EVOLET
“You think you’ve won, huh? Well you’re wrong!” Scarlet roared, struggling to fight off Cadell. But her strength was no match for his.
Cadell had Scarlet on her knees, as he held her wings with one hand, threatening with a deep cold tone, “Trust me, I won’t look at the fact that you’re a lady. I will rip your wings off if you get on my nerves any further.”
“Cadell,” I gasped at his words, locking eyes with him.
He shrugged at me with a smirk and said, “What? She’s stubborn. At least her father was never like this. She needs someone to lecture her.”
“I know that, but… ripping her wings?” I lifted my brow at him.
When he saw my gaze, he groaned and rolled his eyes, before looking back at Scarlet to change his statement. “Fine, I won’t rip them off. But you need to drop this habit or else…”
Just then, Scarlet began to laugh at Cadell and I, lifting her head to look at us.
Settling her gaze on me, she said, delivering a nasty glare, “I’m curious to know how an Omega like you acquired such a gift. First you can hide the level of your ability, then there’s the ability to take someone’s power… Tell me your secret, Evolet. Where did you learn all these from?”
Her eyes shimmered with desire. She was desperate to know how a mere Omega like myself got such great skills.
“Even the great sorceress Thelma has never pulled your kind of tricks before. I bet she’s beneath your feet. But you… ” She glanced back at Cadell before looking at me, asking, “You even made a copy of the legendary dark blood himself. How?”
“What?” I uttered at her words, looking at Cadell.
She thinks I made him?
Can’t she see that he’s the same dark blood from years back?
I was expecting Cadell to react to this, but he didn’t.
In fact, he didn’t look surprised one bit. He just glanced at me, before dropping his attention on Scarlet.
“You think I made a copy of him?” I asked, staring right at her.
She had a curve spreading to the side of her lips. That’s when she said, believing the only tale she grew up with, “Of course you did. Everyone knows that Cadell vanished after Luna Violet’s death. It is said that the great battle took his life, leaving no trace of him.”
“Are you serious?” I asked, finding this story mind blowing.
“It’s like the popular saying that has been in existence. The darkness always follows his light,” She said, referring to Cadell and Luna Violet.
Is this the tale other creatures lived with because they never saw Pervy wolf again after that war?
Of course. He couldn’t leave Wolf Fall because of the shield placed around the pack by Thelma, and because of me.
He just couldn’t leave me in the hands of the enemies.
“You don’t have to act surprised, Eve. I bet the sorceress and Chriselda already told you the tale, that’s why you were able to create a perfect replica of the original just to deceive me,” She scoffed, swaying her head.
“You even shared some of my past with him, trying to get through to me! Like seriously?” She laughed.
Hearing this, I realized why Cadell took time to come and meet us. He was trying to make Scarlet see the truth by revealing himself to her.
But her stone heart wouldn’t allow it.
“She’s swimming deeper into the dark world she created, refusing to believe what her heart tells her. Well, not any more.” I stared down at my hand, knowing exactly what to do.
Ready for this, I said, “I never made a replica of Cadell nor am I working hand in hand with the sorceress or Chriselda. If you wish to know the secret behind my gift, then…” I extended my hand out to her. “Take my hand.”
“Is this another trick of yours?” She glowered at me suspiciously, having doubts.
When Cadell released her wings from his grip, Scarlet became a bit lost. She couldn’t tell if this was a trap or not.
She wasn’t sure of what to do next.
“This is not a trick to hurt you, Scarlet. I mean what I’m saying. Please, trust me,” I said, smiling at her.
One more look at my face and she grumpily grabbed my hand, accepting my wish.
“Just know that if you’re lying, I’ll…” Scarlet suddenly froze.
I felt when her hand trembled in my hold. That was the sign I was waiting for.
It’s finally happening!
On lifting my head to look at her, I no longer saw the Vampire Queen, but an adorable child, staring into my eyes innocently, while holding my hand in a beautiful purple garden.
From my dressing, I could tell I was no longer myself but Luna Violet. And somehow… I could feel her emotions for Scarlet.
“Luna?” Scarlet called in her tiny trembling voice, shivering before me.
When I saw this, my heart broke.
She came out crying and fell on her knees, screaming with so much pain in her voice, “No, this… this is fake! This is not real!”
“Scarlet,” I called, going on my knees to cup the face of the little vampire.
She was crying bitterly and didn’t want to look into my eyes. But with a a few strokes wiping off her tears, Scarlet opened her eyes to gaze at me.
My heart melted at the sight of her beautiful red eyeballs.
So… innocent.
“You’re still your Daddy’s little bat,” I giggled, caressing her face.
When she heard those words, those pretty crimson balls sparkled.
And before my eyes, little Scarlet grew into her adult self, still kneeling before me.
The only problem was her skin. It wasn’t pale but black, and her eyes were pure red.
That’s a sign of how lost she was without her father or the late Queen to fill the emptiness in her heart.
She had no one to share her life with.
“Violet,” Scarlet called me by the Queen’s name, looking me straight into the eyes.
“Are… are you really Violet?” She asked, shedding bloody tears.
The sight of her drops touched me deeply.
I wanted to tell her that I was just the bearer, but a different feeling moved me to say the opposite.
“Yes… It’s me.”
When Scarlet heard my response, the broken Queen busted into tears, falling right on me for a tight embrace!
I tried to control my emotion and be the Queen she has always known, but what she said next made me submit.
“WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?! I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD! I WAS… ALL ALONE.” She wept, squeezing me tight.
Her sobbing voice melted my heart. I felt my eyes turn heavy, with tears streaming from the side.
It was hard to keep in. I couldn’t hold back my emotions.
“I’m sorry,” I apologized to Scarlet, embracing her.
As the vampire Queen cried in my hold, I saw her skin changing back to normal.
She’s healing up!
Just then, my eyes came opened, and I saw Scarlet and I kneeling on the ground outside her palace, still holding each other.
She was weeping, refusing to let go.
“You’re back. You’re back,” She mumbled, clinging to me like a baby to her mother.
The heart of her inner child is back. Scarlet is now better.
I lifted my eyes at Cadell, who knelt before me, asking with a smile, “All good? Or do I need to clip her wings?”
“Cadell,” I chuckled, swaying my head.
Scarlet lifted her head when Cadell made that statement.
Instead of getting mad at him, she threw herself into his arms, laughing out. “I can’t believe it’s really you! I thought you died.”
“Oh, now you know I’m the original, huh?” He smirked, wrapping his arms around Scarlet.
“You’re lucky that Evolet has your back. I had a different plan to wipe you out,” He said without any fear, winking at me.
I smiled at Cadell, feeling so relieved with the successful operation on Scarlet.
I finally got through to her.
.
Due to our battle with Queen Chriselda and Thelma, Scarlet suggested that we stay at her pack, so she can protect me from the enemies.
We all agreed, including Trent, who now felt calm with his former enemy, after witnessing her transformation.
I even saw Scarlet in Trent and Derby’s room late midnight, apologizing to them for her action.
She came to me about it earlier, feeling guilty for all the troubles she caused the Werecats.
Since she looks up to me, I advised her to speak to them, and she did.
Now both Alpha Cat and Vampire Queen are at peace.
But one thing was still bothering me, and that’s the fact that I told Scarlet I was Violet instead of the real truth.
I can’t help but feel uncomfortable.
Cadell wasn’t around for me to discuss my worries to. He had to head back to the Werecat’s pack to get Mom. So, I ended up strolling into Scarlet’s living room, speaking to Luna Violet’s portrait.
“Did I do the right thing?” I asked, staring at the picture.
“It was the only way out of the problem. She was lost and… She needed you. I had to tell her I’m indeed you when… it’s a big lie,” I sighed, lowering my head down sadly.
That’s when I heard from behind, “You never lied, Evolet.”
“Mom?”
I turned over and found my mother standing halfway across the room.
“You’re here!” Excited, I rushed up to her and gave her a big hug.
“I heard what happened. You were brave, my dear.” She smiled, cupping my face.
I wanted to return the gesture, but I couldn’t.
Mom noticed and said, leading me to the couch, “Evolet, when there’s a problem, there’s always a solution out of it. Scarlet needed the presence of Luna Violet, and you made it possible. Everything is fine now! We now have the Vampires on our side, just like you planned.”
“Yeah, I know, but…” My eyes fell on the portrait again.
Holding Mom’s hand tight, I said, “Sometimes I always find myself wishing for Luna Violet’s life. You can image the number of lost souls out there, seeking for the late Queen’s presence. If I had it, I could make everything better again.”
“Silly girl,” Mom chuckled, poking me on the arm.
“Why ask for something that’s already yours?”
“You make me sound like a thief,” I laughed at her, poking her back.
“Have you forgotten that I’m just a bearer?” I reminded her, lifting my brow.
Mom smiled without a response.
That’s when she gave out a sigh and said, “What if you weren’t the bearer but Violet herself?”
“Now I’m taking her place? NO!” I laughed, taking it as a joke.
But Mom… She wasn’t laughing.
Her smile had faded into seriousness. It made me a bit scared.
“Mom?”
“Evolet…” She turned to face me, taking both of my hands in hers. “I know Cadell said he’ll talk to you anytime form now, but… I want to tell you my own side of the truth before he does,” She stared into my eyes, making my heart race.
What’s going on?
“My dear, please forgive me for keeping this away from you. The truth is… I’m not… I’m not your real mother.”
“What?!” I was shocked to the core!
What is she saying?!
