscene sound.
The idea of his mate wanting some other male, being touched by another male… No. He would never let it happen. He would rather not have a mate at all, than have one who fancied other men.
When she had refused to listen to him in the forest, he had overlooked that. Normally, he hated it when someone disobeyed him. But he had let her off, because they had just met.
But now, she was really pushing it. Not only had she pushed him, her mate, away, but she was also seducing another man.
If he couldn’t have her, he definitely wasn’t going to share her with anyone.
He wasn’t going to have a chippie for a mate.
She was better off dead to him.
“I…I…” she stammered, “I didn’t mean…”
“Did you want him to hear you?” he asked in a low growl.
She shook her head rapidly. “Of course not. I…”
“You what?” he demanded.
He had no idea what kind of explanation he was looking for. She had turned him away, and the moment Kai appeared at the door, she released that sound. There was only one reason for that.
“Wait, what’s going on here?” Kai’s voice filtered into the room, full of equal parts curiosity and mischief.
“Fuck off,” Levi bit back at him, “or I’m going to throw you out.”
“I live here too,” Kai said, stepping closer. “You have no right to throw me out. Say, little wolf, if you already had arrangements with Levi, you should have let me know, instead of acting like an uptight-”
His words died in his throat as Levi turned around and grabbed the neck of his sweater. His eyes were full of danger as he gritted out, “Leave.”
Kai blinked. He knew Levi had anger issues that often ended in the death of whoever was standing in his way, but he had never seen him this mad.
Why would he be so-
Oh.
Oh no.
Even as he stared his possible death in the face, Kai couldn’t stop the smile that took over the lower half of his face. “She…she is your mate?”
Levi growled, then shoved him, sending him stumbling backwards. He barely managed to keep his balance and avoid stumbling to the floor.
His eyes moved from the shower curtain, behind which Sara was hiding, to Levi. “Your…your mate is some useless Omega? You, the great Levi? Holy smokes, this is interesting.”
Levi’s anger shot to new heights as Kai’s mocking laughter continued.
As if he needed reminding that an Omega was breaking all of his rules. That his mate was an Omega who shamelessly seduced other men.
He turned back to her, ready to get rid of her and forget she had ever crossed his path.
He didn’t foresee the strong resistance that came from his wolf.
“I won’t kill our mate,” his mate said, his tone grumpy and resolute. “Haven’t you had enough killing for one day?”
“You want a tramp for a mate?” Levi demanded through their mind link.
“She is not like that. She cannot control her desire, and you were walking away from her. I would have done the same.”
“You talk as if you know her.”
“I know she’s our mate, and that’s enough. You don’t even know her name, and you’re already jumping to conclusions.”
“Well, it’s not enough for her! Didn’t you hear what she said? She doesn’t even want me!”
“All you have to do is get to know her-”
“I’m not interested,” Levi snapped, taking the last step that brought him back into the shower cubicle with Sara.
“Do. Not. Harm. Her.”
Levi grind his teeth together, annoyed at his wolf’s insistence. Usually, they had the same mind about things. If somebody stood in their way, there was only one course of action-destroy them and forget about them.
So, why is it that he was being difficult about her?
As Sara watched Levi have an obvious internal dialogue with his wolf, she was reminded of the incident with Christian on the cafeteria rooftop.
In two days, she had found two mates, and each of them wanted to kill her. How was she to explain that she couldn’t control her wolf’s desire? She was so going to scold Edna later…if she was still alive.
“He is not going to hurt us,” Edna said, as if she was in his mind and could see what was going on in there.
“His wolf is probably as mad as him,” Sara said. “Did you see how he killed that rogue with a single strike back in the forest? He’s probably used to killing without a second thought.”
“I can feel it,” Edna said. “His wolf doesn’t want to hurt us.”
Sara wished with every breath that Edna was right.
“I’ll leave her alone,” Levi told his wolf. “For now. If I find out she is a tramp, not even you can stop me.”
Without another word, he turned around and stormed out of the bathroom.
Kai went after him, shaking his head. “Dude, you have the worst luck. Of all the Omega’s in the world? What will people say when they find out the great Levi of Silver Creek had Blood Moon’s outcast for a mate?”
“Shut up,” Levi grouched, heading straight for his bedroom.
Grinning, Kai went in search of Christian to tell him of Levi’s misfortune.
