To Russia

Book:A Night With Him Published:2025-2-8

It has been a few days since the Blackwells suffered a loss. Max has tried his best to stay strong and be with Nora. They were doing a lot better as days passed by.
Axel and Lily dropped the issue about what happened in Russia. Axel decided to let her be for a while before bringing it up again. The kids were doing great too.
“There you go. All done.” Lily said as she was done styling Kendra’s hair. It was the weekend and they had nothing to do, Axel wasn’t at home.
“Thank you, mummy.” Kendra said as she stood up.
The door to her room opened and Kender walked in.
“Mum, since it’s the weekend. Why don’t we go out?” Kender suggested and Lily shrugged.
“No problem.”
Lily and the kids had fun all day, they visited random places and were heading home when it was getting dark.
As Lily drove, her phone rang for the umpteenth time and she ignored it again.
“Is there a reason you don’t want to answer it? It has been ringing all day.” Kendra said.
“Just ignore it.” Lily replied and her daughter shrugged.
They got home and met Axel, he was back already. It was dinner time and they all sat in the dining room and ate peacefully.
Again, Lily’s phone rang. She ignored the call and Axel looked at her. He was about to look away when the phone rang again.
“Are you not going to answer that?” He asked and she shook her head in response as she glanced at the caller.
“No, it’s not important.” She replied.
“Really? Because I think it is. The same person has been calling all day.” Kender said but she ignored him. Her eyes were fixed on her meal.
“Lily.” Axel called but she ignored him. The phone stopped ringing but rang immediately again, Axel was about to pick it up but she hurriedly grabbed it and stood up.
“Lily.” Axel called.
“For fuck sake Axel, shut up!” She snapped at him and he stared at her surprised. Her kids did too.
She breathed heavily as her hands started to tremble. Her heart was racing too.
She ran out of the dining room without looking at any of them, she rushed up the stairs, she got into her room, and slammed the door.
She stared at the caller and paced around, she bit her nails as she thought of what to do. Should she answer it or not? What could be wrong? Was Anastasia making him call her? As she thought about it, memories of what happened in Russia came flooding in.

Nadia got out of the car with the men and ran towards the building. She was leading the men with her. They were at the base El Diablo’s men were attacking.
The base was huge, it was more like a factory, and it had different buildings.
They all rushed in and shot every one of El Diablo’s men they came across. Some of her men got shot too.
El Diablo’s men were too much and in minutes, Nadia was left with only a few men.
“We have to retreat ma’am.” One of the men said as they took cover from the men firing shots at them.
Nadia ignored the man. She knew El Diablo would be somewhere close by, his men were so many and he only needed so many men if he was around.
“Ma’am.” One of her men yelled and she turned to him.
“I am not leaving, you can leave if you want.” She replied as she loaded her gun.
“We all have to leave. We have to follow the code ma’am. There is nothing we can do.” He yelled but she ignored him. She wasn’t listening to him.
“There are too many of them. We have to retreat.” He said again. Nadia ignored him and walked out of where she was hiding, she fired back at El Diablo’s men. She was too curious to retreat. She wanted to know who El Diablo really was.

PRESENT
Lily snapped out of her thoughts as the phone rang again. She decided to pick up the call.
‘What is the worst that can happen?’ She thought. He could be calling for something else. Not something serious.
She slowly picked up the call and placed the phone on her ear.
“Ma’am.” She heard him call. It was her personal bodyguard. The only man she trusted so much while she was still in Russia.
She could hear gunshots from the background and it sounded like he was in pain.
“What is going on?” Lily asked.
“We… we need your help. El Diablo… El… ”
“What? What are you saying? I can barely hear you.”
“El… El Diablo. He is here, he is going crazy. He…”The call disconnected as she heard a gunshot and her eyes widened.
“Fuck.” She cursed and tried calling him back but it wasn’t connecting. She was about to dial the number again when the door to her room opened and Axel walked in.
She froze and took a few steps back.
“I would like to know what is going on.” He said sternly. He waited for her response but she wasn’t saying anything. He could see she looked scared, he was so sure she was hiding something.
Lily’s heart raced as she thought of what to say, she was scared to lie to him but she had no idea what was going on too.
She could only think of one thing and it was a question.
“You do business with El Diablo right? Have you ever met him?” Lily asked and Axel furrowed his brows.
“No one knows who he is. He is like a ghost.” He replied and Lily gulped.
“I need your help, Axel.” She suddenly said and Axel raised his brows.
“What’s wrong?” He asked.
“Something is wrong in Russia and I have to be there. You have to help me and I promise to tell you what happened.” She said. Axel took a few steps closer to her.
“Are you saying we… ”
“Yes, we are going to Russia.”
