CHAPTER 340: DEREK’S PARTY XVII

Book:The Alpha's Addiction Published:2025-2-23

Derek tightened his fists as he read the meaning in Maya’s steady gaze. Earlier, he had agreed to do just that, if the attackers had come before his little witch. But now, he didn’t see himself doing it. The same reason had suffixed again. How would others think of him if he abandoned them in battle and left to the safety of his room? He would be termed a weak alpha who didn’t care for his people. No, he wouldn’t do that. He would rather stay here and fight. If the beast rears his ugly head, then Anthony will subdue it again.
“Derek, go inside now!” he heard his mother shout at him through the mind link. But he refused to move from his position, glaring at Anthony, Shane and Clem afterwards when he noticed them approaching him. From the sorry look in their eyes, he was sure that they were about to carry him off to his room forcefully.
“Don’t you dare.” he said aloud to them, causing them to stop in their movements.
“We have a battle to fight, and I will do just that. If I feel the stirring of the beast, I will withdraw to my room.” he promised, and they all nodded, knowing that he wouldn’t change his mind. He was a stubborn mule.
He geared his wolf whom he was sure was still present, still on the surface, to be ready to fight, watching his mother and Maya lead their visitors, including the Alphas and his father, into an underground secret tunnel. This was to avoid unnecessary deaths and commotion during the fight. His father didn’t want any of the visitors dead, well at least those in the hall. He had heard a cry from outside first, before the bang even. But he was sure now that Anthony had dispatched some of the warriors already to that particular location.
Coincidentally, when their guests inside the hall had all disappeared through the tunnel, the huge door of the hall burst open.
An inflow of wizards and witches and werewolves from the White Sted Pack strolled into the room.
“It seems we arrived just in time, seeing that there is no crown yet on your head, Derek.” a very tall and bulky guy with long braided blond hair, a werewolf, who seemed to be the leader of the group, stated with a smirk.
“Why are you here? What do you want?” Derek asked through gritted teeth, balling his fists the more.
“What do I want? I think my Alpha had made it clear to your father. We need your territory. Don’t worry, we won’t kill you and your members anyway, at least if you surrender peacefully. But you guys can work as our slaves.” the werewolf taunted scornfully, laughing crazily the next second with the people by his side.
“I can’t let you do that.” Derek replied, counting the number of his warriors in the room. His cousin, Maya, was with Leo, but in a fighting stance. Where was Curtis? He thought, staring around the hall subtly. He hoped nothing had happened to the latter.
Maya wouldn’t be able to bear the loss.
“Oh, you wouldn’t be able to stop us. We also want the girl.” the werewolf mentioned.
“What girl?” Derek asked, although he already had a feeling of who that might be. His little witch. Why were they after her so badly? She was a human, for fudge sake(almost smiling at the use of her lingo, but for the seriousness of the situation. Maybe they had mistaken her for Freya, who was right beside aiden. The vampires looked so relaxed, if anything they were amused, especially Aiden. The dude looked like he would be whistling anytime soon. Derek was glad that they were with them, at least some added manpower.
“Don’t behave dumb now, Derek. The one that is called your mate. Unfortunately for you, she is also the prophecy. And so, many people would be after her, even if we don’t have her now, although I’m sure we will after tonight.” the werewolf said distastefully.
“What prophecy?” Derek asked, simultaneously with his other friends, including Maya; a bit annoyed that he didn’t know anything about some prophecy. Had his parents been aware, and had kept it away from him?
“The prophecy of Talibanj.” Aiden muttered as if in awe, loud enough for the inhabitants of the room to hear.
Beside him, Freya shifted, reading into his mind.
Her eyes grew wide with the information she had just gotten. Unable to hold such a wealth of information within her, she transferred to Yodah, whose eyes dilated out of shock.
“Tsk tsk…you brought an undead to the party? How did you do it? You know, turn them over to your side. They were on ours.” the werewolf said, taking note of Aiden and Yodah, chuckling dangerously, afraid but refusing to show it. He was very powerful to cower under the gaze of a vampire. He stopped short as he caught sight of Freya who was sandwiched between Yodah and Aiden.
“What are you? A clone?” He asked, infuriated when Freya broke into a laugh.
“Perhaps.” She muttered, balling her fists.
“We will see about that soon.” the werewolf muttered, confused at the moment. He had seen the picture of the girl they were to capture, would have gone for the half vampire in front of him but for her eyes. Her eyes were blue. The girl in the picture had deep green eyes.
His eyes went back to her intermittently, to be sure of what his next action would be, he didn’t want to make a mistake.
She was not her. He was sure now, after some watches, remembering his master’s command. The girl they were to capture was a human, or so she thought, at the moment. Her birthday would be coming up in two to three days time, when her powers would be unleashed fully. So, after dismantling here, he and his fellow werewolves would kill off the wizards that had come with them, breaking off ties with Leonarya, for his master also wanted the girl and the witches community. The land must be subdued under them. But first, they had to get the Blue Moon Pack. The Wind Winder pack was already under their control.
“Are you ready to rumble then?” he teased Derek, who nodded, feeling his wolf at the brink of his skin.
