Jovanny’s more than ten subordinates wore mocking expressions. Betting against their boss? That was like asking for death.
Darnell placed the dice on the table and covered them with the dice cup. “That’s right. If you win, I’ll give you one million dollars, and I won’t interfere with Bailee anymore.”
“If you lose, give me two hundred thousand for emotional distress, and let me take Bailee away. As for her parents, the winner will decide their fate. How about it?”
“This is a profitable deal for you.”
Upon hearing this, Pablo became anxious. “Who do you think you are? Who gives you the right to gamble with our fate?”
Maci also panicked. “Mr. Parvis is a gambling master. You can’t beat him even if there were ten of you.”
“Shut up!”
Jovanny turned his head and took a sip before turning to Darnell. “Sounds good, but how do we gamble? By betting on the numbers?”
Jovanny was very interested in winning one million dollars in one game. It would save him from working hard for several months.
Darnell spoke directly, “A game of Sic Bo. I will shake the dice cup once, and you will bet Big or Small. If you guess correctly, then I lose.”
“If you don’t guess correctly, then I win!”
Upon hearing these words, everyone present was slightly stunned. They felt that Darnell was being arrogant. Betting Big or Small was too easy for Jovanny, a seasoned gambler.
It would be better if both sides guessed the specific numbers. That way there would still be some luck involved. Otherwise, Jovanny could defeat Darnell instantly!
A playful smile flashed across Jovanny’s face. He thought Darnell was going crazy by handing victory to him so easily.
He raised an eyebrow and asked, “Young man, will you be the banker? And then I will bet Big or Small first.”
Darnell straightened up and said seriously, “Of course! Mr. Parvis, do you have the courage to accept the challenge?”
Jovanny couldn’t help but grin widely. How could he refuse such a victory that fell into his lap?
And from Darnell’s expression, it was clear that he believed sitting as the banker meant he had already won. Little did he know that no matter how he shook the dice cup, he couldn’t escape Jovanny’s ears. Betting Big or Small was simply a piece of cake.
This was equivalent to giving him one million dollars directly. It made him lose interest in Bailee instantly. He waved his hand and said, “Alright, deal.”
The two quickly signed an agreement and stamped their fingerprints.
Darnell threw the dice and dice cup to Jovanny. “Although it’s your property, it’s customary for you to inspect it.”
Jovanny didn’t waste any words and took a look at them for a while before throwing them back to Darnell. “Please.”
“Let’s get started!”
With a flick of his wrist, Darnell began shaking the dice cup. The speed varied from slow to fast like a gust of wind, with an unpredictable rhythm that made it impossible to predict.
But the sound of the dice colliding within the dice cup created its own melodious tune.
Very pleasant to hear.
An expert!
Seeing Darnell’s technique, Jovanny was stunned, his face changing instantly. He realized that the man in front of him was not an ordinary person. Without ten years of experience, he wouldn’t have achieved such skill.
But Jovanny was also an experienced gambler. There was no panic on his face. He exerted all his skills and listened carefully!
“Ahem!”
Just as Darnell vigorously shook the dice cup and Jovanny strained to listen carefully, Darnell coughed softly.
The sound wasn’t loud, so it didn’t attract anyone’s attention, but to Jovanny, it was as deafening as thunder and extremely painful.
Darnell’s cough had pierced Jovanny’s eardrums.
Jovanny gritted his teeth but still managed to stabilize himself quickly due to his many years of experience.
He didn’t have confidence in guessing the exact number but had a rough idea of what it might be. He believed that Darnell would lose.
“Snap!”
As soon as Darnell made a crisp sound by slamming the dice cup on the table, Jovanny immediately shouted confidently, “Big!”
Darnell chuckled and spread his hands in response. “Mr. Parvis is extraordinary. I just stopped shaking and you already bet Big. Impressive skills.”
Amongst his subordinates eagerly waiting for the result, Jovanny coldly urged, “Open it.”
Bailee became worried.
“Right away!”
Darnell shouted loudly before having someone uncover the dice cup to avoid any misunderstandings.
The dice cup was thrown aside, revealing six dice with all sixes-the highest possible number-causing everyone to exclaim in astonishment, “It’s Big!”
Jovanny let out a long sigh of relief and almost couldn’t sit up straight due to exhaustion.
“Kid, I thought you had some skills, but it turns out you were just bluffing.”
Jovanny couldn’t help but burst into laughter as he patted his bald head.
“Hurry up and bring one million dollars so that you can get lost with Bailee. If you can’t produce it, not only will Bailee become mine, but I’ll also chop off one of your fingers.”
His subordinates cheered enthusiastically. “You lost! Haha!”
“Gambling against Mr. Parvis is no different from digging your own grave.”
“Even if the King of Gambling stepped in, he might not be able to beat our boss.”
Jovanny waved his hand dismissively. “Alright, enough. There’s no point in going too far.”
He looked at Darnell and smiled, “Kid, pay up or get lost. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude.”
He laughed arrogantly. His laughter pierced through everyone’s eardrums. The faces of the Lennard couple turned pale while Bailee’s eyelids twitched uncontrollably.
However, Darnell also started laughing foolishly without any reason, bewildering everyone present!
Jovanny laughed even more wildly. Still laughing after losing? Idiot!
In the midst of his mocking laughter, all six dice silently turned into powder.
Not a single point remained.
This dramatic turn of events shocked everyone present. Even Jovanny’s laughter came to an abrupt halt.
Darnell smiled and asked, “Mr. Parvis, tell me if this is Big or Small?”
Without a doubt, not having any points meant it was Small.
Jovanny’s face changed drastically. He didn’t say anything because he knew he had lost completely. His gaze towards Darnell became more intense.
“Brat, are you playing tricks?”
Seeing the change in results, several subordinates shouted and rushed forward angrily, “Boss! He cheated! He crushed the dice! Cut off his hand!”
Darnell calmly spoke up, “I’ll give you all a chance. If you can crush all six dice yourself, then consider me losing.”
The group instinctively stopped in their tracks.
“I lost.”
Jovanny waved his hand to stop his subordinates’ impulsiveness before looking at Darnell and continuing, “I admit defeat wholeheartedly.”
Not to mention his subordinates, even he couldn’t possibly shake six dice into powder like that.
“Someone, bring $200, 000 over.”
“Release Pablo and his wife.”
Jovanny kept issuing orders, then looked at Darnell with a smile. “Young man, my name is Jovanny Parvis. How about we become friends?”
Darnell pulled up the delighted Bailee and took $200, 000 from Jovanny, not answering his question. “Jovanny, you’re a smart man.”
“You should be grateful that we didn’t fight.”
He patted Jovanny’s shoulder and added, “It doesn’t matter who I am. What matters is that we won’t cross paths again.”
“Bye.”
As Darnell’s words fell, Jovanny’s face slightly changed. After Darnell disappeared quickly from sight, he swiftly led his men downstairs.
There were more than ten brothers tied up in a corner with cloth stuffed in their mouths.
They looked miserable without making any sounds or cries.
Beside them were four indifferent men playing cards happily.
“I won!”
As Jovanny approached them with his men rushing over, a man with golden teeth dropped the cards in his hand, signaling the end of the round. He collected the money and stood up. He politely bowed to Jovanny and, accompanied by three others, slowly made his way out of Wanderlust Pub.
“Mr. Parvis, our boss said that he didn’t need Pablo and his wife,” Cesar said indifferently. “He wants you to keep them here for three months until next spring when he will come to pick them up.”
He took out ten thousand dollars from his pocket and threw it onto the table with a snap sound. “This is for their living expenses. I hope you accept it.”
Jovanny’s subordinates almost fainted from anger while Jovanny smiled approvingly, “Tell your boss that I will train them well.”
“I won’t let him down!”
