“Have we met before?” Lily asked and Dexter chuckled.
“I don’t think so.” He replied and she shrugged, she looked away from him immediately and turned to Axel. She wasn’t interested in him anyway.
Before Lily could speak, Axel gave Kender to Max and he carried him and Kendra together. Axel pulled Lily with him to a corner and she jerked her hand away from him.
“I need you to calm down okay? Nothing can go wrong, I have everything under control.” He told her.
“A year ago, at the night of the last ball. I remember what happened.” She said and Axel raised his brows.
“What?”
“I was knocked out by a man, and I can remember I wasn’t taken to this hotel. The pictures and everything were fake, I didn’t sleep with the man. It was all Mrs. McCall and Malia.” Lily explained to Axel and he nodded.
He tried to calm her down by slowly placing his hands on her shoulder.
“It’s okay. After the ball, I will handle it.” Axel assured her and she sighed before nodding.
“You trust me right?” He asked. She stared at him for a few seconds before nodding again. Axel could see she was still worried, he slowly raised his hand to her hair and creased it.
“Everything is going to be okay, Lily.” He assured her again. She suddenly hugged him and burst into tears, she wrapped her arms around him tightly and placed her head on his chest.
“I am so scared. I don’t want anything to happen to me again.” She cried softly and Axel wrapped his arms around her too.
He looked around and noticed a few people were staring at them. He creased her back and sighed.
He missed her so much, he wished they were alone so he could hold her for a very long time and tell her how much he missed her.
“It’s okay. Nothing will go wrong as long as I am here. Please don’t cry, people are staring.” Axel whispered and she sniffed, she pulled away from the hug and wiped her tears.
“Let’s just enjoy the party. Don’t think about Mrs. McCall or anyone. Just enjoy the party.”
She nodded in response and slowly smiled, Axel smiled back at her and pulled her cheeks. She chuckled and held his hand.
“That’s my girl.” He muttered and walked back towards his family with her.

The ball came to an end eventually and surprisingly, nothing happened. It went peacefully, the Robbins and Blackwells didn’t have a fight, and Mrs. McCall and Malia left the party early too.
Lily was glad but was still a little bit worried. They were still in the ballroom but it was just them. All the guests left already.
“Gather around please.” Mr. Blackwell said out loud as he held a glass of wine. They all moved closer to him and Susan stood next to him.
Lily walked closer to them with Axel holding her hand while Max and Nora carried their children.
“Lily.” Mr. Blackwell called and looked at her with a smile.
“I know we have treated you badly in the past. We haven’t been fair to you. I and my family are apologising to you, we know no amount of apology can make up for what you have gone through but we promise to give you and your kids the best life. Right Susan?” Mr. Blackwell asked and glanced at her.
“Of course.” She replied with a fake wide smile.
“We are sorry.” Nora also said and Lily smiled at them a little. Due to how soft she was, she decided to let it all go. As long as she and her kids are safe and comfortable.
Axel nudged her shoulder and she smiled at him.
“So, cheers to a new happy family.”
“Cheers.” They chorused and Lily smiled happily.

WEEKS LATER
It’s been weeks since the first ball of the season, it’s been weeks since Lily became a Blackwell again, and it has also been weeks since everything has been going well for everyone.
Lily was now loved and respected by everyone who mocked her in the past, her kids were still the talk of the city.
Axel on the other hand keeps apologising to her every day and always promises to be the best husband to her. Nora has also been a great friend, she shows up almost all the time to check up on Lily and her kids. She buys them a lot of things too.
Max has also been there for her, they keep treating her like a queen.
Ever since the ball, they haven’t heard from the McCalls nor have they seen them. According to what they heard, they travelled out of the city due to the constant troubles from the reporters and people in the society.
Everything was perfect for Lily. However, she thinks about Gavin sometimes and misses him so much. She still feels guilty and sad for leaving him after helping her.
She sometimes as Axel about him, she just wanted to know how he was able to let her go without a fight. Anytime she asks Axel, he gets mad at her and she stops bringing him up.
He has also been a great father to his children, no matter how busy he was, he shows up and spends some time with them.
In short, everything was perfect!
“What are you thinking about?” Lily heard Axel ask and she looked up at him.
They were both in the dining room having dinner with their kids.
“Nothing. Just thinking about how things are.” She replied and fed Kender. Axel smiled and looked at his daughter, she kept stretching to the table and putting her hands in their mean.
He smiled at her as she licked her fingers.
“What do you think? Is this our happy ending?” He asked and Lily shrugged with a smile.
“It could be, everything seems great now. The McCalls are gone, we are both happy, and the Robbins aren’t causing any more drama too. Is there anything else?” Lily asked back and Axel chuckled.
“Of course. This is our happy ending.” He replied with a smile and Lily smiled back happily.
