Thankfully, Johnny arrived in a business car, having already calculated the number of people early on. If he took a five-seater car, there wouldn’t be a seat for Tilda.
Just as he sat in the driver’s seat, Ulric tapped on his car window. “What’s going on between you and Tilda?”
It was clear that Ulric guessed it had something to do with Johnny, even though he hadn’t heard anything.
“It’s nothing. She has a blind date, and I got angry.”
“You’re not anyone to her. You’re just too nosy.”
Johnny raised an eyebrow at him. “Are we friends or not? Or are you so afraid of upsetting Rosalind?”
“Yeah, I am.”
Johnny rolled his eyes.
This friend of his was beyond help!
After a while, Rosalind and Tilda also got in the car. The two girls sat in the back, and the children sat in the second row.
Everyone seemed to have silently agreed not to speak.
Without hesitation, Ulric nodded. “Alright.”
Johnny chuckled a few times as he drove. “Your dad can buy all the candy in Northville City for you!”
“Really?” Floyd blinked her innocent eyes with a look of anticipation.
Tilda quickly interrupted, “Johnny, don’t talk nonsense! Floyd has rotten teeth. Every time we take her to the dentist, she cries in pain for a long time!”
She looked just like Floyd’s mother.
What could Johnny say? He knew she was deliberately provoking him! Otherwise, why didn’t she say anything when Ulric agreed to buy candy just now?
Rosalind smiled. “Today is an exception. Floyd can have some candy!”
“Hooray! I’m so happy! Can I buy some for my brother too?” Floyd pointed to Jake, who was sitting beside her.
Jake looked up and spoke mercilessly, “I want a new computer.”
He didn’t want candy. It was only worth a few bucks. He wasn’t as easy to please as Floyd!
“Alright, I’ll buy whatever you want.” Ulric didn’t refuse the children’s request.
Helplessly, Rosalind said, “Don’t spoil them so much…”
“My son and daughter can have whatever they want.”
Johnny turned his head and glanced at Ulric before sneering, “Well, I’m different from you. I want a son and daughter.”
After speaking, he deliberately glanced at Tilda through the rearview mirror.
Unfortunately, she didn’t pay any attention to Johnny at all. Her mind was focused on the two children.
The car arrived at the restaurant. As Rosalind got out of the car, her phone rang.
She subconsciously glanced at Ulric, who was holding Floyd, and answered the call.
Malcolm spoke up, “Have you landed?”
Rosalind pursed her lips and replied, “Yes, we brought the kids out for a meal. Tilda is here too.”
Malcolm asked, “Tonight, the kids won’t come back to stay, right? Do you have everything they need over there? Floyd needs to read her storybook before bed and hold her stuffed toy. I went to her room just now. They’re still there. Should I have someone deliver them?”
He mentioned having someone deliver them but didn’t mention doing it himself.
Malcolm didn’t want to see their family enjoying themselves together, as it made him feel like an outsider.
Rosalind sighed, “I’ll go get them. After dinner, I’ll go over.”
She knew she would eventually have to face Malcolm. She couldn’t keep avoiding him forever!
It wasn’t good that she hadn’t gone to see him when she returned from abroad.
Just as Rosalind finished replying, she looked up and saw Ulric staring at her.
She wanted to explain but heard him say, “I’ll go get it. No need for you to go.”
