Book:A Night With Him Published:2025-2-8

TWO MONTHS LATER
Lily and Nora laughed happily as they talked and picked out Kendra and Kender’s outfits for their birthday. It had been two months since everything was going smoothly and Lily could confidently say she was having the best life.
She got used to the wealthy lifestyle and managed it all well. Everything has just been perfect.
“Hey, what about this? I think this will look cute on him.” Nora said as she picked a cute shirt for Kender.
“Hmm, I think so too.” Lily replied with a smile.
After they were done with their shopping, they headed back to Axel’s mansion.
They arrived at the mansion and walked out of the car, they walked into the house and Lily giggled happily as Kendra ran towards her with her tiny feet.
They were walking already, they would be a year in a day. Lily was so happy.
“Hey, that’s my baby.” Lily giggled as she picked her up and spun her around. Nora smiled at her and she smiled back.
“Mama.” She said to Lily and she smiled happily. They were already saying a few words too.
“Hey, Kendra. Where is your brother?” Nora asked as she dropped the bags on the chair. They left them with the maids, not the first time doing so. The maids babysit them once in a while.
Kendra pointed towards the dining and Nora walked towards it with Lily trailing behind her.
They got to the dining room and met him running around as a maid chased after him. He kept laughing as he ran. He noticed Lily’s presence and he giggled and ran to her.
He hugged her legs happily and Lily smiled at him. Nora carried him and he cupped her cheeks.
“Welcome ma’am.” The maid greeted and bowed.
“Thanks for watching them.” Lily said to the maid and she bowed again before walking away.
“You don’t need to thank her. It’s her job.” Nora said and Lily shrugged.
Nora’s phone suddenly beeped and her face beamed as she saw who the text was from.
“Let me guess. Dexter?” Lily asked and she nodded.
“Last night, we met and we fu… ”
“Don’t say that word in front of my kids.” Lily hurriedly cut her off and she chuckled.
Lily’s phone beeped this time and she looked at it, it was a text from Mr. Blackwell.
He was asking about how big she wanted the kids’ birthday to be. Lily chuckled and replied to him, she knew he wouldn’t listen if she informed him she didn’t want a huge party.
He takes every opportunity to show off his grandkids.
“I have to go.” Nora said.
“Of course.” Lily replied.
They both walked to the living room and she dropped Kender on the couch before walking out of the house.
Kender got off the chair immediately and started to run around. Lily groaned and Kendra also tried to get off Lily’s arms.
She dropped her and she started to run around too.
Lily smiled happily, she was a proud mother.
She was about to call her husband when the door opened revealing him, the children screamed happily as they saw him and rushed to him.
Axel carried them both and smiled at him.
“I know, I know. You missed me.” Axel said proudly as his kids said words he couldn’t understand.
Lily stared at them with a wide smile on her face. She was the happiest person on earth.
~
“Happy Birthday!” Everyone in the room yelled happily.
The twins also clapped their hands happily and everyone laughed.
“It’s just a kids’ birthday party. Why the hell is the half of New York City here?” Lily whispered to Axel as they smiled at the reporters.
“Don’t forget. It’s the Blackwells kids.” He replied.
Mr. Blackwell suddenly carried Kender and ruffled his hair.
“No doubt he is his favourite.” Nora said to Max and he chuckled.
After taking lots of pictures, the after party started and everyone did random things.
Lily was with Nora while the kids were with Axel.
“Hey, why isn’t Susan here today?” Lily asked Nora.
“Oh, the McCalls are back.” Nora replied and Lily’s heart skipped a beat.
“Huh?” She looked at Nora.
“The McCalls are back. They got back a week ago.” Nora said and Lily’s eyes widened in shock.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because I just found out hours ago from Max.” Nora replied and Lily looked in the direction Axel and Max were with the kids.
“Axel knew?”
“As long as Max is aware. Of course, Axel knows.”
“Why didn’t he tell me anything?” Lily muttered to herself. She was about to start getting worried again but she shook her head and put on a smile.
“We will talk about it later. Today is all about Kendra and Kender. Let’s not ruin it.” Lily said with a smile and Nora nodded.
“Yeah, let’s party.” Nora cheered and pulled her towards the others.
After a few more hours, the party came to an end.
Axel and Lily were inside the car with the kids and they were heading back to the mansion. Their kids were asleep already. As the car moved, Lily noticed something odd about Axel.
He kept checking his phone and had a cold expression on.
“Axel.” Lily called and he turned to her with a cold expression. Her heart skipped a beat as she saw the look on his face. She hasn’t seen him stare at her like that in a long time.
He had that look he always had on when they first got married.
“Is something wrong?” Lily asked and he shook his head in response. Before she could ask another question, he looked away from her and paid attention to his phone again.
Lily exhaled heavily and decided to shrug off the thought, that nothing might be wrong. She might be overthinking things.
Maybe something just went wrong at work and he was bothered about it.
The drive home was fast but it felt long to Lily.
No one said anything to each other as they got out of the car and carried their kids in.
They got into the kids’ room and slowly laid them on the bed.
Lily sighed in relief and took a seat next to them.
“I need to change their outfits… ”
“Lily, we need to talk.” Axel cut her off and she looked up at him.
“Oh, okay.” She replied and stood up.
“Should we go outside or… ”
“Here, here is fine.” He cut her off again and she nodded.
Her heart raced as she anticipated what he was about to say, she just knew it wasn’t something good. He had no expression on, he was just like the former Axel.
“Lily, we are getting a divorce. A real divorce this time. Starting from now, your last name isn’t Blackwell anymore and you have until morning to leave my house.”
