Elijah’s face turned stiff and ugly.
However, Ayan had no intention of letting him off. The smile on his face grew colder, and his voice became indifferent as he said, “Elijah, do you think you can solve the problem by remaining silent? Your silence only confirms my suspicions and increases my doubts about the relationship between you and Preston.”
He squinted his eyes, coldly staring at Elijah.
Elijah remained silent, his expression extremely unpleasant. Perhaps Ayan had seen through his thoughts, or maybe it was because his attempt to sell everything and escape had failed, leading to a sense of anger and dissatisfaction.
Ayan ignored him and asked, “Have you figured out how to answer me? Of course, if you don’t want to speak, that’s fine. After all, I can’t really do anything to you. At most, I’ll just send you back where you belong. Oh, by the way, that person from the Armstrong family member has already figured out how to cooperate with me. Once he makes up his mind, you will be of no use to me.”
After finishing his words, Ayan stood up and walked out of the office without giving Elijah another glance.
He let Sean go in and have a good chat with Elijah, to see if this son could change his father’s mind.
After Sean went in, Kian whispered to Ayan, “Mr. Simpson, do you think Sean and Elijah are trustworthy? I have a feeling that the father and son might plot against you.”
“It doesn’t matter. If they truly intend to conspire against me, it would be somewhat interesting.”
Ayan snorted lightly and glanced at Kian before saying calmly, “If Sean can’t convince Elijah to tell the truth, let him go back to work. As for Elijah, we will keep him in our hands. Give him a day to think it over. If he can’t make up his mind, just send him back!”
There was no point in keeping him. And giving him to Preston was definitely not an option. How could he hand Elijah over to Preston? Previously, he just wanted Elijah to stay by Preston’s side and report some information about Preston to him.
Elijah’s intelligence surpassed anyone else’s.
Even Ayan felt inferior in this aspect.
While dealing with Ayan and gaining Preston’s trust, Elijah might also reveal things about Ayan to Preston. Going back and forth between the two sides would only benefit Elijah.
Ayan couldn’t tolerate someone who had no use for him but only wanted to take advantage of him.
It was getting late, and in his haste to leave, he hadn’t had a chance to tell Camille. He figured that by this time, she had probably already gone to bed.
He didn’t stay long after giving instructions to Kian and left.
Kian accompanied him to the elevator and thought of something else. He asked in a low voice, “Mr. Simpson, should we inform Preston about Elijah selling the company?”
Of course, he was referring to Elijah’s attempt to sell the company.
Ayan smiled and replied, “Not only should we inform Preston but also Daisy!”
Daisy had been trapped and couldn’t leave.
Kian smiled along with him.
Ayan walked into the elevator and returned to Franklin Bay.
He deliberately slowed down his footsteps so as not to wake Camille. He entered the house quietly and went upstairs to the bedroom. There was only a bedside lamp illuminating the room.
Ayan approached the bed and looked down at the woman sleeping on the bed.
Then he quietly left the bedroom and went to the guest room for a shower.
But as soon as he left the bedroom, the woman on the bed opened her eyes.
Camille’s eyes were slightly red, and her expression was heavy.
Last night in the study, she discovered something not only related to the Bill family but also related to herself. However, what she saw were investigation results that she didn’t fully understand. It left her feeling shocked and uneasy.
Camille sighed silently. She made a big decision in her heart.
She wanted to find out the truth.
The thoughts that arose in her mind seemed unbelievable. How could things turn out like this?
Camille pressed her lips together tightly with a grave expression.
Before Ayan came in again, she closed her eyes once more.
She forced herself to fall asleep but couldn’t find any rest. She couldn’t fall asleep no matter what she tried.
Feeling the man beside her lie down and pull her into his embrace, she listened to his steady breathing after a while.
As time passed slowly, she fell into a light sleep.
She didn’t sleep well that night. Therefore, she woke up late the next morning.
The previous night she had already messaged Sienna, telling her that she would take leave today and not go to the office in the morning.
Sienna thought she was tired because of Callum’s affairs. Therefore, she didn’t think much of it.
Camille woke up at half past eight. Ayan had already left home long ago since he had an early biological clock. He didn’t pay much attention when Camille slept in longer than usual.
After Camille got up, she quickly tidied herself up, skipped breakfast, and drove straight to find Grace.
Last night, unable to sleep, she had arranged everything after Ayan fell asleep.
When she met Grace, Grace looked a bit surprised and asked, “What’s wrong? Why are you suddenly going to the hospital? Are you feeling unwell? I went to bed late last night and didn’t see your messages. Are you okay now?”
Grace’s concern and worry made Camille smile faintly as she replied, “I’m fine, really. There’s nothing wrong. I just need to go for a check-up, and I need your help with it.”
Grace didn’t doubt Camille’s words for a second. She trusted her completely.
The two arrived at the hospital, and since Camille had made an appointment in advance, they could go straight to see the doctor.
After both had their blood drawn, Camille asked Grace to grab her a bottle of milk. While Grace was away, Camille filled out the necessary paperwork and exchanged a few words with the doctor before leaving.
Once they were outside the hospital and Camille was holding Grace’s milk, they sat in the car, and the time was approaching half-past ten.
Camille said, “Let me treat you to a meal!”
Grace was taken aback. “Camille, you seem a bit strange today. What happened?”
