“Mom, you need to come outside. Priya fainted,” without knocking on the door, Rish entered the office.
Maya, who was already shocked with the news that someone else was now ruling the pack, jumped in her chair with the sudden news.
“Mom, did you hear me? Priya lost consciousness.”
Maya snapped back from her thoughts and stood up. “How?” She tried to make sense of it.
“I don’t know. She was just scared and overthinking. Levi and I tried hard to calm her, but she just fainted. Levi is holding her. We need to take her to the hospital now,” Rish explained, panic filling his voice.
He didn’t even know how to react himself.
All he knew was that something wasn’t right.
“Carry her to the car. Follow me,” Jackson immediately stood up and started walking, with Maya following him and Rish leading the way.
Levi, who was holding Priya in her arms, was shaking, not knowing what to do. Due to how sudden it happened, it really scared her out of her wits.
“Mom,” Levi shakily called as she saw Maya walking towards her. Rish took Priya in his arms.
“Calm down, Levi. She will be fine. Why are you shaking, sweetheart?” Maya tried to calm Levi down, seeing her in a hypertensive state.
Maya herself was disoriented, not knowing what to do with everything, and now, on top of everything, Priya had fainted.
“She’s too cold,” Rish said, touching Priya’s face. Her body was turning cold.
“Let’s follow Jackson,” Maya said as they started following him to his car.
A lot of things hadn’t changed, so Maya knew where the parking place was. Maya and Levi sat in the back seat, holding Priya, while Rish sat in the passenger seat as Jackson took the driver’s seat and started driving.
“I don’t know, Mom, why it happened. She was just fine, and suddenly like this, she’s just turning cold too,” Levi started rubbing Priya’s hands to provide warmth.
“You have to be calm, Levi. Panicking won’t help. We’re going to the hospital, and the pack doctors are very well trained. I don’t think it’s a major issue,” Maya spoke, checking Priya’s pulse, which was weak.
Maya herself was a doctor, so she knew it wasn’t something common. It seemed to be a curse effect she could see in Priya’s body, but she couldn’t say this now because everyone was already panicking. It was better to reach the hospital soon.
As the car raced towards the hospital, Maya couldn’t shake off the sense of urgency. Priya’s condition was troubling, and Maya’s mind raced with possibilities of what could be wrong.
Levi kept holding Priya’s hand tightly, her worried eyes fixed on Priya’s pale face. “Hang in there, Priya,” she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion.
Meanwhile, Rish sat in silence, his gaze shifting between the road ahead and Priya’s still form. He felt helpless, wishing he could do more to ease Priya’s suffering.
Jackson’s jaw was clenched, his hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. He was focused on getting them to the hospital as quickly as possible, his mind already strategizing the next steps once they arrived.
As the car reached the hospital, they rushed Priya into the emergency room, where a team of doctors and nurses immediately sprang into action.
Maya explained the situation to the medical staff, her tone urgent as she emphasised the need for quick and thorough care.
Levi stood by Priya’s side, her heart pounding with worry as she watched the medical team work to stabilise her.
Time seemed to slow down as they waited anxiously for any news about Priya’s condition. Maya paced nervously, her mind consumed with thoughts of what could have caused Priya’s sudden collapse.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, a doctor emerged from the emergency room, her expression grave.
“Is she going to be okay?” Levi asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
The doctor paused for a moment before nodding. “She’s stable for now, but not going to regain her consciousness soon, we need to run some tests to determine what caused her to faint.”
“Thank you, doctor. Please keep us updated.”
“What is happening, Maya? Tell me,” Jackson asked.
“I think it’s surely the curse that’s been triggered due to her coming to the pack, her royal blood. Her wolf can sense it but can’t do anything due to the curse, and I’m sure that’s why she fainted. But now the issue is how she will regain consciousness,” Maya said, massaging her head.
“We need to get a witch. We have a doctor who is a witch, but I don’t think she will attend to Priya. She’s already retired too, due to how old she is now,” Jackson stated, unsure of what to do.
“Call her. Tell her we need her urgently. Priya is not just an ordinary person; she is of royal blood. So, retired or not, everyone needs to serve her. It doesn’t matter how old they are,” Maya announced, her voice determined.
“Let me get her on the call, then,” Jackson said, pulling out his phone and dialling.
After talking and trying to get the witch doctor to agree, he sighed. “She’s coming,” he said as he ended the call.
They all entered inside the Priya room.
Maya paced back and forth, her mind racing with worry for Priya.
Levi sat beside Priya’s hospital bed, her hand clasping Priya’s tightly. She whispered words of encouragement, hoping to reach her unconscious state.
Rish stood by the window, his eyes fixed on the street below, lost in his own thoughts. He couldn’t shake off the feeling of guilt for not being able to protect Priya from whatever had caused her to collapse.
Jackson leaned against the wall, his expression grave as he contemplated the situation. He couldn’t help but feel responsible for Priya’s well-being, knowing that as the former Beta, it’s his right to protect her, even though it’s the first time he meets her.
Finally, the door opened, after twenty minutes and the witch doctor entered the room. She was an elderly woman, her face lined with age, but her eyes held a depth of wisdom that commanded respect.
“Thank you for coming,” Maya said, her voice filled with gratitude.
The witch doctor nodded, her gaze falling on Priya’s unconscious form. “What seems to be the problem?”
“The Curse.”
