Overthinker

Priya looked at him, hearing concern in his voice. “Yes, I’m feeling much better than before.”
“You don’t seem okay. If you feel anything strange, I can take you to the hospital,” Priyank said, keeping his eyes on the road.
“Why didn’t you take me to the hospital when I was in a coma for two days?” Priya asked, curious about his sudden concern.
She had been unconscious for two days, yet he hadn’t taken her to the hospital during that time.
And now that she was feeling better, he was saying she didn’t look good, which seemed like an odd observation to her.
Priyank’s throat went dry as he struggled to find an excuse.
But deep down, he knew there was none. What could he possibly say?
That he didn’t want anyone else to touch her?
Or that he didn’t call Edward because then his mother would find out about them?
In both cases, it was purely selfish.
“You’re fine now. I don’t think it matters whether I took you to the hospital or not,” Priyank said, his gaze fixed ahead.
“That’s such a relief. I’m glad to hear that,” Priya said, biting her tongue to stop herself from saying more.
His shameless answers were giving her a headache.
Priyank glanced at Priya from the corner of his eye, noticing her frustration. And why wouldn’t she be? He hadn’t done the right thing by not taking her to the hospital.
He had no reason to act like it wasn’t his fault.
“You don’t have to be so relieved,” Priyank jokes, trying to lighten the mood.
Priya clenched her fists, annoyed by his misplaced pride.
“Angel, how about giving me a chance? I can make your life better than you ever imagined,” Priyank said, swallowing hard.
‘He’s already made my life a living hell. What more does he want to do?’ Priya thought to herself.
“I swear, Angel, I can give you anything. You’ll be happy with me, things you’ve never had in your life, you’ll get them without even thinking twice,” Priyank offered.
He hoped she would accept him, his love. Maybe with this, she would accept him?
Because otherwise, she didn’t seem ready to accept him, and who in their right mind would?
Still, he held onto hope that if she spent time with him, she would start to soften without any problem.
“What do I need to accept? You being angry at me, or you hurting me, or you trying to do things with me that I don’t want?” Priya questioned, her soft expressions turning hard.
She couldn’t fathom where he got the idea that he could make her happy and give her everything she wanted.
What she wanted was to be away from him, to have her freedom.
Had he given her that?
No, he hadn’t.
Then, besides pain, what had he given her?
He really needed to reconnect with reality or find some common sense, because he seemed to lack both.
“That’s harsh, Angel,” Priyank pointed out as he heard her words, feeling the sting of her smooth denial.
Though the rejection wasn’t entirely unexpected, it still hurt a bit.
“Not more than you. You’re the worst, harsher than I could ever be,” Priya’s voice dripped with contempt.
“You’re never getting away from me, Angel. So it’d be better if you accepted things with love. Because if I have to, I won’t hesitate to take what I want by force. I always get what I want, so it’s up to you now. If you want to fight it off, then don’t blame me.” he threatened.
Priya’s eyes narrowed, her resolve strengthening in the face of his threats. “That’s delusional.”
Priyank’s expression hardened, his frustration boiling to the surface. “You’ll regret defying me, Angel. No one crosses me and gets away with it.”
But Priya remained unfazed, her determination unyielding. “I’d rather face the consequences of defying you than live with you.”
Priyank gritted his teeth as he listened to her, feeling the urge to retaliate and show her the consequences of crossing him.
But after the events of the past two days, fear gripped him, paralysing his actions.
He had to tread carefully.
“You’re making fun of my feelings so easily. I confessed my love for you, and you’re taking it so lightly, Angel. That’s not right at all,” Priyank expressed, feeling frustrated by her dismissiveness.
He couldn’t understand why he felt compelled to tell her he loved her. Perhaps it was because of her lack of IQ.
He hoped she would simply believe his words and reciprocate, so they could have some happy moments together, like the ones they shared today at the beach.
But her denial baffled him.
“You don’t love me. We don’t hurt people we love. That’s what you need to understand, Priyank. And why are you pushing me? You don’t even know me well enough to love me,” she asserted.
“Do you even understand what love is?” Priyank’s voice dripped with sarcasm as he questioned her.
Love and she didn’t belong in the same sentence.
Not that she wasn’t lovable, but what did she know about love?
Her understanding was superficial at best. She had never had a boyfriend, so it was pathetic for her to act like she knew.
Furthermore, even if Priyank himself lacked expertise in love, his knowledge would still surpass what she could comprehend.
Her IQ is way lower to even take anything well.
“Forget it, I don’t want to talk to you. I love my Mother Mary and the people who show me they deserve it. I don’t love people who hurt or kill,” Priya said, turning her gaze back to the window.
Feeling saddened, tears welled up in her eyes, her mood completely ruined by him.
She had enjoyed herself so much at the beach, and now he had spoiled it all.
First, with his so-called love confession, and now with his threats to make her accept him.
She believed any girl who accepted him or married him would only end up crying.
Who loves like this?
Who hurts like this?
Who makes anyone cry like this?
In her whole life, she had never met anyone like Priyank, and she sincerely hoped that he would leave her life and that she would never encounter people like him again.
Before, she had always thought that her Mother Mary was a bit of an overthinker to say that people can be devils too.
Priyank is definitely a devil without horns.
