Damian stares at his wife’s unconscious body on the hospital bed. Not even one person dared to open their mouth. His hands clenched into fists without realising it. Even his stoic face shows nothing…
His eyes speak everything.
“Dam, we found the guard who was supposed to guard the door,” Victor said.
“Where are they?” Damian inquired, ready to kill them.
“They are unconscious in the store room. I think…someone did that so anyone can sneak into Melody’s ward,” he explains.
Damian sighs. It’s not those guards’ fault also. He can’t blame them for being unconscious.
“So, they are trying to get on Melody this time, huh?” Damian mumbles
“It’s seem like that…” Victor agreed.
Matthew leans on the wall, “But why?”
“Melody is connected to Damian. Matthias knows she is someone special to Damian. Which he can use to bring Damian down.” Victor explains once again.
Mrs. Gabriella holds her daughter-in-law’s hand, staring at her face with concern. If she hadn’t left her alone, this wouldn’t happened.
Damian noticed it. “Mum, I’m sorry…”
“No. It’s not your fault, Angelo. I should be the one who says sorry. You can’t predict any of this and I shouldn’t pull you guys apart.” Mrs. Gabriella wipes the tears on her cheeks.
“Without you and the others, it is even more dangerous for her,” she admits.
“So, please. Promise me…that you will protect her no matter what happened,”
Damian didn’t say anything but felt glad his mother wouldn’t take Melody away again this time. He gives a slight nod.
“We can’t leave her here. We will bring her home,” he speaks.
“But, Melody hasn’t been discharged yet,” Matthew frowns.
“Don’t worry. I have talked with the doctor and they have agreed to let her be treated at home,” Mrs Gabriella added.
He would be much calmer and relaxed if Melody was being treated at home rather than here where he couldn’t keep an eye on her all the time. Damian grabs the bag before turning to Matthew.
“Mat, go handle all the documents with the doctor and I want the professional doctor to treat her at home,” he steps closer to him and pokes Matthew’s chest, “Check the doctor’s background-make sure he doesn’t have any bad intentions. Understand?”
“Right away, sir,” Matthew nods firmly.
“I wouldn’t tolerate anyone who has bad intentions in my place. I will shoot them right away,” Damian firmly said before going to pack Melody’s clothes.
“You sound like you want to kill me,” Matthew whines.
“I wouldn’t if you don’t mess it up,” he calmly said.
Matthew rolls his eyes. He leaves the ward and goes to meet the doctor.
“Is there anything I can help, son?” Mrs. Gabriella softly asks, holding his shoulder.
Damian turns to her, “Mum, you should go home.”
“I want to help too…” she sighs.
“I know but you did enough. You have been taking care of her since the day she got into the hospital. I appreciate that,” he gently said.
Mrs Gabriella was stunned for a moment to hear that. He had never been so appreciative of someone before. He only shook it off and just being nonchalant all the time whenever people did something for him.
“Thank you, Mum,” he slightly smiles.
Mrs Gabriella didn’t say anything and just slightly nodded. As if she lost her words seeing her son acting that way. She slowly turned away and left the ward.
Mr. Flavio waiting for his wife, leaning on the car as he is busy with his phone. As he felt someone’s presence walking toward him, he lifted his head only to see Mrs. Gabriella walking toward him.
“Hey, dear. How is Melody? I feel bad for not coming in to see her condition,” Mr. Flavio put his phone back in his pocket.
“She is just unconscious. Damian is going to take her home and continue her treatment at home,” she answers.
“That’s great though,” he nods. Then, he notices his wife’s expression. A smile on her face makes him frown.
“Is there…something happened that I didn’t know?”
She chuckles and kisses his cheeks. “Nope. Everything is fine, honey. Let’s go home.”
Mr Flavio standing bewildered. Sometimes, his wife’s actions make him shiver but decides to shrug it off.
“You are so weird,” he mumbles before entering the car.
Matthias blows the smoke out of his mouth. His fingers tap the armchair, and he looks at the woman who failed her task.
“So, you told me just now, you are so sure that Melody didn’t suspect any of your disguises,” he arches his eyebrows.
The women trembling in fear. ‘I…I didn’t…mean…”
“I’m so stupid to believe in that and guess what? You can’t even do a simple job,” he chuckles and puts his cigarette in the ashtray.
The women trembling in fear, not knowing what to do. Suddenly, she falls to her knees, clutching her hands.
“Forgive me, sir! I’m begging you, please…I didn’t mean to fail the task!” She bursts into tears.
Matthias chuckles seeing her on her knees, pleading. He gets up and stands in front of her.
“Look at you, begging for mercy,” he smirks.
“P-Please, spare me…I promise I will do the best next time,” the woman clutching both hands, pleading.
He crosses his arms above his chest, “Next time? There is no next time.”
The woman looks at him with wide eyes, filled with tears. She knows that looks on Matthias. Her whole body already trembling in fear.
“What…”
Matthias scoffs and turns away from her and goes to his desk. “Kill her.”
Before the woman could speak up, the guard shot her right on the forehead. Her lifeless body fell to the ground. Blood leaking out of the bullet wounds.
“Bloody bitch,” he scoffs. “Can’t even do a simple task. Dispose of her body and clean the whole mess.”
The guards nod and start doing their tasks. Matthias grumbles, tapping his desk with his fingers.
“I don’t expect the sweet lady to be that clever. Well, Damian taught her well. Like husband like wife,” he chuckles.
