Tilda found it hard to believe how such an understanding mother could have given birth to an unreasonable son like Johnny…
She took a moment to compose herself and smiled at Mrs. Chow. “Mrs. Chow, there seems to be a bit of a misunderstanding between Johnny and me!”
“He told me!” Mrs. Chow said as she pulled Tilda down onto the sofa, her tone laced with exasperation. “My son really doesn’t have the best personality, and he must have annoyed you quite a bit! It’s partly our fault. His father and I have been so busy with work that we haven’t had time to take care of him. He’s been studying abroad alone for years, and he’s picked up some bad habits like smoking and drinking.”
“But don’t worry! Johnny’s not a bad kid.” Mrs. Chow sighed deeply when it came to her son. “This morning, he told me he saw you having dinner with a friend and that he hit the guy! His father and I gave him a good scolding, and we sent someone to check on your friend at the hospital. Once he gets off work, I’ll take him to apologize to your friend! Please don’t be angry. You two shouldn’t break up over something like this. My son really likes you!”
“No, it’s not like that…”
“The request you made about transferring his assets to you is something Johnny’s father and I fully support! He needs to be kept in line! We’ve wanted to discipline him for a while now, but we didn’t have anything that could really threaten him. Now that you’re here, we feel relieved!”
Mrs. Chow could clearly see that her son was genuinely interested in this girl.
A mother knew her child best. She was aware of her son’s lifestyle filled with unreasonable friends and reckless partying. But knowing about it and being able to control it were two different things. He always claimed those were just social obligations.
Now, if someone could help him settle down, that would be fantastic! Thinking about this, Mrs. Chow couldn’t help but clap her hands in joy!
“Go get washed up, and then let’s head to the bank! I’ve scheduled an appointment with the bank manager.”
At this, Tilda quickly waved her hands.
After hesitating for a moment, she couldn’t find a more delicate way to phrase it, so she decided to be straightforward.
“Mrs. Chow, Johnny and I… We’re not dating!”
Although she felt that what Mrs. Chow said made sense and could see that Johnny’s parents were sincere, she couldn’t just marry Johnny because of that!
It was utterly ridiculous!
“Wait… What?” Mrs. Chow was taken aback, clearly not expecting Tilda to drop such a bombshell.
Mr. Chow frowned as well, straightening up to look at her.
Tilda felt awkward, caught in a difficult position.
She couldn’t exactly say that she and Johnny simply slept together, that she only wanted to know what their son tasted like, and that she hadn’t planned on taking responsibility!
The situation turned out to be far more unexpected than she had anticipated!
“I went to Sweden to visit a friend, and since my friend was busy, she asked Johnny to look after me. That’s all we have between us.”
Dating was out of the question.
“That can’t be right! Johnny said you two were together, and that you were the one who made the first move… Ah, no, that’s not what I meant! I just thought you liked Johnny too!” Mrs. Chow stammered.
“Mrs. Chow, I just see him as a friend. Johnny might have misunderstood.”
Mrs. Chow exchanged a glance with her husband, clearly confused about the situation.
After a moment, Mr. Chow said to his wife in a low voice, “You should call that brat and find out what’s really going on.”
