Break

“What curse?”
“The one that’s holding back her wolf, Lima. It’s quite a thing, which is not explainable,” Jackson sighed as he looked toward Priya’s pale figure.
“He is right, I don’t know about the curse, but she has a wolf, which I can sense through her blood but unable to detect. She lost consciousness suddenly,” Maya explained some more, as she tried to hold herself from all the panic she felt in her veins.
“She is the royal blood you told me about? The daughter of the late King and Queen?” Lima asked, with glowing eyes as she scanned Priya’s whole body, through her witch powers.
“Yes, she is. I only met her today. Maya just found her three days before,” Jackson stated the whole thing in one breath.
“She is cursed. No one can cure her. She lost consciousness because that curse’s side effects take a toll on her body when her wolf tries to dominate her. She is overflowing with negative energy,” Lima said, as she can feel everything through her powers.
“What you are saying Lima, aren’t you the oldest witch here?” Maya snapped back.
“Maya, I may be old but I didn’t forget who you are. As a doctor, don’t you think you are putting too much expectations on me,” Lima came back to normal, with her narrowed eyes looking toward Maya.
“Because she is cursed. If it’s something I can handle, I won’t be disturbing you,” Maya exclaimed.
“I can’t do anything. Whatever type of curse she has spelled on her, it’s beyond the powers I have. I am too old to even do it. That’s why I am retired, if Jackson didn’t tell you.”
Maya bites her inner cheek in stress. She knows Lima from so many years. 18 years back when Maya left the pack, Lima still was the high flowing witch, who has powers under her sleeve and can do anything.
So hearing this from Lima’s mouth is certainly nerve-wracking. Maya, even before coming here, thought she would have Lima to break the curse.
Now she doesn’t know what she should do.
Priya looked like this, all numb and cold, pale, everything hanging, that too with the fact, now someone else is Alpha of this pack, which is the position of Priya, as the royal heir.
How many things Maya needs to fight? Seems like it’s not just 18 years, it feels more like 18 decades, the way things changed it’s just made her feel this way only.
The weight of responsibility pressed down on Maya, making the passage of time feel like an eternity. So much had changed since she left the pack 18 years ago. It was as if the world had shifted in ways she couldn’t have imagined.
Yet, despite the overwhelming odds, Maya knew she had to find a solution. She couldn’t abandon Priya, not when she was the only hope for the pack’s future.
This is Maya’s responsibility. She can’t step back from it, no matter how many odds she has to fight.
“What do you want me to do, Maya? You think I don’t want to save her? She is the daughter of our late King and Queen. It’s a blessing to serve royal blood, but none can do anything,” Lima answered, her voice showing the emotions flowing inside her heart.
“I know, but we can’t just let her be like this, Lima. I have my trust in you. That’s why my first thought before bringing her here was you. Now, if you’re going to turn your back on this, what will happen?” Maya tried not to break down, her feet feeling like jelly, ready to give way beneath her.
Lima walked towards Priya, Levi immediately stood up from the stool, leaving Priya’s hands, praying in her heart that Lima could do something to save Priya.
Lima touched Priya’s body and closed her eyes. Her hair started standing up, the white strands turning dark blue at the edges. Her body started shaking as she tightened her hold on Priya’s hand.
“What is happening?” Rish tried to get closer. Maya immediately grabbed his hand.
“Stay here. She is using her powers. Don’t meddle, Rish,” Maya lightly growled, not wanting her son to disturb anything.
Rish nodded. He didn’t know a lot of things, as it was the first time he had seen something like this.
As Lima channelled her powers, the air in the room seemed to crackle with energy. Maya held her breath, watching intently as Lima’s efforts intensified.
Priya’s body trembled under the force of Lima’s magic, her features contorting with pain. Maya felt a surge of fear gripping her heart, wondering if Lima’s intervention would bring relief or make things worse.
Seconds stretched into eternity as the room filled with tension. Maya could see the strain on Lima’s face, beads of sweat forming on her brow as she struggled against the powerful curse.
Everyone was holding their breaths in the room, because of the energy that’s radiating in the air, and the way they all were burning with the stress.
Lima opened her eyes, her gaze all red, her hair messy as they fell on her shoulder, tears flowing down her cheeks due to the energy she used through her old body.
“Lima, are you fine?” Maya asked, still not taking any steps back.
“Her wolf will only come out if she is mated with her mate. This curse was placed by the queen herself, your sister, Maya. She put it in place because she didn’t want Priya’s royal blood to show. But as time passed, it grew stronger, affecting her mental state, her body, and her wolf,” Lima breathed. “You know the queen was highly talented in powers even we witches don’t have. I can sense it, and the source. But she can only be cured by mating.”
Maya’s heart sank at Lima’s revelation. The weight of her sister’s actions bore down on her, but she knew her sister had acted out of a desire to protect Priya.
Everyone was shocked to discover her sister’s ability to use magic like witches, even in her wolf form. They had thought it was a blessing in disguise. No one could overcome the magic if it was cast by her.
“So, she needs to find her mate?” Maya asked, trying to wrap her head around the situation.
“Yes, that’s the only way to break the curse,” Lima confirmed, her voice strained with exhaustion.
Maya glanced at Priya, who lay unconscious but now appeared more peaceful. The solution seemed clear, yet fatal.
