Camille nodded politely. “Of course. He still has something to say to me, so I have to go in. Sorry for the trouble.”
Camille was very polite, making the prison guard feel flattered.
After all, Camille had Ayan behind her. If Camille could put in a good word for him in front of Ayan, it would naturally be beneficial.
The prison guard whispered, “Ms. Armstrong, why didn’t Mr. Simpson come today?”
“He’s busy,” Camille replied casually, understanding why her visits to Brody in the prison were going so smoothly.
She pursed her lips and said no more, then returned to the room where Brody was.
When Brody saw her coming in, his emotions eased slightly.
Brody spoke up, “What do you want from me?”
“It’s still the same question. Give me an answer, and everything will be fine.”
“Alright, I’ll tell you everything.”
Brody revealed everything he knew, including the Bill family and people directly related to Camille.
Learning about the other party’s identity shocked Camille.
Her expression became solemn and uneasy, filled with disbelief.
Brody noticed her surprise and sensed that something was off. He asked, “You didn’t know? Ayan didn’t tell you?”
Camille remained silent, keeping a serious face.
Brody immediately realized that Camille had tricked him. He exclaimed, “You deceived me! You don’t know anything. Ayan has been keeping it from you, hasn’t he?”
Camille remained silent, neither confirming nor denying it.
Brody flared up. “Camille, you lied to me!”
Camille looked at Brody indifferently and said, “I’ve already heard everything you should and shouldn’t have said. Does it matter whether I lied to you or not?”
Camille maintained a calm expression with a particularly cold demeanor. She warned Brody, “It’s best if you don’t let Ayan know that you’ve already told me. Otherwise, you’ll be worthless to him.”
Camille could read a lot of information from Brody’s reaction and the prison guard’s words earlier. She could make a rough guess.
She looked at the silent Brody and added, “I won’t let Ayan know that I already know everything. But if you insist on telling him, it’s fine too. I just don’t know what you’ll face.”
She looked at him coolly. He hadn’t said a word, and Camille didn’t want to waste any more time here.
What if Ayan happened to show up? They would end up running into each other.
So she didn’t want to linger any longer. She didn’t want to take that risk.
She knew he was keeping things from her for her own good, not wanting her to feel hurt or upset.
In that case, she would pretend she didn’t know anything.
Camille pressed her lips together, her expression a bit frosty as she left the prison. She got into her car and drove aimlessly around.
Her phone rang at this moment.
She answered while paying attention to the road. Sienna’s voice came through the phone. “Your man has come to the office. He just arrived. What should I say?”
Camille immediately tensed up upon hearing this. She asked, “Why did he suddenly come?”
“It must be related to the project. I’m not very clear about what the big shot is up to. All I know is that he went straight to Mario’s office after arriving. As for other details, I’m not sure yet.”
Sienna didn’t know where Camille had gone these past few days. She only knew that Camille had been acting weird and refused to share any information when asked. As a pregnant woman herself, Sienna didn’t want to pry too much and thought it was important to set a good example for her unborn child.
Camille responded with a low hum and calmly said, “You don’t have to deliberately tell him anything. If he asks, just say I went back to the company for some business.”
“What if he asks Yessica about it?”
“Let him ask! I’m actually just on my way to the company now.”
“So you really have some business at the company!”
“Not entirely. I’m just passing by after finishing some things. I’ll tell you later,” Camille replied in a low voice.
She had just arrived at the company parking lot, merely passing by without knowing where else to go. It had been a while since she last visited the office, and she thought it would be a surprise. Plus, the company was relatively close to the hospital, making it convenient for her to pick up the test results later.
After parking her car, Camille took the elevator up.
She quietly appeared in the office, catching everyone off guard at this hour.
Yessica had just finished her breakfast.
She still used her own office and was munching on bread while staring at her computer screen without noticing Camille’s presence.
Seeing Yessica busy like this, Camille cleared her throat softly before Yessica finally reacted with surprise on her face.
Yessica finished chewing her bread before speaking softly, “Camille, why did you suddenly come?”
Camille walked in and put down her bag as she looked at Yessica before saying, “What’s going on with you? Does work matter more than your health? Maybe I made a mistake leaving you here.”
Yessica quickly responded, “It really was just this one time. It won’t happen again. I mainly rushed back this morning because of some documents and was short on time for breakfast. So I grabbed something quickly instead of eating out.”
“Even if you’re busy, you should take care of yourself. Otherwise, having that villa won’t mean anything if you don’t take care of yourself. If you don’t cherish your health, then forget about the villa. I’m worried you’ll sell it once it’s in your hands.”
“I really understand my mistake now. Please don’t take away my villa!”
Yessica quickly wiped her hands clean before rushing over to hug Camille while pleading for mercy.
Although Yessica had taken charge now, there wasn’t much difference from when she first came here…
Camille gave her a warning but eventually forgave her for Kian’s sake.
Afterwards, they discussed recent developments in the company, which were going smoothly overall. The projects were progressing well. Even though they weren’t major ones, they had good prospects. After completing these projects, Camille planned not to keep Yessica confined in the company all the time but hoped she could go out for some experience. She could be promoted to partner next.
However, she didn’t plan on telling Yessica yet, afraid that it would make her too proud or show off in front of Kian.
After discussing work matters, Yessica curiously asked, “Camille, did you come today just to surprise me?”
“I came specifically to see if you’ve been working well.”
“I work hard all the time just to repay you.”
“You better be!”
The two bantered back and forth before having lunch together.
If Sienna hadn’t mentioned that Ayan went to the SynergyCon project team earlier,
Camille wouldn’t have believed it because there was no sign of him going there at all. Wasn’t it common sense for him to contact her even if they didn’t meet?
What exactly was Ayan up to?
