Callie returned to the hotel, still unable to calm down. The more she thought about it, the angrier she became.
Outside, Eliza said, “Callie, the tickets are booked. The flight is tomorrow afternoon.”
“… Okay.”
Early the next morning, Callie called Jamir. “Didn’t you want to see me off? Take me to the airport this afternoon.”
There was a brief pause on the other end, then a chuckle. “What, want to go public?”
“I’m not interested in that. Are you coming or not?”
“I’ll come.”
Jamir didn’t disappoint. He arrived at the hotel entrance on time in the afternoon. His secretary drove, Eliza sat in the front, and Callie and Jamir sat in the back.
“Anbusea’s specialty, sweet soup. Try it,” Jamir placed a meal in front of her.
Callie didn’t move. “Did you queue up to buy it?”
Jamir was honest. “The secretary bought it.”
In the rearview mirror, the secretary touched his nose, somewhat apologetically.
Callie handed it to Eliza.
Eliza was a bit overwhelmed, unsure whether to accept it. Callie nodded, and Jamir had no other reaction, so Eliza took it.
“Leaving so soon? I thought you were going to investigate Dragon City.” Jamir was busy, still looking at documents in the car.
Callie played with her phone in the corner. “That’s the police’s job.”
Jamir glanced at her. “Actually, Anbusea has more development potential than Ylosea. The power Oconnor Group gave you, I can give you more in the Quinn family.”
Callie looked at him. “It’s all just working for someone else. What’s the difference?”
Jamir smiled. He picked up a document and after a while said, “This morning, I kicked Sammy out of Anbusea. Nelson’s plan to use him to disrupt my forces failed.”
Callie frowned. She hadn’t expected Nelson to do such things.
“I’m not interested in your family matters.”
“The first time he met Sammy, he saw Charlotte in Anbusea,” Jamir suddenly revealed a key piece of information.
This stunned Callie. “How do you know?”
“Because a few days ago, news came from Ylosea that the long-lost daughter of the Ellison family had been found.” Jamir’s smile was bright, with a hint of intrigue.
Callie gripped her phone tightly. “What are you trying to say?”
“Nothing, just thought it was quite a coincidence.” Jamir left it at that and continued reading his document.
At the airport, the secretary retrieved their luggage while Jamir escorted her through security. During this time, Eliza whispered to Callie, “There are reporters taking photos.”
Callie noticed too. She subtly moved closer to Jamir. “You can control these mouthpieces, right?”
Jamir placed his hand on her shoulder. “Suddenly so high-profile, who do you want to see this? You’re the first to dare use me.”
Callie shook off his hand. “If you’re not willing, you can leave now.”
“I’m willing. I said I’d gladly let you use me.” Jamir smiled nonchalantly.
In the VIP lounge, they saw some familiar faces.
Sienna and Charlotte were on the same flight.
Sienna sat in a corner, eyes closed, fiddling with prayer beads, looking very serene and devout.
Every time Callie saw her, she felt calm, but this time there was added tension. Her fingers clenched tightly, turning white at the tips as countless emotions welled up in her eyes.
The eyesore was Charlotte sitting beside her.
“Miss Marsh.” She stood up first, breaking the brief silence.
Callie snapped back to reality, seeing Sienna open her eyes and look at her with an unwavering gaze.
“Nice to see you again.” She nodded.
