Skylar’s Pov
I’ve been carefully playing my cards about helping Aiden or so he thought. My real motive was to keep tabs on him and see how close he was to uncovering the truth. At first, Aiden didn’t suspect me, but suddenly, something changed and he started questioning everything.
It’s been almost a month now since the death of Shenaya and I thought by now, he would have let her go and let me in but instead, he kept on searching for what wasn’t lost.
The fact that he began to question everything, especially the dead body is scaring the shit out of me. If he discovers that the body was under a spell-and being the only witch in the pack-I’d be the prime suspect. I knew I was running out of time but I couldn’t run away now that I was so close to getting everything I wanted.
I was sitting in the garden, trying to figure out what my next move should be when I suddenly caught Aiden’s scent. I panicked and did a quick spell to make myself invisible.
Just in time, Aiden entered the garden with his aunt-the infamous Aunt Belle. I recognized her from a picture in Lucy’s room. Lucy had told me about her powers, and I knew her presence meant I was in deep trouble.
She being here means Aiden had already figured out something was wrong and they needed the help of a powerful witch to break it. I silently prayed that Belle wouldn’t sense me, and thankfully, she didn’t, even though she paused, as if something felt off.
“Let’s see the dead body,” Aunt Belle said to Aiden and my heart skipped 10 times faster.
He knew. I’m in trouble. I had to do something, or else I would lose my life today.
“Of course,” Aiden led her out of the garden.
“Skylar think- think- Think” I muttered to myself.
I couldn’t think of something because of the panic. I realized I had no choice but to use my last resort. If Aiden found out the truth, he’d come after me, and I couldn’t allow that.
Just as I was rushing to the kitchen to gather the ingredients I needed for my last spell, I caught the saint of Beta Lucas around and I sensed he was looking for me. Aiden probably mindlinked him to look for me.
I am an Alpha female and a witch so I can sense someone from a mile away. It’s a special ability that I have.
I sensed him coming nearer and I increased my pace towards Aiden’s room. This was my only chance and I had to use it. I made a quick spell to cover my scent so he won’t find me. I silently prayed that Aiden’s door wasn’t locked and I felt a small surge of relief when the door opened without resistance.
I quickly get to work by placing a plate on the table, I lit three candles around it. I took a deep breath picked up the knife and sliced a deep cut into my palm, letting my blood drip into the plate. Venom healed it immediately.
Next, I took a picture of Aiden and tied it with mine, dropping it into the blood, I added the strands of Aiden’s hair I found on his comb to the mixture and finally, I whispered the incantation to seal the spell.
As the spell took hold, I placed everything in a small container and pushed it under Aiden’s bed. This way even the most powerful witch in Rome wouldn’t be able to break the spell unless they have the container which will never be possible because I am going to be the Next Luna and I will be sharing this room with Aiden. The love spell was complete, and soon enough, I would own this pack.
“Skylar you are a genius,” I said with a smile praising myself. I knew the spell was only going to work on Smoke and not Aiden but Smoke would take the general control so a win is a win.
Aiden had no idea of what was coming because with this spell, he would be mine, completely under my control and there would be no one left to stand in my way.
I quietly stepped out of Aiden’s room with a sense of satisfaction. Two strong arms suddenly grabbed me from behind, Beta Lucas stood in front of me.
“Throw her in the dungeon,” Lucas ordered with voice cold and commanding voice. I glared at him with pure anger.
“Get your filthy hands off me! Do you know who I am?” I swatted the warriors’ hands away in a rage. I could overpower all three of them with my strength alone, even if I lacked the formal training they all had.
“Skylar, either surrender now or face the wrath of Alpha Aiden,” Lucas’s eyes locked onto mine. He knew that my strength was nothing to take lightly even though they might outmatch me in skill.
“Touch me again and I promise to detach your hands from your bodies.”
The warriors hesitated and their eyes flickered to Lucas to confirm if I was capable of doing that.
“Skylar,” Lucas said with a more measured tone “surrender, and you won’t have any issues with the Alpha.”
I stared him down to consider my options. Should I take them or just play along and surrender? I could take them if I wanted to but that might raise too many questions too quickly. So, I decided to play along. I raised my hands with a smirk. I could see the relief that washed through the warriors as they led me to the dungeon while Lucas trailed behind us.
Once they locked inside, Lucas turned to me with his face masked with disdain.
“The next time you see the sun, it will be your last.” I couldn’t help but laugh.
He had no idea of what was coming.
“Oh, Lucas, the next time I see the sun, I’ll be ruling this pack.” I changed my expression to a threatening one “And I promise you, to be the first to feel my wrath.”
I caught a flicker of fear in his eyes which he quickly masked with disgust. I decided to test the effectiveness of my spell.
‘Smoke, where are you? I’m in trouble,’ I mindlinked Aiden’s wolf, I tried to inject fear and desperation into my voice as I could.
‘Where are you, my love?’ Smoke’s voice responded immediately, the term “my love” sending a sea of butterflies jumping and dancing in my belly.
‘Your Beta threw me in the dungeon,’ I faked a shaky voice. For a moment, there was silence, and I began to worry if the spell had broken. I looked at Lucas who was glaring at me with pure hatred and disgust, and I knew he had no idea what was coming.
Suddenly, the air shifted, and the heavy iron gate of the dungeon shattered with a deafening crash. The warriors and Lucas flinched back in fear as the door crumpled like paper, the force of Smoke’s presence filled the room like water. Smoke’s grip clutched Lucas’s neck and he was lifted off the ground with one hand, his feet dangled as he fought for his life.
Smoke’s glowing eyes locked onto mine.
“Are you okay, Venom?” he asked, his voice a deep, primal growl.
“Yes,” I replied sweetly, hiding the glee in my heart. “Please, let him go.”
Smoke hesitated before releasing him. Lucas collapsed to the ground to grab some air. I walked over to him and knelt to whisper in his ear.
“Remember, you owe me your life now” horror, evident in his face.
I straightened up and hooked my arm through Aiden’s. I gave Lucas a last. The horror in his eyes made me feel great with full authority and together, Smoke and I walked out of the dungeon, leaving Lucas to wrestle with the new reality.
This was just the beginning. Soon, the entire pack would bow to me, and Aiden-my precious, powerful Aiden-would be the key to it all.
