Rosalind’s body stiffened, which was already an answer to his question.
She wanted to ask Ulric when he found out. She thought she had hidden it well enough…
Seeing her silence, Ulric asked again, “Was it Sirena’s doing? I’ll bring her here and let you deal with her.”
“No!” Rosalind spoke up, “I’ll handle it myself.”
“Don’t worry about my mom. I’ll get her from her.”
By any means necessary, he would bring Sirena to Rosalind.
His mother wouldn’t really fall out with him over Sirena! Moreover, ever since Sirena hurt him, her standing in his mother’s heart had significantly diminished.
“I really appreciate it, Ulric, but don’t interfere in this matter.”
Rosalind tried to leave, but Ulric pulled her back.
“There’s really nothing between Sirena and me.”
“I know!”
If she still suspected Ulric and Sirena were involved, she must truly be out of her mind.
“Rosalind…”
“I’m a bit tired. Let’s go to bed, okay?” Rosalind smiled at him, clearly wanting to end the conversation. “Ulric, without evidence, I don’t want to condemn anyone arbitrarily! If we rely on your power and connections to force Sirena to confess, that’s not what I want.”
She wanted the truth and a fair and just verdict!
Rosalind knew full well that if she asked Ulric to have Sirena killed, he would do it without hesitation. But that wasn’t her goal.
If that had been her intention, she could have confronted Sirena and Audrey years ago and ended things in a blaze of mutual destruction. She wouldn’t have needed to search for evidence or recover the flash drive.
“I’ll help you find the evidence.”
“Ulric, don’t get involved in this. Let me handle it myself.”
Because once he had the evidence, there was no guarantee he’d be willing to hand it over to her.
…
Tilda was forcibly taken back to Johnny’s place, with no room for negotiation.
She had assumed that someone like Johnny, who had no respect for others, would likely try to force himself on her again.
But to her surprise, he simply locked the door and took her phone away.
“What do you even want? I need to go home!”
“Stop lying. At this hour, your parents are already asleep. They have no idea you sneaked out to meet a man!”
Tilda rolled her eyes. “You have such a nasty way of putting things.”
“Nasty?” Johnny poured himself a glass of ice water. Looking down, he noticed that his knuckles were bleeding and bruised from hitting Howard so hard earlier.
“Let me go right now, or I’ll definitely tell Rosalind tomorrow! I’ll have Ulric deal with you!”
Johnny laughed, downing the ice water in one go and licking his thin lips. “He’s too busy being sweet with his wife to bother with me.”
“Besides, I agree to the conditions you mentioned earlier.” Johnny shrugged. “First thing tomorrow, I’ll have my parents transfer all the assets under my name to you.”
“Are you out of your mind? Johnny, have you been drinking?”
“No, I have work tomorrow. Ulric asked me to help him with a meeting. Drinking? Do I have a death wish?” As he spoke, Johnny stripped off his shirt.
He didn’t bother to be discreet, as if Tilda weren’t even there.
Tilda quickly averted her gaze, only to hear him chuckle beside her. “Don’t be shy. Don’t you love looking at my body?”
“I do not!”
