Nadia sat on Axel’s car with a little bowl of ice cream in her hands. Axel was in the car with the kids, they parked at a park.
They decided to stay there for a while just to be safe before they head home.
Nadia glanced at them through the glass, she saw Axel at the back seat feeding Kendra her ice cream.
Nadia shook her head and looked away.
“He has gone soft.” She muttered as she took a scoop of her ice cream.
The car door opened and Axel got out, he walked to the front of the car and sat next to Nadia.
None of them said a word to each other but Axel couldn’t look away from her.
“She doesn’t need to be fed, she can do things herself.” Nadia said without turning to him and Axel raised his brows.
“Huh? Oh, you mean Kendra.” He said and Nadia nodded in response.
“I just do whatever she wants. She likes being fed.”
“She is eleven years old, not a kid.” She said and Axel chuckled.
“You changed so much.” He muttered, and she finally turned to him.
“Really? I didn’t notice.” She replied sarcastically before looking away from him again.
“I heard what you did to the McCalls. Who is next?” Axel asked and she shrugged in response.
“Your stepmother, maybe.”
“Nice.” Axel replied.
“Did the Russians make you this way?”
“Hey, can the kids skip school tomorrow?” Nadia asked instead, ignoring his question.
“Skip school? Why?” Axel asked back.
“Well, I was thinking they could come spend the day with me.” She replied.
“Hmm.” Axel grained and she turned to him.
“What? What do you have to say?”
“Will you be careful with them?” He asked and Nadia chuckled.
“You think I would hurt my kids?”
“No, I just think you would do something that could hurt them. You kind of dangerous.” Axel replied and she chuckled again.
“Woah, I am flattered.” She rolled her eyes.
“Of course, they can spend the day with you, only if they agree to. I can’t force them.”
“Then ask them.” She said and Axel nodded.
“Kendra, Kender.” Axel called and they both got out of the car.
“Yes, Daddy?” Kendra called as they got to them.
“Would you guys like to spend the day with Nadia tomorrow? You won’t be going to school.”
The kids looked at Nadia and she smiled at them.
“It would be fun.” Axel added, trying his best to convince them.
“Would there be guns?” Kendra asked.
“If necessary, yes.” She replied and Axel groaned.
“Really? I am trying to help you here.”
“What? I am being honest.” She shrugged in response.
“Okay, we would spend the day with her.” Kender said and licked his fingers.
“Great, you guys can drop me off at my place, you will know my address that way.” She replied and got off the car. Axel did too.
“Is it safe to get back on the road now?” Kendra asked worriedly.
“Yes, baby. It is.” Axel replied softly.
“No, it’s not. We are just taking our chances.” Nadia replied and Axel groaned.
“You really have to stop doing that.”
“I’m scared, Daddy.”
“You have nothing to be scared of.”
“You should have a lot to be scared of, your parents are gangsters.”
“Stop it, Lily.” Axel said and Kender laughed.
“You are cool.” He told Nadia before getting into the car.
“Let’s go.” Axel said to his daughter and held her hand.
“I will drive.” Nadia announced.
“No.” They chorused in response and she rolled her eyes.
After a while, they dropped her off at her mansion and Axel got the address. He headed back home with the kids and in minutes, they were home.
The kids were exhausted because they had a long day. They slept immediately after having dinner.
Axel was exhausted too, he decided not to work overnight but sleep. Before he fell asleep, he couldn’t stop thinking about Nadia and how she had changed so much.
The Russians she was with must have been really powerful ones to make her change so much. Before he fell asleep, he was curious about just one thing.
Who changed Lily?
~
A FEW YEARS BACK
Lily stared at her arm and hissed in pain, it was where the woman shot her at. She noticed the woman walking into the training room and she hurriedly stood upright.
She ignored the pain she was feeling, showing she was in pain would only cause her so much pain.
The woman walked fully into the room and walked to the table in the room, on it was a gun with the bullets next to it.
“Come here.” She ordered and Lily walked to her. She stood opposite the table and watched her.
“Watch.” The woman ordered and picked up the empty gun and the bullets, in seconds, she loaded it and pointed it at Lily.
She fought the urge to flinch and stood firmly.
“Did you see what I did?”
“Yes ma’am.” Lily replied. The woman nodded and withdrew the bullets from the gun and scattered them all over the table.
“Great, now I want you to do the same in three seconds.”

THE NEXT DAY
MORNING
Nadia sat in the living room as she waited for her kids, she was ready to meet them and they would arrive anytime soon.
The wait was over when she heard Axel’s car drive in. A minute later, the door opened revealing them.
Nadia stood up and stared at them. The kids looked around the house while Axel walked closer to Nadia. He was holding a bag.
“Your house looks nice.” Kendra complimented.
“Thank you.” Nadia replied with a smile. Kender just looked at her without saying anything.
“Okay, so I have to go now.” Axel said.
“Just leave already.” Nadia replied and he rolled his eyes at her.
He turned to the kids and smiled at them.
“I will be back to pick you guys up when I leave the company, okay?”
“Okay.” They chorused and he nodded before turning to Nadia again. She gave him a questioning look.
“Here.” He said and stretched the bag to her, she slowly took it from him.
“And what am I supposed to do with this?” She questioned.
“There are things they might need. Kendra gets scared easily so her favourite teddy is in there.”
Nadia chuckled and Axel gave her a look.
“She is eleven.”
Axel shook his head and continued what he was saying.
“Kender doesn’t eat everything, he is picky with his snacks so I have his favourite snacks there. Don’t do dangerous things with them, don’t curse in front of them and lastly, don’t say bad things to them.” Axel explained and Nadia nodded.
Axel sighed and turned to his kids, he hugged them and smiled at them before walking out.
Nadia dropped the bag on the couch and turned to the kids.
“Now, let’s ignore everything Daddy said, and let’s have fun.”
