EVOLET
The morning was finally here.
I could feel the sun hitting down on my skin form the window where I laid on the ground next to Cadell.
But instead of rising up to my feet, I remained there in my pervy wolf’s arms, staring at his face.
He still had his eyes shut, resting his tired body from all the energy he unleashed on me.
It felt like I was seeing his face for the first time in so many years, even though we’ve been together all these while.
Still, I was happy to have him by my side.
He’s the best thing the heaven has ever given to me.
The perfect mate.
“How long are you going to stare at me?” I heard Cadell ask, slowly opening his eyes to gaze back at me.
I smiled at him and said, placing my hand on his cheek to caress him, “It depends on how long you plan on laying down here, pretending to be asleep.”
“Oh, so you knew I was awake, huh?” He smirked, pulling me close.
I giggled and planted a kiss on his lips before he made the first move.
“Now that we’re both awake, can we finally get up and…”
“No,” I refused, cuddling myself on his chest. “Just a few more minutes, please,” I requested, holding him tight.
Hearing this, Cadell laughed and reminded me of the time we where at Trent’s place and how I battled with his own request that particular morning.
“Now you are the one who’s feeling the honeymoon vibe. Sweet, I like it,” He chuckled, stroking me on the back.
I blushed at his words and said, defending myself, “My case is different from yours, Grandpa.” I poked his nose, making my point. “You were being crazy and I’m just being simple.”
“Simple or not, we’re the same.” He winked, forcing me down to get all cozy with me.
But before we could do anything, we heard a knock outside the room, followed by a familiar voice calling out to us. “Evolet, Cadell… Are you guys in there?”
“Derby?” I recognized her voice.
My memory flash to the ones who stood beside Cadell and I during this present battle.
My new found family.
“We’re here. Give us some minute, please,” Cadell responded to Derby while staring at the door.
“Oh that’s great. Well… we’re all waiting for you two at the living room. Don’t fall asleep, okay?” She joked, laughing at us.
But from her tune, I could sense she was worried.
She soon left the door after Cadell responded to her joke, leaving us silent.
Well, I was mostly the silent one after she left.
I was feeling a bit down.
“Evolet, are you okay?” Cadell asked, placing his hand on me.
Smiling a little, I mentioned my name, “Evolet,” reaching for my bear neck which was free from the necklace.
“That’s the name you gave to me after what happened. My new identity,” I said, turning to face Cadell.
He kept his gaze fixed at me without uttering any word. Let’s just say he doesn’t need to to say something to show how much he understands me. He always does.
With a smile, I commented, “I really love it. It’s so unique and rare.”
“Just like you of course. Rare, unique, special… Wonderful. That name indicates how precious you are to me. A rare gem,” He flirted, stealing my heart with his words.
Swept off my feet, I drew myself into his arms and begged him to sing more of his undying love into my ear.
“I miss how you make my heart swell with your praises,” I giggled, wrapping his arms around my body.
.
Later, Cadell and I were heading to the living room, holding each other’s hands tight.
The passage leading into the room had long thick curtains, which kept the sun out of the palace.
It was important to keep the Vampires within, alive and safe. Most especially the Queen.
And speaking of her, I could pick her scent straight ahead, as well as the others.
They are all together.
Arriving at the room, we met them sitting down and waiting for us worriedly. When they spotted Cadell and I at the entrance, they got to their feet in a haste, staring back at us anxiously.
The one who looked more troubled was the woman who raised me up as her own daughter for years.
She looked scared.
I could understand the feeling she was in at that moment. It explains her sudden mood after she handed me over to Cadell.
Carefully, I pulled away from my spot and went up to Agnes.
Her eyes popped a little when she saw me coming. She made an effort by dragging her feet forward a bit, before coming to a stop .
When I stood before her, the first thing she did was stare at my neck, before gulping down the lump in her throat to take a bow.
When I saw this, I immediately held her shoulders and stopped her from taking such step.
“Mom, please don’t,” I pleaded, swaying my head at her.
When she heard me, she gasped, staring into my eyes emotionally.
“So what if you didn’t give birth to me? You are still the one who watched over me despite all the problems that came our way. You never gave up on me, and I won’t do the same either.”
“Evolet,” She called with her eyes welling up with tears.
“You are the proud mother of a Queen, and that’s the truth,” I said, cupping her face.
Stirred up with emotions, Mom broke down in tears and pulled me close for a hug. I didn’t hesitate to hold her tight, thanking her for always protecting and scolding me.
“I won’t leave you, Mom. I’m still your daughter,” I promised, lifting my head to notice the others.
By now, they already know what is going on.
Scarlet, who was standing next to Trent and Derby, had a different expression from the others.
Her lips were already spreading into a smile, as she glanced at Cadell many times, probably waiting for a signal to make her move.
Reading her body language, I said, pulling myself out of Mom’s hold, “You know you’re now a Queen, right?” I smirked, opening my arms wide.
When she saw this, Scarlet dived right in with speed, almost throwing me off my feet!
“Wow!” I exclaimed, maintaining my balance while laughing at her.
She’s so excited to have me back.
“I don’t care about the age difference, Luna. I’m still your little bat.”
“Of course you are,” I chuckled, stroking her on the hair.
“Luna Violet,” Trent called, drawing closer with Derby.
His face was filled with delight while Derby had… Well, she had the Derby expression.
“It’s an honor to finally be in your presence,” Trent said, bowing his head.
Derby, who saw what he did, funnily bowed her head lower than Trent, repeating the same words he used.
Her action got me laughing. She still hasn’t dropped this behavior.
I had to cover my face and beg them both to stop. “Come on, you are making me feel like a stranger. It’s still me, Evolet!”
“We know, but we can’t deny the truth,” Trent said, pointing at the difference between the both of us.
“You’re not just our Eve, but the greatest Queen of all time. You are adored by many creatures.”
“In other word, a legend,” Derby added.
She tried to act proper by being all respectful towards me due to my status, but she was finding it hard.
“I know things are going to change between us my Queen, but is it okay if I call you Evolet whenever we’re alone? That’s after we… you know.” Her face turned red while trying to find the right words to use.
Seeing how adorable she looked, I came out chortling, and said, embracing Derby tightly, “Please drop this creepy side, D. Queen or not, I’m still your friend. You don’t need my permission to call me Evolet. Nothing will change between us.”
“So, we’re still besties?” She asked, lifting her head to look at me.
I smirked at her and replied, poking her on the nose, “Not besties but sisters, you silly girl.”
That made her extremely happy. She threw herself on me, and shrieked out excitedly, “Thank you heaven! We’re still sisters!”
“Very soon I won’t be calling you Derby alone, but Luna Derby. Isn’t that right, Kitty?” I smirked at my Alpha Cat, who flushed at my words, rubbing the back of his neck shyly.
Pleased, I said, pulling him closer so I could have both of my best friends in my hold, “I’m happy for you two, Trent. You finally found your mate. Honestly, I can’t wait to attend your mate bonding ceremony real soon.”
“I own it all to you, Eve. You made this possible. Thank you for everything,” Trent appreciated, embracing me.
This moment made me so happy.
I felt so much alive.
Scarlet made the day even more special by hosting a party amongst ourselves, to celebrate our coming together as a team.
“With our great Luna by our side, the peace that was once snatched away from every creature would be restored!” She cheered, lifting her glass high into the air.
We all did the same by raising our glasses, cheering out loudly with joy in our voices.
But Scarlet’s statement took my mind to those two who are in control of Wolf Fall. The ones who ruined everything, including my happiness.
“Christy… I won’t forgive you for what you did to my Cadell, my people, every creatures, and to me. You and that old hag won’t be going against Evolet this time, but the real Queen of Wolf Fall.”
