TRENT
For years, those bats and their Queen have been troubling my pack, looking for means to get to me. And now… They finally did it.
If I had picked Scarlet’s scent real quick, Derby wouldn’t have gotten into that demon Queen’s hold.
Now I can’t help but feel so guilty.
My Derby was stabbed.
She was bleeding terribly.
“I’ll make her pay for hurting her. She will regret this!” I ran further into the Woods with so much rage in my blood, following Derby’s scent, as well as Queen Scarlet.
It was far from me, but due to their blood which was engulfing the air, I could still trace their location without missing my way.
I dashed ahead with so much speed and desperation in my heart.
“If only I was present when she showed up, none of this would have happened. This is why I said having Vampires as close allies is a big mistake!” I sparked, pouncing to a high tree to have a clear view of my surrounding.
On getting to the top, I spotted the vampires hovering in the air, above a city.
Both Derby and Scarlet’s scents were coming from that direction.
I growled at the sight of the pack and made my way there without hesitation.
When I got close to the entrance, my path was blocked by those bats. About twelve of them came out and surrounded me with golden chains in their hold.
They came prepared.
“You’re wasting your time,” I spoke out in a deep tone, glancing from one vampire to another. “No need to drag me to your Queen. I can hunt her down on my own.”
“You will do no such thing to our Queen. You are coming with us,” A vampire dared, signaling the others to make their move.
When they all went for the attack, tossing their chains at me, I didn’t avoid it or flee from that point. Instead, I grabbed the chains with my hands, pulled them closer to me and gave them the thunderous beat down of their lives.
On experiencing my rage, one of the vampires tried to flee back into the pack and alert the others. But he ran out of luck when he felt my grip around his neck, meeting my burning gaze.
In terror, he begged, “Please, spare me. Don’t hit me!”
“Your Queen should have thought of that when she took that step in harming someone dear to me,” I groaned, slamming the fellow to the ground, before delivering a punch to the face that silenced him completely.
With the gateway cleared, I stormed into the pack, tracing Scarlet down to her hideout.
My presence was soon known by the people. The passers-by saw a tiger stepping into their land, and became terrified, running away for their dear lives, with their voices screaming at the top of their lungs.
Their cries were heard by the Vampire guards, who came prepared to fight.
When I spotted them, I immediately recognized the ones who followed their Queen to her so-called battle. That added to my rage, because it kept reminding me of the pain Derby was in.
Furious, I charged right at the guards, and got into a fight with them.
They couldn’t strike back due to my speed. I made it hard, inflicting pains on them from every corner.
From breaking their body parts to the crumbling of their wings, I didn’t care if they died in the process, because I was bent on wiping them out from this world.
At the sight and taste of my intense fury, they began to make a retreat, terrified of my wrath.
But I wasn’t done with them. I wanted them to suffer!
Speedily, I pounced in their front and gave a roar that frightened the vampires back.
To ran back in fear, trying to escape me.
Only one got unlucky.
He lost his balance and fell, giving me the chance to capture him before he makes a move.
“AHHH!” He screamed out, struggling to pull himself out of my grip.
“Mercy! Mercy, please!!” He begged through his bleeding mouth, joining his arms at my face.
But his words had no effect on me.
He’s a vampire after all.
As I was about to serve him with a strike that’ll knock him out for good, something small began to hit me from behind, yelling, “LEAVE MY FATHER!”
On hearing that tiny tone, I turned around and saw a little boy, trying to rescue his father from me. He had tears in his eyes, as he punched me on the leg, challenging me to a fight.
“Face me!” He roared, kicking my leg.
“Father?” I picked that word, glancing at both of them.
The guard became scared and begged me to spare his child. “Don’t hurt him, please.”
Like that wasn’t enough, a woman came towards me and grabbed the little one in her hold, pleading for the guard’s life.
She turned out to be his wife. An expecting mother!
“Please!” She cried, bowing her head before me. “Have mercy on us.”
Seeing this, my body shivered.
Their cries reminded me of my own father and how lonely I felt when I lost him. I had to struggle on my own, hoping to find someone one day that will fill the gap in my heart.
And I finally found that hope in Derby.
Looking at this family, I felt like a villain all because of someone’s action.
For the sake of the pregnant lady and her son, I released the guard out of my hold, allowing him to be with his family.
“Thank you!” She cried, holding her husband close.
I stared at them as they wept on their knees, comforting each other.
My heart ached as I thought about my Derby and the state she was in.
If I don’t get to her quickly, I may never get to experience the sweet life of a happy home.
From the corners of my eyes, I noticed other members of the pack watching us. Their eyes were fixed on me, staring at my action in astonishment.
I shoved their presence aside and made my way to Scarlet’s hideout, following her trail.
It didn’t take long for me to arrive outside a large dark palace, with guards trooping out for battle, ready to attack.
They were now aware of my arrival. Meaning Scarlet knows I’m here.
In my desperation, I barged into their midst with force, beating the guards out of my way.
As I fought with them, I immediately picked a tingling sensation from behind.
When I turned over to look, I saw Scarlet blasting a spell right at my direction.
More like a spell trap!
I immediately avoided it by using one of the guards to take the hit. The fellow turned into gold, freezing in his spot.
Raged, I viciously cleared the guards out of my path and used a few to block the Queen’s attack.
Her eyes widened with fear when she saw how close I got to her. To avoid me, she sprang her wings open and flew into the air, releasing her charms at me.
My battle stance changed when she took this step. I even noticed how weakly she flew, meaning she was still in pain from her earlier fight with Derby.
That helped me in studying her movement.
She blasted once more, only for her to lose her focus when I flung one of her golden guards at her, making her confused.
Seeing this, I swiftly sprang high to an opened window at the middle floor of the palace, gave myself a boost towards Scarlet and… “NOO!” She screamed when I got hold of her leg and forced her down to the ground!
Scarlet couldn’t break lose.
Her neck was buried under the large tight grip of my paw, making her submit to her own defeat.
“Any more tricks from you, and I’ll snap your neck,” I warned, growling at the Queen.
She stared at me in anger and yelled at her guards, who were running towards us to save her, “Stand down!”
“My Queen.”
“I said stand down!” she repeated, gulping hard.
They all obeyed, drawing back worriedly.
With that settled, I demanded, glaring right into her eyes, “Where’s Derby?”
“After all this time, I finally pushed the buttons of the Tiger. Such an intense flame for a girl who is from the enemy’s side,” She chuckled, before choking out when I squeezed her neck to shut her up.
“I won’t repeat myself for the third time, Scarlet. If you don’t tell me were Derby is, I’ll…”
“Kill me?” She completed, smirking out without any fear.
“That’s the only thing you can do to me, Alpha. I bet it’s your new Masters that gave you that order,” She said, referring to Evolet.
“It’s what she wants. Use the dumb ass Cat to clear the Bat, and pave way for the Dogs to rule us all.” She scoffed, swaying her head at me. “That’s our goal, all of us. From Werewolf, to Werecats, to Werebears, Vampires… That’s what we want, Trent. To trample on every other creatures.”
“And you think Evolet is devilish like you?” I asked, sensing her deep hate for the Werewolves.
She scoffed with a reply, “I don’t think, but know. She’s a Werewolf after all. She can’t be trusted. The same goes to the both of us. Trust no one.” She tilted her head, glaring at me coldly.
“You’re asking for your girlfriend’s return, right? What makes you think I’m going to listen to you, Alpha?” She simpered, chuckling at me.
“Even if you kill me now, you won’t find her anywhere in this pack. Who knows how many minute she has left before she kicks the bucket.”
“Scarlet!” I groaned, tightening her neck angrily.
She didn’t care but laughed at me, saying, “If you really love her so much, then you have to give your pack to me, so I can save your girlfriend before she bleeds to death. But if you think you can find her without fulfilling my demands… Then Goodluck.”
Her words stroke my rage even more.
I was ready to break her neck when suddenly… “TRENT!” I heard a familiar voice call out to me from the side.
It was Evolet’s!
I turned and saw her coming towards me while yelling out, “Don’t do it!” She pleaded.
The guards saw her and wanted to hold Eve down, so they could use her against me. But they retreated when Cadell made his presence known.
His aura alone sent them running and abandoning their Queen behind.
Scarlet didn’t mind. She was only annoyed to see Evolet here.
“Trent, don’t listen to her. She’s only trying to fill your heart with the same rage she has been nurturing for years,” Evolet said, alerting me of the Queen’s plan.
When Scarlet heard this, she got mad and yelled out, “Enough of your nonsense! Stop pretending to know it all when you’re don’t!”
“Am I? Then how about explaining this,” Evolet pointed at the entrance of the palace.
I directed my attention there and saw Cadell bringing Derby out!
I don’t even know when he snuck into the palace. He was just here a few minute ago.
“Derby?” My heart glowed when I saw her leaping out, looking right at me.
At the sight of her smile, I quickly got off Scarlet and rushed up to meet with her.
“Trent,” Derby called, drawing away from Cadell.
When we got closer to each other, I pulled Derby into my arms, embracing her tightly.
“Thank the Goddess you’re okay! I was so scared.”
“I’m fine, Trent. I’m okay now.”
“What about your injury?” I asked, checking her ribs.
Taking a look at the spot Scarlet stabbed her, I was stunned to see the wound gone!
That’s when Derby revealed what had happened. “The Queen took care of it.”
“What?” My eyes popped at her words.
Scarlet cured her?
This same Scarlet?!
“It felt weird when I saw her taking responsibility for her own action. It was creepy but eye opening too,” Derby said, looking right at her.
The Vampire Queen tried to flee but got stopped by Cadell, who saw right through her move.
She screamed out loudly, demanding to be released.
“Scarlet isn’t bad. She’s only lost in the negative energy she surrounded herself in for years.”
“What makes you say that?” I asked, facing Derby.
That’s when she shared, holding my hand tight, “She speaks to the portrait of her late father and the late Luna Violet in her living room, asking them for solutions. I saw her telling the Luna’s image how she took a step in curing me despite her hatred for Werewolves. She… she looked innocent.”
I was surprised to hear this.
“She’s lost, Trent. And if Evolet could tell how close she was to the late Luna, then I’m sure she can find a way to get her out of the darkness she’s dwelling in,” Derby said with confidence, burying herself on my chest.
I didn’t object to her words.
After all, it was Evolet and Cadell who made me the man I am today.
If it was possible with me, then Scarlet is no exception.
