He wore a dark-colored robe, his long legs crossed. It looked as if he had been sitting there for a while.
Rosalind wasn’t guilty, but she didn’t want Ulric to know the specific reason she went out to meet B7.
“Why are you awake? Did I wake you up?”
She changed into her slippers and walked into the living room.
Ulric didn’t question her. Instead, he reached out for her, pulling Rosalind into his arms, and said gently, “It’s cold outside. You’re dressed too lightly.”
“It’s fine.”
He warmed her hands but didn’t ask anything.
However, Rosalind couldn’t hold back. “Aren’t you going to ask where I went?”
“If you want to tell me, you’ll tell me.”
If she didn’t want to say, he wouldn’t force her.
“You don’t think I went out to see Malcolm, do you?” Rosalind wanted to clarify, afraid Ulric would give Malcolm a hard time again out of jealousy. “I went to see B7. I asked him to help recover a flash drive. He said he ran into some issues and came to ask me about it.”
After speaking, she showed Ulric the text message on her phone.
He took the phone and then put it down.
“I believe you.”
“But I upset you.” Rosalind could feel it.
Ulric looked into her eyes, his gaze deep. “Because even though you’re close to me, it feels like I can never really grasp you.”
She kept everything from him, unwilling to open up to him.
It felt like he was a criminal, awaiting judgment, not knowing when she might abandon him.
“You’re overthinking it.” Rosalind patted his hand. “How come after going through all this, you’ve become so insecure?”
He was Ulric!
Yet, he felt a sense of insecurity?!
“Because you’re always ready to leave and hiding many things from me. Am I right?”
Ulric wished he were foolish.
Better to be so foolish that he knew nothing and guessed nothing, as long as she was by his side!
Rosalind avoided his gaze again and changed the subject. “I’m clearly here with you. Why think so much? I think after we return to Sweden, you should have Dr. Stewart find a psychologist for you. See if there’s any psychological issue!”
“Alright, I’ll have someone check on me and see if they can cure me.”
Rosalind sighed helplessly and took the initiative to wrap her arms around Ulric’s neck, planting a kiss on his lips.
Ulric felt it wasn’t enough and simply pressed her beneath him, taking control himself.
“This is the living room. What if Jake and Floyd wake up…”
“The door is soundproof.”
“But…”
“Rosalind, I wasn’t planning on doing anything. What are you thinking?”
With that remark from Ulric, Rosalind blushed.
Recently, he had made her think about sex all the time…
“Then don’t hover above me. Get off me!”
“No, I’m not getting off you.” Ulric insisted on holding her in his arms.
Thinking of his wound, Rosalind didn’t dare struggle for fear of hurting him and could only let him hold her like this.
The evening wind continued blowing outside. Inside the house, they could hear the rustling sound of leaves rubbing against each other.
She looked up at him. Ulric gazed back intently.
They maintained this posture for who knew how long until he suddenly sighed deeply and asked what was on his mind.
“The thing you’re plotting involves your mother, doesn’t it?”
