Callie returned to Ylosea almost non-stop. She rented a small apartment for herself, not very big, but enough to live in. She handed over almost all the studio matters to Belinda and Eliza, and didn’t even glance at the projects under Oconnor Group. Her entire focus was on the Ellison family.
When Regan came to visit, Callie had just seen photos of Nelson and Charlotte shopping together. The angle captured by the reporter was exquisite, showing the two behaving intimately as if they were truly a couple. The media wrote eye-catching headlines, claiming that the two had met each other’s parents and that Oconnor Group was finally going to have a marriage alliance with the Ellison family.
“You were hard to find. Why don’t you stay at my place?” Regan expressed his dissatisfaction with the small apartment as soon as he entered.
Callie cleared a small corner for her to sit, “Staying at your place all the time is too much trouble for you.”
Hearing this, Regan immediately punched her lightly, showing his displeasure, “You think it’s trouble for me? I haven’t troubled you any less.”
Callie smiled, “The trending topics have been lively these days. Is the Ellison family experiencing a fierce battle?”
Mentioning this, Regan sat down heavily, looking troubled, “More than a that. When Marilyn and Isaac meet, they almost want to kill each other.”
“Why?”
“What else could it be? Marilyn’s scandal and the ongoing investigation into Scott Group have greatly affected the Ellison family. When interests are involved, it’s always .”
“And you? You’re on Isaac’s side. Do you have a chance of winning?” Callie scrutinized him.
“Chance? Even if we beat Marilyn, there’s still someone else in the way.” Regan sneered. Her words implied something.
Callie knew she was referring to Charlotte.
“Doesn’t Charlotte only have ten percent of the shares?”
“But she has firmly grasped your ex-husband in her hands, and that’s the entire Oconnor Group.” Regan said seriously, “If they marry, neither Isaac nor Marilyn will stand a chance.”
Mentioning Nelson made Callie’s smile turn a bit desolate.
Regan frowned, “The news says you have something with… Jamir. What’s going on? Are you really planning to give up on Nelson? Can you bear it?”
Coincidentally, just as Jamir was mentioned, Callie’s phone on the table suddenly rang, showing an area code from Anbusea. She gave an apologetic look and answered the call without speaking.
“You said you’d message me when you arrived so I could wait.” The voice on the other end was young and flirtatious.
Callie was speechless, “It was just an acting.”
“I didn’t take it as acting. You said you’d message me, so I waited. After two days without hearing from you, I got tired of waiting.”
When they were still together, he liked to use this tone when he was angry-clearly upset but still putting on the airs.
Callie laughed out of exasperation, “Then keep waiting. Even after two years, I won’t send anything.”
Jamir was exasperated but amused, “Two years? I can wait.”
“Do you have anything else? If not, I’m hanging up.” Callie exchanged a glance with Regan, whose eyes were full of curiosity.
“Just knowing you’re safe is enough.” Jamir said and then hung up first.
Callie tossed her phone aside. Regan asked, “Who was that? I’ve never seen you so impatient with someone.”
In fact, she had heard a man’s voice earlier – it was relaxed and not at all serious.
“Jamir.”
Confirming her guess, Regan lowered her eyes to hide a trace of special emotion, “Why do you talk to him like that?”
