After Cesar and his group left, Jovanny’s trusted men quickly rushed forward and untied more than ten of their bound companions.
Soon after, over thirty people rushed to the bar counter and pulled out a pile of machetes, clubs, and batons, even including three oversized crossbows.
They were ready to pursue aggressively, causing Pablo and his wife to tremble and fall to the ground. Jovanny raised his head slightly, his voice low and deep as he asked, “What do you think you’re going to do?”
“Boss, those guys are too arrogant.”
The man with a big mouth who was at the front stopped in his tracks and turned back to shout, “Not only did they cheat and take our money, but they also tied up our brothers. If we don’t smash their heads, we’re going to be a laughingstock in the underworld!”
“Don’t worry, boss. If something goes wrong, I’ll take the blame.”
Dozens of men surged with anger, echoing, “Yes, let’s take them down!”
“Shut up!”
Jovanny didn’t mince words as he shouted, “Take them down? How are you going to take them down?”
“Over ten people were silently tied up by the other side without resistance or shouting. Even the people upstairs less than ten meters away didn’t notice. Do you think you can gain any advantage by confronting them?”
“They’ve already shown mercy today. Otherwise, you’re a dead body now. All of you go back now and forget about what happened today.”
He reprimanded dozens of his men, “No, when you encounter them again, be polite and respectful.” Then he pointed at Pablo and his wife.
“And from now on, they are employees of the bar. They will handle the dirtiest and most difficult tasks.”
“When they finish their work, give them a meal. If they don’t finish it, starve them.”
He added, “Also, don’t let them escape. If they dare to run away, the first time we catch them, we’ll break a leg. The second time, we’ll cut off a finger.”
“I have a loan agreement worth three hundred thousand. Even if the police come, they can’t do anything to me.”
His subordinates responded in unison, “Yes!”
Pablo and Maci felt despair. “Mr. Parvis-”
Jovanny didn’t spare them a glance. He turned around and went upstairs. He walked over to a Sic Bo table. With his left hand reaching out, he took a dice cup and six dice.
Jovanny skillfully rolled the dice. At first, it was light and gentle. Then he gradually sped up-so fast that no one could see the full picture of the dice cup.
There were only traces of his arm movements. Several trusted men of Jovanny’s were amazed. It was rare to see their boss show his skills, but when he did, it was indeed extraordinary.
After about a minute, Jovanny Parvis finally snapped the dice cup at the table. His mouth twitched slightly before finally opening it and revealing a pile of powder.
The six dice were shattered into pieces.
Jovanny sighed, “What a master.”
He saw the gap between himself and Darnell. Darnell could shatter the dice into powder effortlessly, and it was only after the six dice were revealed that they slowly crumbled into powder.
Although Jovanny also shattered six dice, the degree of damage was far different. He felt that he was ten years behind Darnell in terms of skill.
Darnell’s strength reignited the flame that had been buried deep in Jovanny’s heart for fifteen years. He murmured, “Perhaps my past shame can be redeemed with his help.”
Jovanny’s actions and inner thoughts were unknown to Darnell. His attention was fully focused on Bailee.
Darnell pulled Bailee into the Porsche and immediately closed the door. Then he grabbed her waist without hesitation and spanked her.
“Why did you come here alone without telling me? What if something happened?”
Darnell was angrier than ever before. He continued to spank her lightly as he added, “I know you’re worried about your parents, but you should have told us.”
“As long as we discuss it together, there’s no obstacle we can’t overcome. Do you know that Shayla and Casey were so worried about you?”
Although it was her first time being spanked like this, Bailee didn’t feel embarrassed. Instead, she felt an indescribable sense of gratitude and guilt.
She hugged Darnell tightly around his waist and buried her head in his chest as she couldn’t help but cry, venting all her difficulties, pain, and sadness.
“There, there,” Darnell comforted her softly.
As she cried more intensely, Darnell could feel her genuine sadness from within. His tone became incredibly gentle as he said,
“Crying will make you feel better. It’s been tough for you these past few days. Don’t worry. Everything will be fine. No one will burden you anymore or make you sad.”
Upon hearing these words, Bailee cried even harder while holding onto Darnell even tighter. She felt gratefulness and warmth. “I’m sorry… I’m sorry.”
Bailee apologized with tears streaming down her face, “Mr. Halford, I shouldn’t have stolen your two hundred thousand dollars. I also want to apologize to Shayla and Casey too.”
Bailee felt remorseful as tears fell onto Darnell’s shirt. “Mr. Halford, fire me or report me to the police. At least I’ll feel better.”
“There’s nothing to apologize for,” Darnell reassured her.
Darnell fastened Bailee’s seat belt. “I never thought of you as a thief from the beginning, not even for a moment.”
“If you were really greedy for money, then you would have accepted it when I gave you one million dollars last time. Why want two hundred thousand now? It’s clear that you had your reasons. I don’t blame you.”
“Forget about this matter. You can pretend that nothing happened. Casey and Shayla won’t blame you either.”
Upon hearing these words, Bailee cried even harder while holding onto Darnell even tighter. Her tears soaked through Darnell’s clothes on his abdomen.
“If you’re tired, then sleep for a while. When you wake up, everything will be fine.” Darnell gently patted Bailee’s back as he spoke in an incredibly soft voice. “And don’t worry about your parents. I’ve made sure Jovanny will take care of them.”
“He will make sure your parents turn over a new leaf so that they won’t gamble anymore and cause trouble for you. Trust me. In three months, they will be better people.”
Bailee remained silent but held onto Darnell even tighter. She continued to cry silently while occasionally sobbing.
The woman was wearing a fitted skirt today, and as she leaned over, her ample cleavage was fully exposed.
Recalling how he spanked her made Darnell feel guilty. He had been too rough with such a delicate woman.
Bailee kicked off her high heels and curled up her legs on the seat while placing her handbag by her feet as if it would give her a sense of security.
Darnell didn’t disturb her with any words but let her vent her emotions freely. Five minutes later, Bailee was silent.
Darnell looked down and saw that the woman had fallen asleep, tears still glistening in her eyes, making her appear pitiful, though the usual worry between her brows had faded.
He breathed a sigh of relief. He didn’t adjust her position. Instead, he started the car.
It was only a ten-minute drive to Bailee’s place, and he intended to take her straight home.
“Vroom-”
The car slowly pulled out of the Wanderlust Pub area and merged onto a main road. Unlike before, Darnell didn’t speed. Instead, he leisurely drove toward their destination.
Bailee clung to him like a little sloth, her delicate face peaceful in sleep.
At first, Darnell didn’t feel much, but as her tears spread and her dampness seeped into his clothes, combined with her body heat, he began to feel a bit uncomfortable.
Suddenly, Darnell realized that the scene looked somewhat inappropriate, drawing curious glances from several other drivers.
If it weren’t for the traffic police ahead, some might have leaned in to get a better look.
He quickly took off his jacket and draped it over Bailee’s waist to shield her from prying eyes.
“Pull over!”
Just as Darnell awkwardly drove to a crossroads, he noticed a stern-looking traffic officer in sunglasses signaling him to stop.
The officer made two clear gestures, indicating that he should pull the vehicle to the side of the road.
Darnell was momentarily taken aback, unsure of what was happening, but he turned the steering wheel and guided the car to the right.
He retrieved his driver’s license, preparing for the inspection.
“Darnell.”
After directing traffic to clear the area, the female officer quickly removed her sunglasses and approached the car.
Darnell rolled down the window, momentarily stunned. “Captain Meech, what are you doing here?”
“Have you switched careers to become a traffic cop, or are you on a mission?”
The officer was none other than Judith.
