Chapter 45

Book:Billionaire's Contracted & Unloved Wife Published:2025-2-9

Aiden sat down on his chair and watched the girl come in behind Anthony.
“Sit,” he said to them.
He didn’t know why, but something didn’t just feel right with the girl’s complaint.
He was sure he had personally gone through the designs Jess had sent him, and when he did, he didn’t find anything wrong with it.
Or was the girl trying to change it to her own style?
Eva lowered herself in front of Aiden’s table, her short skirt riding up as she did.
Anthony didn’t sit, he simply stood beside Aiden’s table, watching. “Mr. Chaz, Eva said she’d-”
“Let her speak,” Aiden said coldly.
If she wanted to change something in his design, she had to speak to him directly.
Eva smiled apologetically at Anthony. “I’m sorry, Mr. Anthony, I can explain it to him,” She nodded at the manager.
She slowly turned her face to Aiden, a sweet smile on her face. “Mr. Chaz, I noticed some faults in this brooch, and I thought I might suggest a different design for it,” She placed an iPad in front of him and zoomed in on the screen.
Aiden raised a cold brow at her, he looked at the design and frowned.
It was the same design Jess and I designed, and he found nothing wrong with it.
“What is wrong with the design?” He asked her, curious to know her thought process.
It was an embellished heart-shaped Rhinestone brooch, carefully smoothed at the ends.
Eva was feeling too excited to be sitting directly in front of Aiden; she could imagine the pride that’d appear on her mother’s face when she told her about it tonight.
“Ms. Eva?” Aiden called impatiently as he saw Eva looking lost and staring at his face.
“Oh, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” Eva blushed, gently putting her hair behind her ear.
“I don’t have all day, Ms. Eva, go ahead,” Aiden spoke indifferently.
“Alright, the brooch is beautiful, but I believe it’s too plain; given the standard of our company, we can’t just afford to put out something as plain for sale. I was thinking about adding more intricate designs so that instead of it having a smooth finish, it’ll be more eye-catching and more appealing to the eyes,” Eva explained proudly.
Aiden was disappointed with her explanation. “You studied design, am I right?” He asked calmly.
Eva nodded, smiling as she thought she had awed Aiden with her brilliant idea. “Yes, Mr. Aiden,” she replied.
“Then you should have known that each design carried a unique aura. From simple to extravagant, each has a presence it makes in different situations; I’m quite disappointed with your analysis as I believe you might have also gone through our previous productions. If you did, you would have also discovered that those types of designs you’re trying to recreate are already in existence in different forms and shapes,” Aiden was staring right at her as he spoke, wanting her to understand that being an employee in his company didn’t mean everyone had the right to change or produce whatever they felt suited their style better.
Eva was shocked, and embarrassed, she never thought Aiden would sound so mean, she had thought he was a soft-spoken man who treated women the way women should be treated, she had gotten used to being treated softly by men wherever she went, but Aiden had just made her realize that all men weren’t the same.
“And, Ms. Eva, if you have any concerns later, please take it to the head of your department; I believe she is the right person to discuss any matters with me, do you understand?” He asked.
Eva nodded, looking away from his intimidating eyes.
He was a cold man, but it didn’t deter her, she knew just how to make a cold man melt.
No man ever refused a soft, innocent, sexy, and talented woman. And that was going to be her tactic, she would make sure she tried her best to show her talents to him, she knew he was the type of man who wanted an intelligent woman by his side, a Damon he could be proud to show off for her talents and beauty, and she was just the right person.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Chaz, I was wrong and careless. I promise to be more efficient next time. I hope I haven’t annoyed Mr. Chaz?” She asked in a soft voice.
Aiden’s face remained stoic, he was about to dismiss Eva when he suddenly remembered that he could use the situation to his advantage.
“Anthony, ask my Secretary to bring Ms. Eva the latest catalog of our finest jewelry so that next time, she is aware of the available products before making a suggestion,” He said to Anthony.
“Yes, Mr. Chaz,” Anthony replied and quickly left the office.
Eva slowly smiled as Anthony left the office, leaving just her and Aiden in the room. She looked at him and found him busy on his computer, not looking at her.
She was about to feel disappointed but rose within her when she remembered that he had specially asked for his secretary to bring her the latest catalog.
She knew what he was doing; men like him didn’t outrightly flirt with a woman; rather, they showed you how they felt through their actions, like what he just did.
And, this was a very good opportunity for her to find out who his secretary was. When she heard it was a young woman, she felt very angry and jealous, but not anymore, she was soon going to see who the bitch was so she would know how to set her up.
No one was worthy of being by Aiden’s side except her.
Aiden was busy working on his computer when he kept feeling Eva’s eyes running through his body. He knew women, and he knew what she wanted from him.
He blamed Anthony for hiring this kind of person, she was exactly the type of people he had asked him to avoid.
Talented, yes. But their ulterior motive far outweighed their use to the company, so they were better off not being hired.
The girl was trying to contain her nasty nature because she believed that he didn’t know what she wanted from him, but, he had already seen through her. Every other thing she did was just acting.
A knock sounded on the door and Aiden asked Anthony to open the door.
Eva heard the door slowly opening and didn’t bother turning her neck to look at who the girl was, she knew she would still come over to give Aiden the catalog, so she didn’t want to make herself look classless in front of Aiden’s secretary by twisting her neck just to see who was, she sat still, hearing the footstep approaching beside her.
Aiden’s eyes immediately glued on Ariel’s face and he immediately frowned. She looked pale and tired, and he saw her trying her best not to wince from the headache that was killing her.
He balled his fists on the table. Why was she being so stubborn?
He was holding himself back from standing up and grabbing her hand to lead her to the sofa and forcing her to sleep.
He would wait until they were alone.
Ariel entered the office and immediately scented Eva’s strong perfume. She had immediately thought that maybe someone with the same taste in scent might have worn the perfume, but the moment her eyes saw the girl sitting in front of Aiden’s desk, her heart skipped a beat, her palm turned sweaty, her legs automatically slowed down, and her headache blew up like a bomb inside
She could barely make out Aiden’s face from the way the headache was turning her vision blurry but she couldn’t let herself faint now.
So, she moved, and when she reached the side of the other empty chair, she paused and stretched her hand to Aiden.
“Here’s the portfolio, Mr. Chaz,” She said quietly
Eva felt like cold water was splashed harshly above her head. She quickly snapped her head to the side, and her eyes widened to their fullest as she stared at no other person but her stepsister, who they believed was living an unfortunate life with some unknown man somewhere on the outskirts of the country.
“You?!” Eva couldn’t hold herself as she sprang up from the chair and pointed to Ariel.
Ariel slowly shifted away from her, the catalog still in her hands.
Auden frowned, standing and walking over to Ariel to stand beside her.
“You know her?” He asked Eva with a little frown.
This was the first time he’d seen someone react this way while seeing Ariel for the first time, and he was curious to know what relationship they’d had before.
He was curious to see someone from her past who knew things he didn’t know about her. Maybe, Eva might be his key to finding out more about Ariel.
Ariel remained quiet, but her eyes were begging Eva not to say that they were related.
Eva was angry, furious. She was ready to tell Aiden some evil things about Ariel, but Ariel suddenly spoke, making her completely speechless.
Ariel saw the malicious look on Eva’s face, and she knew there was no way she was going to say something good about her, so she decided to throw her off balance. “Yes, Mr. Chaz, we do know each other, we used to be best of friends in high school,” she smiled at Eva.
Eva opened and closed her mouth in shock. How dare she?! Best friend? Over her dead body.
Just wait, Ariel, I’ll get you for this!
