“What is going on?” Kendra asked as Kender helped her with her seatbelt after using his.
“Nothing.” Axel replied as he took a turn, the car trailing them also took the same turn.
“What? Don’t lie to them. We are getting trailed by dangerous men who want to kill me and your father.” Nadia replied and Kendra screamed.
“Why the hell did you do that?” Axel asked with a glare.
“What? It’s better to let them know the truth.”
“No, it’s better to lie so they won’t panic. It’s called parenting.”
“Well, good for you, father of the year.” She scoffed and Axel took another turn.
“Are you guys seriously arguing right now?” Kender asked.
“He started it.” Nadia replied and relaxed in her seat.
“Why are you so calm about this?” Axel asked.
“Because it’s normal.” She replied and he shook his head.
He took a turn to a lone street, the men in the car chasing them suddenly started to shoot at them and the kids screamed.
“Shit, get down.” Nadia said to her kids and sat up.
“Oh, so now you are worried.” Axel scoffed.
She looked at the mirror and saw the men shooting poking their heads out.
“Take the next turn and drive into a crowded street.” Nadia said to Axel as she pulled out a gun.
“What? Are you crazy? People would get hurt.” Axel replied and she looked at him with a confused look.
“Really? You care about strangers too now?” She asked and he ignored her. The car suddenly hit them and the kids screamed.
“What the fuck, Axel? Go faster.” Nadia yelled at him.
“I am trying.” He replied and she rolled her eyes at him.
“Can both of you stop arguing for a minute?” Kender asked as he held his sister. Nadia looked at him and smiled before looking away.
The cars trailing them doubled and they shot at them again.
They caught up with them which made Axel’s car in between them.
Kendra screamed in fear as the cars hit them.
They were about to shoot at Nadia when she hurriedly shot at the car next to her. The bullet hit the driver’s neck and he lost control of the car and they crashed.
The other car at Axel’s side kept hitting them but he managed to go faster.
“You know what? I will drive.” Nadia said.
“What?”
“They are catching up because you are the one driving. Let me drive, let’s switch places.”
“You want to switch seats without stopping the car? You both will kill us.” Kender said but they ignored him.
“I will go lower.” Nadia said and he nodded in response.
They both switched seats with Nadia going lower, the car lost balance for a few seconds which terrified the kids a lot.
They were about to crash but Nadia got hold of the steering wheel and balanced the car again.
“Okay, you guys might want to hold on to something.”
“No, no. There are kids in the car, you have to drive… ” Axel trailed off as she hit the accelerator and the car went faster.
The kids screamed in fear while Axel hurriedly used his seat belt.
Nadia went really fast and made sure she was far from them. They already lost them and Axel sighed in relief, thinking Nadia was going to take the next turn and they would be back on the street.
Out of the blue, she suddenly slowed down and turned the car around.
“What? What are you doing? We lost them already.”
“I know.” She replied as she got the car ready. She was waiting to see the car trailing them.
“So why aren’t we going? Why are you waiting for them?” Axel raised his voice.
“They would just keep coming back if they get away and besides, I haven’t had fun yet.” She replied without taking her eyes off the road.
“Fun? Are you fucking serious? Our kids are in the car, don’t do something dumb and end up getting us killed.” Axel yelled at her but she ignored him.
“Nadia.” Kendra cried but she ignored them.
The car suddenly showed up and Nadia smirked and drove really fast towards it. The kids screamed in fear and Axel’s eyes widened in shock.
“Lily! Lily, what the hell are you doing? We are going to crash.” Axel yelled but she ignored him.
She went faster again, she was ready to hit the car. She got closer to the car and was about to hit the car when she hit the brakes, she turned the car, picked up her gun and shot the tyre and the driver. The car lost balance and crashed.
She stopped the car and exhaled heavily.
Axel stared at her as he breathed heavily, he was terrified of her. He couldn’t believe it was the same naive lady he was with years ago.
Nadia turned to him and gave him a look.
“What? No one died.” She said and looked back at her kids, they were staring at her too. They all stared.
“Well, you guys are welcome.” She said with a smile.
“So, who wants ice cream? I want ice cream.” She said with a smile and the kids slowly nodded.
“Great, I will drive.” She said and was about to ignite the car but Axel glared at her.
“I will drive.” He replied and she turned to the kids.
“Who should drive? Nadia or Daddy?”
“Daddy.” The kids chorused and she scoffed.
“Father of the year.”
