Sienna heard Callie’s voice and slowly opened her eyes.
It might have been an illusion, but when Callie stood next to Charlotte, they looked so similar that Sienna almost mistook one for the other. However, upon closer inspection, their appearances were quite different.
Callie nodded to her, and Sienna smiled slightly.
They were once acquaintances, but now estranged strangers after what had happened between them.
“He’s here, you should go now,” Callie said, turning around and adjusting Jamir’s tie.
It seemed natural, as if they were quite close.
Jamir withdrew his gaze and held her hand, “You’re just going to let me go like this?”
Callie silently glared at him and forced a smile, “Take care of yourself in Anbusea, don’t make me worry.”
These words didn’t seem like something she would say. Jamir’s lips curved into a playful yet satisfied smile, “That’s easy.”
He still didn’t let go of her hand.
Callie pulled back forcefully, “Don’t let me see your scandals with other women, or I’ll come back to Anbusea.”
Jamir’s hand fell empty, but his smile remained, clearly enjoying it, “Anbusea always welcomes you.”
After speaking, he gave Callie a hug and whispered in her ear, “I wish this act would never end.”
Callie subtly pushed him away and said with a smile, “Have a safe trip. I’ll message you when you arrive.”
Reluctantly, Jamir stepped back with a look that only a man in love would have.
After he left, Callie sat beside Charlotte. The latter asked, “Are you dating? Weren’t you just saying yesterday that he was pursuing you?”
Callie looked puzzled, “I never said I was with him.”
Seeing Charlotte’s curious expression, she smiled, “Who knows what the future holds? He wants to be good to me, let him. There’s no loss.”
Charlotte’s smile stiffened, probably because there were many things she couldn’t say in Sienna’s presence.
“Sienna,” Callie suddenly called out.
Charlotte looked up warily.
Sienna looked over, questioning.
Callie slowed her breathing and examined her face closely. “Has the worship in Anbusea ended? I was thinking of coming over next quarter; we might be on the same route.”
Upon hearing this, Sienna’s expression relaxed a bit. “It’s already over. There’s no need to go together. You don’t believe in religion anyway; there’s no need to force it.”
Between the lines, it was clear that Sienna knew Callie quite well, as if they had known each other for years.
Charlotte’s back straightened, and she forgot to blink.
“After so many things happened at home one after another, I tend to have some beliefs,” Callie said as she walked behind Sienna and placed her hands on her shoulders. “I suppose you went through the same many years ago.”
Mentioning the past made Charlotte frown. She couldn’t help but interject, “It’s all over now. I’ve come back.”
“Yes, you have,” Callie said calmly. Sienna’s hair had turned quite white. Seeing this made Callie feel somewhat upset. “But it doesn’t erase the pain of those years. Look, Sienna’s hair is all white.”
As she spoke, she plucked a strand and showed it to Charlotte.
Sienna frowned slightly. “It’s normal for old people to have white hair.”
Callie smiled and let her hand fall. “I’m just reminding Miss Ellison not to forget the past and to care for your mother.”
“… Of course I know that.” Charlotte’s hands clenched tightly in front of her, revealing her nervousness. She suddenly couldn’t understand Callie anymore.
