Ulric could sense the unease of the woman beside him, which was not what he had intended.
Caught up in his own jealousy, he hadn’t considered the difficult position Rosalind was in.
“I haven’t said anything, have I?” Malcolm put the paper bag back and looked up at Ulric. “I can’t accept your kindness because I helped Rosalind, not you. You don’t have to offer me anything. I don’t really care about these things.”
If he wanted money, he could easily earn it during his free time, but he didn’t.
Not because he was incapable, but because he wanted to share some of Rosalind’s burden, so he didn’t have much free time to spare.
“Malcolm, Ulric is really here to-”
Malcolm interrupted with a smile, “Rosalind, I know. I’m genuinely happy to see you both doing well. It’s been almost five years since I last saw you smiling. But I hope you understand that seeing Mr. Walters doesn’t make me happy.”
Who would be happy to see their love rival?
“Can I have a minute alone with you, Rosalind?” Malcolm ignored Ulric and asked Rosalind.
“Huh?” Rosalind unconsciously glanced towards Ulric.
Malcolm smiled. “It’s about B7. Mr. Walters can rest assured it has nothing to do with lovey-dovey stuff.”
“I’m not worried.” Surprisingly, Ulric let go of Rosalind’s hand. “Go ahead. I’ll wait for you.”
Rosalind felt relieved and let out a sigh of relief.
“Okay.”
She followed Malcolm as they got up and went to the bedroom where Floyd used to stay. After closing the door, Malcolm began speaking,
“How much is still needed for the final payment for B7?”
“I thought it was something else,” she said. “Don’t worry. I can handle it myself.”
“Rosalind, I knew that you sold stocks and properties. I bought all of what you sold.”
Rosalind was taken aback. “Huh? Malcolm, you don’t have to do this!”
“Just tell me how much money you need directly. I’m lending it to you, not giving it to you! Don’t sell things everywhere. The Walters family will notice that you’re raising money and get suspicious.”
If the Walters investigated deeply before the surveillance footage was restored and they managed to buy B7, she wouldn’t end well!
Malcolm talked to her for a while before Rosalind finally agreed to accept his help.
But she had a condition-her assets had to be transferred to Malcolm first. If she couldn’t repay the debt, everything would belong to him. He wouldn’t lose out for sure.
Knowing her temperament, Malcolm didn’t argue further and simply nodded in agreement. “Alright, let’s do as you said.”
“Then let’s go out.” She didn’t want Ulric to wait too long.
As she went to open the door, Malcolm suddenly stopped her.
Rosalind looked puzzled.
He pursed his lips, then spoke up hesitantly, “Have you thought it through? Even if it means becoming enemies with Ulric, will you still seek revenge?”
“Of course! I’ve come this far, and there’s almost evidence. I won’t give up.”
Malcolm furrowed his brows and looked at her. “Do you love Ulric?”
“Nothing can stop me from making the person who killed my mother pay! If she kills my mother, then she has to pay the price!”
“I understand.”
Malcolm let go of her hand and whispered in her ear, “I will help you with all my might.”
“Malcolm…”
“On the day when the truth is revealed, I promise you that I will move on and get married.”
Rosalind’s face stiffened. She knew no matter what she said, Malcolm wouldn’t change his mind.
After she left the room, Ulric stood up. “Can we go now?”
“Yeah.” Rosalind nodded and went over to Ulric.
Both of them reached the entrance of Malcolm’s house when Malcolm suddenly called out to Rosalind.
“If you have some free time lately, visit your mother at the cemetery.”
