The arrow lay quietly in his palm.
Callie didn’t take it. “I didn’t expect your ambition to be so great, extending your business to Ylosea.”
The leaders accompanying Jamir were influential figures in Ylosea. They watched Callie cautiously, her sharp words making them uneasy.
For the past two years, Callie had been the boldest woman in Ylosea.
Seeing that she didn’t take the arrow, Jamir closed his palm and raised one hand. A staff member promptly handed him a bow. He placed the arrow on the string and said, “People say I’m trying to expand my business in Ylosea, but in truth, it’s my excuse for meeting someone I love in Ylosea.”
With that, he squinted his eyes, and the arrow flew out suddenly.
His movements were so swift that no one could react. The arrow brushed past Callie’s ear with a fierce wind and sound.
Callie’s face turned pale as the arrow hit the bullseye behind her.
A leader was the first to react and applauded. “Ten rings! Jamir’s archery is superb!”
But Jamir only stared at her pale face with an amused smile. “Exciting, isn’t it?”
Callie slowly came back to her senses and realized her ear wasn’t scratched at all. His archery was indeed impressive.
As she regained her composure, her temper flared up. She grabbed a cup of tea placed nearby by a staff member and splashed it on Jamir. “Are you crazy?”
The sudden outburst scared everyone except Jamir, who remained calm. He grabbed Callie’s hand and forcefully twisted her arm behind her back, pressing her against him. He made her hold the bow.
He controlled every movement, still drawing the bow and nocking the arrow.
“Jamir! Let go of me!” Callie’s face flushed with embarrassment. So many people were watching; it was indecent.
“Your archery isn’t good enough. Let me teach you,” Jamir said loudly.
Everyone exchanged glances, unsure of what Jamir was up to.
“I don’t need your teaching!” Callie whispered, stepping on his shoe heel.
Jamir’s expression remained unchanged as he held her hand to draw the bow. “Archery requires not just accuracy but also a good feel. Without proper strength and technique, you can’t hit the bullseye.”
His voice was deep yet clear like a young man’s, instructing her by her ear.
Callie instinctively shrank back.
“Just like investing, having money isn’t enough. You need to consider the track’s strength and your own conditions; everything must be just right.” Jamir exerted more force. “This project, with Oconnor Group’s construction support and Quinn Group’s investment, will surely be a strong alliance.”
With that, the arrow flew out again, hitting the same bullseye.
Another ten rings.
Jamir released her hand. “What do you think, Miss Callie?”
He took a tissue from a staff member and carefully wiped his fingers, looking relaxed and cheerful.
Callie frowned, unable to understand what Jamir was up to. It was one thing for him to stir things up in Anbusea, but now he had come to Ylosea.
Seeing her hesitation, a leader quickly spoke up. “Yes, yes, a strong alliance! With Miss Callie’s team, it’s even stronger! This project is sure to be a great success.”
Jamir smiled silently, waiting for Callie’s response.
She turned her head and was immediately pulled aside by the leader, who whispered, “Jamir is our key figure for attracting investment in Ylosea this year. I don’t know what your relationship is, but please keep him here. Don’t lose your temper!”
Callie glanced at Jamir upon hearing this. Keep him? “Is that necessary? He’ll bring the money himself.”
