After saying this, before Taylor could react, she gave him a grin and opened the backseat car door herself. “I won’t trouble you. If a hair falls off and your girlfriend sees it, it would be hard to explain.”
Taylor didn’t have time to say anything. The girl had already seated herself in the car and closed the door.
Taylor had no choice but to close the passenger door, walk around the car, and get back into the driver’s seat. As he started the car, he asked, “Where do you live? Is it a hotel or did you rent a place in advance?”
“I rented a place, just a moment.” Danielle couldn’t remember the address, so she took out her phone and read it from her notes.
Taylor was stunned for a moment… that address???
But he said nothing and just drove towards it.
Danielle didn’t start any conversation on the way. She leaned back in her seat, crossed her legs, and began playing games on her phone, looking very much like a child.
Taylor glanced at her through the rearview mirror before focusing on driving. His first impression of her was that she had a nice name, was pretty, seemed young, vibrant, and gave off the vibe of a little girl.
Soon, they arrived at the location she mentioned, which was also where Taylor had started his day.
“We’re here,” Taylor softly reminded her as she played her game.
The girl glanced out the window. “Okay.” She quickly opened the door and got out of the car. She swiftly opened the trunk as well.
Taylor also got out of the car. Before he could offer to help, she had already taken out her suitcase with considerable strength.
Holding onto the suitcase handle, she looked up at him with a smile. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” Taylor replied with a gentle smile. As he closed the trunk and was about to offer to carry her suitcase,
Danielle stepped back with her suitcase, still smiling. “Thank you, I can go up myself. No need to trouble you.”
With that, she turned and walked towards the nearby building entrance.
Taylor was slightly taken aback; this girl’s sense of safety was quite strong.
This small detail made Taylor feel a slight fondness for her; despite his good looks, she wasn’t trying to cling to him.
He smiled, locked his car with his keys, and followed her into the building.
Inside, Danielle pressed the elevator button. The elevator was still upstairs, so it took some time to arrive.
While waiting for the elevator, Danielle glanced at Taylor standing beside her and felt a bit startled. “…”
Taylor had his hands in his pockets and looked at her warmly.
Their eyes met briefly before Danielle noticed the numbers on the elevator decreasing and felt inexplicably nervous.
Still, she politely said to him, “You don’t need to see me up. My suitcase is light; I can manage.”
At that moment, the elevator doors opened.
The girl didn’t enter immediately; she smiled but looked at him warily. “…” Her self-protection instincts were strong.
Taylor saw she was scared and decided not to tease her anymore; his demeanor softened considerably.
He reached out and pressed the elevator button again calmly. “Isn’t it possible that I also live upstairs?”
Danielle’s eyes widened in disbelief; how could it be such a coincidence?
Taylor stepped inside while dialing a number on his phone. “Annie, I picked up your friend Danielle. Coincidentally, she rented an apartment right across from mine.”
“Really?” Monica’s voice came through clearly from Taylor’s phone; both he and Danielle heard it.
The girl paused for a moment before believing him as they continued their brief conversation.
