“Our first guess was that she was hemorrhaging” the surgeon said to me.
He looked uncertain, as if talking to me was breaking some protocols.
“Are you sure are the patient’s fiance?” He asked me.
I didn’t know how many times I had to confirm the fact, I was not with any evidence and she was not wearing her engagement ring. My reason for being here and not knowing she was here at all was one reason why they doubted me.
“I thought she was t home” I said, my voice was breaking up once again. “So was she actually hemorrhaging?”
“No, we thought it was a miscarriage. When we finally examined her, we saw that the Fetus had attached itself to the wall of her womb. We see it occasionally, but her bleeding was extreme because of stress, if it gets heavier it’s likely to lead to a miscarriage” thean said.
I still wasn’t settled, I had a million questions to ask him but I let him continue without interrupting.
“Is she partaking in a rigourous activity?”
I shook my head.
“I she exercising? She looks extremely fit”
“She’s a model but no, she’s no longer going to the gym. She stopped ”
“Why? She looks familiar. I knew I just have seen her somewhere. In a movie ”
“She quit because of me, I have to be honest with you. I’m very selfish and when she was in the ER I prayed to God that if she comes out perfectly fine, I’ll stop being selfish. I’ll stop lying, I’ll be more… Nice ”
The doctor’s lips curled upwards.
“I think the bleeding was bad because of me”
“Why do you think so?”
“We had sex today and I tied her up”
If the man was shocked by my confession, he didn’t show it.
“The rigorous activity I was talking about, that’s it right there. Can you, cut back on sex for a while?”
“Do I look like I’m sex crazed?”
“No, I was just wondering. If you can cut back on sex for some weeks, then please do. She is fine, the Fetus is perfectly healthy from what we observed. She should rest. If she starts bleeding again, please see a doctor immediately ”
“I can do that, she’ll rest”
That was it. Jenna is fine, yet my mind couldn’t believe it yet. I saw her unconscious. I walked out of the office and the hallway was empty, the tourist was supposed to be sitting on one of the four chairs.
Maybe he left.
I looked around and I sneaked in through the door. They wouldn’t let me see her but I couldn’t hold back. I opened the last door, the one Jenna was in and I saw the tourist sitting on a chair smiling at he and she was smiling back.
They were talking animatedly, with their hands and heads. She was sitting on the bed with her legs crossed over in a yoga pose.
“Tokyo!” She yelled and the tourist nodded.
He leaned closer to her and said.
“It would be a bliss”
“I want to go to Tokyo”
She turned to the door and her eyes met mine, instantly.
She squinted her eyes.
“Dean, is it me or is very attractive man standing in the door?”
The tourist turned to the door and his eyes widened.
“He said he was your finance, do you know him?”

I didn’t speak yet, Christian came running towards me. I closed my eyes expecting the impact of his hug ti hit me like a trailer. But, it wasn’t though as I had expected. It was soft.
He hugged me, affectionately.
Dean’s eyes softened.
“I’ll be waiting in the hallway ” he said and he left the room.
“Hey, I’m fine ” I said patting his back.
He hadn’t said anything, hadn’t even made a sound.
“What were you doing there?” He asked me immediately he broke out of the hug.
I reached out and cleaned the silver lining his eyes.
He took my hand and kissed it.
“I was looking for you”
“Didn’t you know how dangerous it would have been”
“I knew, I-I needed to find you, the urge was greater than my fear of being mugged or killed in a new city”
“You’re crazy”
“And you thought you were the only one? I went crazy for you the moment I laid eyes on you”
I laughed but more tears slipped down his cheeks.
“I’m fine”
He shook his head.
“Christian, I’m fine”
“I’m not fine. It’s not about me, but I found out that I went too hard on you today, that’s why you started bleeding”
“I’ve been having these sharp pains for days now, I’m not sure you caused it”
“Why didn’t you say something?”
“I’m sorry ”
I knew it, I was difficult. That is what he wanted to say, that is what I would have said if I was in his position.
“I love you” he said instead. “I thought I lost you, you should have told me. You should have told me Jenna. You know that now you’re not just looking out for yourself ”
“I know ”
“Now no sex for you, for a whole month ”
He must be joking.
“You can’t be serious ”
“I am, doctor’s orders ” he said.
He was so serious, I didn’t know if I could argue with him, or try to bargain.
I wasn’t sex crazed until I met him and yet… I could go for week without sex, two weeks maybe but he’s asking for one month?
“Surely we don’t have to follow his orders, right?”
“Are you serious, Jenna?”
“Yes… Maybe just two weeks?”
“I’m not putting your life or the life of our baby in danger ”
There was no way to argue with him.
“Is the baby’s life really in danger if I have sex?”
“Not just sex. Exercise, anything that makes you stress yourself ”
“Why does that sound like you’re going to confine me to my bed?”
He smiled and I released the tension in my entire body got released, I didn’t even breathing too deep.
“You know me to well. The door said rest and that’s what you’ll do”
