EVOLET
I walked deeper into the woods all by myself, picking the scent of my enemies getting closer than ever.
Up straight ahead, I could see a figure standing in a clear opening, waiting patiently for me to come.
And that figure looked so much like Chriselda.
Yes, she’s the one. I can even tell from her scent.
“It’s like Cadell said,” I muttered while getting closer to her. “They won’t be together when we get there,” I finished his sentence before coming to a halt.
Between Christy and I was a big space to keep us away from each other, but it was enough to look into the eyes of the one who robbed me of my throne years back.
“Violet? Or is it Evolet?” She asked, staring at me with her face shifting into a light smile.
I didn’t respond to her question but asked, looking around the spot we where in, “Where are your buddies? Let me guess… hiding?” I smirked, tilting my head to the side.
“It’s all you ever do. Sneak behind someone and take them by surprise. Put a blade right behind their back and stab them! That’s the kind of person you are, Christy,” I said, painting her truth.
When she heard that, she sighed out and said, “I guess I’m talking to both.”
“I am just one, Genius.”
“And I won’t argue with you on that. Indeed…” Her hands came crossing in front, with her face displaying a sign of sympathy. “You are my Violet. Not just a stubborn Omega, but my friend.”
“You lost the right to call me that after what you did. You are the definition of Quisling!” I vented out, taking a step forward.
Chriselda hummed at that but didn’t make any move. She stood in her spot, staring back at me.
That’s when she said, bringing up the past, “I can still remember how you’ll take me around on some of your private meetings and make me do things that I always wanted, despite the difference in our position. It was your way of showing me how much you cared about me.”
I flashed to those times, but none of them gave me any feeling of happiness but rage and bitterness towards Christy.
“You did so many things for me, Violet. You were like my sister.” She gave out a sobbing sound, placing both hands on her chest.
“But that wasn’t enough.”
Her so-called sad face switched into the real one, presenting the monster within.
“You had such a perfect life. A gift from the goddess, powers, a beautiful talent to make every creatures unite, a perfect lover… All that life should have been mine, and not yours!” She barked, shimmering her wolf eyes at me.
“You gave me no choice, Violet. I had to do what was going to benefit me, and… and I succeeded.” She grinned, slowly shifting into her beast.
I didn’t flinch at her transformation, but stared back at this ungrateful old woman, yammering about her desire and greed to me.
“I got a taste of your power and I loved it so much! If that damned lover of yours hadn’t intervened, by now I’d have become the greatest ruler to walk the face of this earth! The whole creatures would be under my feet, begging for my mercy. But Cadell…” She growled, proaching at me.
“He ruined it all. He spoilt everything!”
“You can’t blame the man for falling crazy in love with me. He was just doing what any other lover in his place would have done for their mate. I’m sure Allen’s father would have… What am I saying? Who’s his father? Did you kill him to keep the throne to yourself?” I said with pride, irritating Christy’s eardrum.
She growled at my words, showing signs of envy and deep hate towards me. But I won’t stop myself from pointing out the truth to her.
“If you had stayed humble and appreciated the life I gave to you, you would have ended up having a better home. But what did you do? A crazy hag came into our land and instead of my Beta to get rid of her, she warmly welcomed her after that witch whispered sweet words into your ears to please your greedy heart!”
“And what about Cadell? You also welcomed him when the majority were against that Dark Blood staying in our land! If you had given Thelma that same treatment from the beginning…”
“Oh, don’t you dare compare Cadell with that snake. Her inner heart was never pure,” I said, taking a side walk to my right when I saw Chriselda making the same movement.
“I’m not called the spirit wolf for no reason, Christy. I can tell how one’s spirit flows when I’m close to them. Cadell looks dark from the outside, but his heart is as pure as honey from the inside. But in Thelma’s case…” I smirked, moving in circles with a raging wolf glaring back at me. “She looks innocent from the outside, but her spirit says the opposite.”
“You’re wrong about her.”
“If I wanted to, I would have taken her life that very day she stepped into Wolf fall. But you were the one who stopped me. You emotionally got me to leave that woman in the land, comparing her to the Vampires and Werecats.” I swayed my head, remembering how Chriselda manipulated me by using my love for every creatures to keep Thelma here.
“My love for you blinded me, otherwise I would have seen that my sister was long dead and replaced with evil. But now, it’s too late to turn the hands of time.” I came to halt when she did the same.
“I am not the Violet of old but Evolet of now. If I say you will no longer walk the face of this earth after tonight…” I took my position. “Then I’m damn serious,” I threatened, flashing my eyes.
That alone was enough to break Chriselda’s patience.
“Then we shall see who gets the last laugh!” She roared and came charging at me!
But she wasn’t my main focus. My attention was on the aura coming from behind.
Using my wolf speed, I moved out of Chriselda’s way and caught sight of another werewolf jumping right out from the bushes, with her claws sprang out, and with something black and glossy on the nails.
Recognizing Christy’s favorite damsel, I gave them both the welcome treatment. A knee to the jaw of Fiona, and for her majesty? She had a punch right in the face, sending her tumbling back from where she started.
“I have been longing to do that.” I cracked my knuckles, getting into action.
Both of them fought and tried to their best to tackle me down, forgetting who they were dealing with.
“You two are just the same. Birds of the same feathers!” My elbow slammed right into Fiona’s chest, as I positioned that same hand with force, and landed another punch right at Chriselda’s face.
She staggered back and spat out blood from her mouth, staring at the sight in rage.
“I will make you bleed worse than this!” She roared, coming back to grapple with me.
I took the effort of reminding them who the real Queen was among the three of us.
They need to learn that.
If I wanted to, I would have withered them both once and end it all, but I want to vent out all my rage and frustrations on these wolves. I want them to experience pain before they get the final hit.
“Oof!” Fiona sounded, tumbling right at Chriselda with her poisonous claw.
She may be old, but Christy was still agile in dodging Fiona out from her path, and charging straight at me.
Noticing Fiona is the only one who had her nails plastered with that potion while Chriselda had nothing on her, I immediately saw through the plan she and that sorceress had cooked while waiting for me.
Instead of attacking Christy when she came pouncing at my direction, I speedily turned back and got engulfed by the darkness at the right time. Using that opportunity to shift into the form I wanted and… BOOM! I struck something with my fist from the opposite direction!
I felt the impact.
The darkness came clearing out, revealing Thelma on her knees a few distance away from me, with her hand holding her chest while struggling to breath!
Thelma lifted her eyes at me and gazed back at my wolf form, unable to utter any word.
Beside her was a shattered silver dagger coated with that same substance on Fiona. She wanted to use that on me, but her plan failed.
“I’ve missed seeing you in this white fur,” Cadell said from my side, sniffing down on my shoulder naughtily.
My pervy wolf had taken care of Chriselda while I attended to Thelma. She’s the main target here, and handling her myself was part of the plan.
“So obvious, just like you said, my love,” I drew away from Cadell approaching Thelma who was struggling to get to her feet.
“The same old trick over and over again. Can’t you see that I am no longer that sweet Luna of before? I am different now.”
She got to her feet and staggered back, still holding her chest.
When she thought she had me where she wanted, Thelma waved her hand to do something but gasped when she realized she couldn’t.
“What… what is happening?!” She waved again but fell down on her knees on feeling her whole body turning weak.
“Looking for this?” I asked, opening my palm to show her what’s she searching for.
She gazed at my hand in shock, shivering in her spot.
Right in my hand was the same piece of my powers she stole. Every bit of the energy in her body… I took them back.
“No… When did you…”
“You don’t need to know,” I said, closing my palm shut. “You should be worried about yourself, because you’re done.”
“I don’t need your powers to take you out! I did it once and I can still do it again!!”
With that old wrinkling body, she forced herself into a swift transformation and came charging at me.
Chriselda and Fiona joined in, coming at Cadell and I.
Without hesitating, my pervy wolf an I got into battle, fighting them back.
We didn’t just face one specific person but had all three receiving a taste of their own medicine from both sides.
If Thelma made an attempt to harm me, Cadell would jump in and handle her, while I faced Chriselda or Fiona, beating them both.
We became a tag team.
Each strike Cadell and I delivered to Thelma, pulled her into the stage of weakness. When I made an attack on her, I’m pulling her magic out of her body. And when she tries to fight me off, Cadell would step in and neutralize before serving her as well.
She soon realized what was happening when she couldn’t move a part of her body. She was losing herself and suddenly shocked us with her next move.
The so-called powerful sorceress made a run for her life, fleeing the battle!
“THELMA!” Chriselda yelled out to her sorceress, but that old hag didn’t turn around to look at her.
It was right there she felt the word BETRAYAL in it’s real form. Even Fiona was dumbfounded by this.
Seeing this, Cadell zoomed after Thelma and grabbed the old hag by the head from behind, dragging her back.
She was screaming at the top of her lungs, unable to use any of her spells on Cadell.
Her age was finally showing on her. She was as fragile as glass.
This stunned Chriselda, who became lost at Thelma’s action. Only Fiona got scared and wanted to flee.
Quickly, I blocked her path and blasted her with a punch that sent her staggering into Chriselda. When she grabbed her for support, Christy screamed out in pain and threw Fiona off her in anger.
That’s because her favorite damsel just dug her poisoned claw into her skin by accident.
Fear took over Chriselda when she began feeling uncomfortable in her body.
“No! No!! NO!!!” She panicked, struggling to reach for the bruised spot.
“Thelma, HELP!” She cried out, shifting back into her human form to attend to herself.
But Thelma had her own problems to face. She was at our mercy now.
She was held down like a prisoner by Cadell, unable to give Christy the response she needed. And when my dear friend saw this, she realized it was over for her.
“Thelma?”
“Does that face look like the face of one who’s going to save you?” I asked Christy while approaching the sorceress.
Since she was now in a position she can’t flee from, I had no reason to go after her.
“Seeking help from the same person who just abandoned you to face your doom? Waw, how touching,” I said, glancing at Christy.
She lifted her eyes at me without a word, before falling down on her knees in defeat.
I turned my eyes away from her point and came before Thelma.
The old woman lost her confidence. Without the piece of my power to strengthen her, she became nothing.
Lifting her head, she began to plead for mercy and remind me of all the good things I’ve been doing in the past. “I am just a poor old woman, my Queen. I allowed the evil around to engulf me. Please, you… you are the spirit of love and forgiveness. Look pass my flaws and forgive me.”
“Are you serious right now?” I asked, scoffing at this her nonsense.
“Forgive you? You aren’t even taking responsibilities for your actions!” I roared, grabbing her head out of Cadell’s hold.
“There’s no mercy for the wicked, Thelma. You should have thought of that when you took that step a long time ago.”
She whimpered, begging.
Despite being at my mercy, she tried to pull a stunt on me by drawing out a piece of the blade that shattered from earlier, to stab me!
“Fool,” I said, using my eyes to see her movement in slo-mo.
In anger, I slapped it out of her hold and banged her head to the ground.
“You know you escaped death because of Christy, Thelma. That very day I felt your nasty and dirty aura, I wanted to end you before anything happens. But my sweet nature stopped me, and I gave you a chance to blend in with my people.”
“Evolet, please wait!”
“That’s a mistake I can never change. I shouldn’t have given you those chances… and I won’t.”
“Mercy… MERCY!! AHHHHH!!!” Thelma screamed on feeling something painful and unbearable.
To Christy and Fiona’s horror, Thelma’s head down to her body began turning to ashes.
I heard Fiona scream out in disbelief, while Chriselda’s voice was silent.
Thelma was crumbling into nothing. It’s the punishment she deserves.
We don’t need a pest like her roaming around.
Her body completely turned into ashes before me. And just as I was about to get up to my feet, my wolf sense kicked in, and I furiously turned around with speed, sending my claws right into Chriselda’s stomach.
She gasped out heavily, quivering in my hand.
From the side of my eye, I saw what she was holding. The blade I flung out of Thelma’s hand. Chriselda wanted to use it on me.
Bittered, I said without caring about the state she was in, “I should thank you for everything you’ve done, Christy. If you hadn’t taken that step to kill me, by now I wouldn’t have found myself a family that truly loves me.”
“I… I hate…” She choked, looking down at her stomach to see it burning up.
She lifted her eyes at me, and I smiled at her, saying, “Goodbye Christy.”
And like that, she withered away like Thelma, turning into dust.
The only one left was Fiona. She was petrified by what she witnessed and couldn’t help but cry out in fear.
“Are you going to do the same with her?” Cadell asked, embracing me from behind, with his head falling on my shoulder.
“No, not that. But I have something in mind for her.”
