When Ulric first laid eyes on Floyd, he found her particularly striking, and he couldn’t help but pay attention to her.
At first, he thought it was because Floyd’s eyes resembled Rosalind’s. How could he have known she was his daughter?
“Yes, she is your daughter, our child,” Rosalind knew that he was feeling nervous at the moment, so she held his hand. “Let’s go. They are waiting for us.”
Ulric’s gaze fell heavily on her little face as he nodded slightly.
“Alright.”
“Mommy! Mommy, I’m here!”
Floyd spotted Rosalind and waved her little arms vigorously. The little ponytail on her head swayed along with her movements.
But when she saw the person next to her mommy, Floyd suddenly pouted.
“Aren’t you… Uncle Ulric?”
The uncle who took the money but didn’t bring back any candy!
Jake remained calm and tugged at his sister’s clothes. “He is our dad, not Uncle Ulric.”
“He is Uncle Ulric! He told me to call him Uncle Ulric!”
Jake knew his sister was stubborn, so he let it be.
Rosalind and Ulric approached. Tilda asked with a smile, “Rosalind, are you tired? Did you sleep on the plane?”
“Yes, I slept all the way,” Rosalind smiled and bent down to pick up her daughter.
But she dared not exert too much force on her legs, so halfway through picking her up, she winced in pain.
Ulric held her wrist and took Floyd from her arms.
Floyd’s big eyes blinked as she asked, “Uncle Ulric, where is my money?”
Ulric took out a hundred-dollar bill directly from his jacket pocket. “Here you go. I’m giving it back to you.”
He had prepared it in advance and kept it in his pocket early in the morning.
Unexpectedly, Floyd pushed it back and waved her hand. “I don’t want so much. I just want five dollars! Mommy won’t let me spend a hundred!”
This remark made everyone can’t help but laugh.
Rosalind felt helpless. “If I give you a hundred, you’ll definitely buy candy with it, right? Do you want to have rotten teeth?”
Johnny had been holding Jake all this time. Seeing them joking around, the frustration in his heart dissipated a lot.
“Shall we get in the car first? Find a place to eat and chat. We’re at the airport, after all,” Johnny suggested.
Rosalind nodded. “Okay.”
With her agreement, Johnny turned to leave with Jake in his arms, and Ulric started to move forward, only to realize that Rosalind didn’t follow.
She was pulled aside by Tilda.
“Rosalind, you guys go ahead and eat. I’m not going.”
“What’s wrong?”
“I just don’t want to see Johnny. There’s something off about him.” Tilda sighed, already dreading having to go back to buy a new phone. Just thinking about it was infuriating!
If she had known he would be there, she wouldn’t have come at all.
Rosalind glanced at Johnny holding Jake and froze. “What did he do to you again?”
“Don’t mention it. I don’t want to talk about him!”
Tilda rolled her eyes.
“Tilda, Ulric and I just came back to the country. Let’s have a meal together. I can’t explain that to Malcolm if you leave like this! Just bear with it, okay?”
Since she put it that way, Tilda could only nod reluctantly. “Fine.”
“Don’t worry. I won’t let Johnny bully you. If he speaks rudely to you, I will definitely stand up for you.”
Tilda opened her mouth but ultimately didn’t mention the incident where he smashed her phone.
Forget it. Seeing everyone so happy today. She decided not to spoil the mood.
