“What?! Say that again!”
Johnny’s voice was deafening, startling the man, who took a few steps back, fearing his eardrums might burst.
“That’s what he told me…”
The person in charge was at a loss for words!
It wasn’t his decision to arrange the blind date!
Johnny clenched his fists tightly and walked directly towards Tilda’s parents’ apartment.
He knocked on the door, and it was still Tilda’s father who answered.
Seeing an unfamiliar face, Tilda’s father became somewhat alert, suspiciously sizing up the tall young man before him.
“What do you want?”
“Tilda is going on a blind date?” Johnny was no longer rational and didn’t care about his tone as he spoke.
Tilda’s father stared at him for a few seconds, maintaining a defensive attitude. “Do you have something to say?”
“Give me her phone number.”
“Young man, you don’t even have Tilda’s phone number? Shouldn’t that mean my daughter doesn’t want to give it to you? Although I don’t know what your relationship is, my daughter isn’t home. If there’s something important, wait until she comes back.”
Johnny wanted to say more, but Tilda’s father had already closed the door!
He wanted to knock again, but he knew the person inside wouldn’t open it, and Tilda wasn’t there either.
Johnny went downstairs, and the person in charge was still waiting for him nervously.
“Mr. Chow…”
“You can leave now.”
Annoyed, Johnny returned to his car, grabbed a cigarette from the pack, and lit it.
“How dare you, Tilda?! Very impressive!”
She actually went on a blind date!
A blind date!
Johnny pounded his fist on the steering wheel, grinding his teeth.
However, that wasn’t the point. She went to see another man while he could only wait outside her parents’ house waiting! He didn’t even have any other means of contact!
How could this not make him furious?
As he finished smoking his cigarette, Johnny flicked the butt away and started the engine to leave.
He finally understood what Tilda meant! She never intended to have any future with him. There was no trace of affection. He had shamelessly thrown himself at her!
If he still couldn’t see that now, then he must be an utter fool!
Considered someone with status and reputation in Northville City, Johnny felt ridiculous for bringing out his pride only to be trampled upon by someone else.
Johnny stepped on the gas pedal, and the car shot forward like an arrow!
As the car turned, Johnny took one last glance in the rearview mirror-was that Tilda he saw?!
She was carrying two large shopping bags, dressed in newly bought clothes, and laughing happily with a woman who seemed to be her mother.
In a moment of impulsive weakness, Johnny pressed the brake again.
“Mom, I think this pink one looks great on me. What do you think?” Tilda said, her eyes sparkling.
“It looks beautiful! My daughter looks good in anything,” her mother replied, a loving smile on her face.
Tilda was her only daughter. She cherished her daughter very much.
“Okay, then I’ll wear this tonight!” Tilda declared, aware that her fair skin made the pink stand out even more.
Just as Tilda was about to head upstairs with her mother, she suddenly heard someone call her name from behind.
Her body stiffened.
She really didn’t want to turn around…
“I think someone’s calling you,” her mother gently reminded her.
“Yeah, Mom, you go ahead! I have something to discuss with a friend,” Tilda replied, watching her mother carry the shopping upstairs until she disappeared from view. Only then did she turn around.
“Johnny, what exactly do you want?”
