Priya closed her eyes to hold back her tears.
She hates feeling like crying when she doesn’t understand things, and there are so many things she doesn’t understand.
But at least she doesn’t cry about all of them.
In this situation, however, she wants to cry and seek peace in Mary’s arms.
That’s all she wants.
She feels scared and tormented by Priyank’s presence, and his manipulation only makes things worse.
He’s becoming more unpredictable with each passing day, she feels.
‘Save me. Please, Mother Mary,’ she whispered to herself, hoping Priyank wouldn’t hear.
Who knows if he did hear her? He might just throw her out of this moving car.
“Here we are,” Priyank announced as he parked the car, snapping Priya back to reality.
Priya looked at the huge and lavish penthouse.
It was beautiful from the outside and even more stunning on the inside.
Under different circumstances, she would appreciate the place.
But not now, not when she felt like she was imprisoned here.
She opened the door herself, and started walking, not wanting to be carried by him.
He had literally carried her from the day he met her. It felt like she had no legs, though she did, and it made her feel like a baby, the way he carried her.
So it was better to walk by herself.
Priyank was shocked to see her immediately leave without any words. He quickly opened his door and started running towards her to catch up.
“Why the hell did you walk like this, Angel?” he asked, catching his breath and feeling fed up with her stunt.
“Everyone walks like this. Even if their feet may differ, it doesn’t mean they walk differently too, except for a few, for sure,” Priya retorted savagely as she kept walking.
Priya’s retort only fueled Priyank’s frustration. He couldn’t understand why she was being so difficult, especially after everything he had done for her.
“Stop acting like a child, Priya. You know what I meant,” Priyank snapped, his patience wearing thin.
Priya’s jaw clenched as she continued to walk, refusing to acknowledge him. She was tired of his controlling behaviour and constant attempts to assert dominance over her.
“You hear me?” Priyank asked again.
“I do, but I don’t think I am not a child. I am literally younger than you, but you behave like a kid, just like the kids in my orphanage,” Priya replied, quickening her pace.
She wanted to ignore his entire presence.
“You are so irritating, Priya. I don’t know why I am even bothering to catch up with you.”
“As I remember, you kidnapped me. And me being irritating, you don’t have to catch up with me. You can just send me back to my orphanage. I am not here with consent, I have to remind you of that,” Priya rolled her eyes.
Priyank’s frustration reached its peak as Priya’s words hit him like a slap in the face. He couldn’t believe she would throw his actions back at him like that.
“That’s not fair, Priya. You know why I brought you here,” he retorted, his tone defensive.
Priya scoffed, unimpressed by his excuse. “Oh, I don’t know why you brought me here, Priyank. I don’t even want to know. But that doesn’t make it right. You can’t just kidnap someone and expect them to be grateful.”
She continued walking, refusing to engage any further with Priyank.
She reached the door and tried to open it, but it was locked.
She looked at Priyank, who was standing with folded arms, giving no expression, and staring at her as if she was supposed to magically unlock the door.
Which she would have done if it weren’t locked.
“What?” Priyank shrugged his shoulders, trying to suppress a smile that was threatening to escape.
Priya narrowed her eyes at Priyank’s smug demeanour, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. She knew he was enjoying her frustration, but she refused to give him the satisfaction.
“The door is locked, Priyank. Do you have the key?” she asked, her voice tinged with annoyance.
Priyank’s grin widened slightly, but he quickly composed himself. “Of course, I have the key,” he replied, reaching into his pocket.
“But what am I going to get for giving you the keys? You’re being so stubborn. I should get something in return, that’s only fair,” Priyank insisted, dangling the keys in front of Priya’s eyes.
“My head is pounding. I woke up from a coma after two days. Don’t you think that’s enough to earn you something in return? You’ve already done way more than necessary, which isn’t fair at all.”
“Still, I don’t think I’m going to let you off that easily,” Priyank added, a hint of mischief in his voice.
“Give me”
Priya sighed heavily in exasperation, snatching the key from him and unlocking the door herself. She couldn’t wait to be rid of his presence and escape to whatever awaited her on the other side.
As Priya opened the door, she felt a wave of relief wash over her. Finally out of the car, she stepped onto the living room of the penthouse, eager to create some distance between herself and Priyank.
Priyank followed closely behind, his expression inscrutable.
Once inside, Priyank motioned for Priya to take a seat in the living room while he disappeared into another room. Priya hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to expect next.
As she sank into the soft sofa, her mind raced with thoughts of escape.
She glanced at the door, contemplating the idea of making a run for it. But then again, she didn’t know where this penthouse was, and her memory was fuzzy because she had been unconscious when he brought her here.
She couldn’t understand why, but in his presence, she always seemed to end up injured or fainting.
“Sit up straight, sweetheart. I need to bandage your wounds. Let me check,” Priyank said as he fetched a first aid box and sat beside her, rolling up his shirt sleeves.
“I’m fine, you don’t have to check,” Priya replied lazily.
She hadn’t seen her wounds since the day she arrived here because she had been in a coma for two days. She had yet to see them today, and now she didn’t want him doing anything at all.
She felt utterly drained. The beach had initially brought her peace, but now, after the conversation with him, it had left her feeling utterly depleted of energy.
“Not happening.”
