Lily was seated in the dining room and picking on her food. She didn’t wake up with so much energy, she felt down and sad.
She cried herself to sleep last night which made her look a little pale.
She heard footsteps and she looked up to see Axel, she looked away from him immediately and fixed her eyes on her meal.
“Lily.” He called and she ignored him.
“Lily.” He called again and she looked up at him again, she noticed he was dressed in a tuxedo which meant he was ready for work.
“Do you want to come with me?” He asked. Lily was about to shake her head in response but paused. She was bored at home anyway and if she was alone, she would have a lot to think about.
She nodded in response and he also nodded.
“I will change my… ”
“You don’t need to. You look good like this.” Axel cut her off and she stared at her outfit. She was dressed in a simple gown.
“Okay.” She muttered and stood up, Axel walked out of the dining room ahead of her and she trailed behind him.
They got out of the house and he entered his car, and she also did. He ignited the car and drove out of the mansion.
The drive was silent, Axel kept glancing at Lily and all she did was look out the window.
Minutes later, they arrived at Axel’s company. He parked his car in the parking lot and they both walked out of the car.
Lily walked closer to Axel as she stared at the building.
“Is this yours?” She asked and he nodded in response.
“It’s so huge.” She said and Axel held her hand, she looked at him and he smirked at her.
“Come on.” He muttered and pulled her with him. They entered the building and Axel’s employees bowed at them as they walked past them.
Lily smiled at them, she also waved at them which made Axel chuckle.
“What?” Lily asked him.
“Nothing.” Axel replied as they got to the front of the elevator. They both entered and Axel pressed the button to the last floor.
Lily looked around and hummed a rhyme, Axel chuckled again and she turned to him.
“What is it?” She asked and he shook his head in response.
“Why are you chuckling?” She asked and he turned to her fully.
“Are you still mad at me?” He asked and she nodded.
“Well, can I explain now?” Axel asked as the elevator door opened. They both walked out of it.
“Yes, you can.” She replied.
“Okay. Lydia showed up unannounced, I wasn’t expecting her at all. She was about to leave when you walked in, I told her to leave.”
“She kissed you.” Lily said as Axel pushed a door open, they both walked into his office and Lily looked around the room.
“She just wanted to get you upset.” Axel replied and Lily sighed.
She couldn’t help but feel insecure, Lydia looked so much better than her, she had everything.
“Should I be worried?” Lily asked.
“No, you have nothing to worry about. Lydia is no one.” He replied and she smiled at him. Seeing her smile, Axel felt relieved.
“So, I am at your company today. I will get to see how you work.” She giggled and Axel watched her as she looked around. She pulled away from him and walked around.
Axel watched her as she did, Lily would never cease to amaze him. Minutes ago, she looked like she didn’t want to have anything to do with him anymore, she looked so sad too but here she was, smiling and giggling.
“Your office is so huge.”
“Yeah.” Axel replied and she walked back to him with a smile. They both heard a knock on the door and they turned to it.
“Come in.” Axel said and the door opened revealing his secretary, she walked in fully and bowed at him.
“Good morning sir, I want to inform you that you have a very important meeting in the next ten minutes. The president too will be joining in on a call.” The lady said and Axel nodded. She bowed again then walked out of the office.
“You are friends with the president?” Lily asked Axel.
“Hmm, I wouldn’t use the word friends. We are more like business partners.” He replied and Lily chuckled.
“What business do you have with the president?”
“Just a regular one.” Axel replied and wrapped his arms around her waist, before Lily could say anything, he pulled her into a hug.
“What is this for?” Lily asked as Axel buried his face in her neck.
“I just want to hug my wife.” He replied and Lily giggled and pulled away from the hug.
“You have a meeting.”
“It’s still in ten minutes.” He replied and pulled her closer again. Lily laughed and tried to pull away but he held her firmly.
“Let go of me, Axel.” She laughed.
“You have less than ten minutes already. Aren’t you supposed to be preparing?” She asked.
“I know.” He replied and placed his chin on her head.
“It might take a while, probably up to an hour. Get comfortable and if you need anything, you can use the landline and your request will be granted.” Axel explained and she nodded in response.
“I have to go now, I will see you in an hour.”
“Okay.” She replied with a smile and Axel kissed her forehead before walking out of his office.
Lily sighed in relief and walked to his table, she took a seat and made herself comfortable.
An hour passed and Lily was starting to get bored and tired, she decided to take a walk around.
She walked out of Axel’s office and looked around the hallway. She started to walk down and look around as she did.
She got to a door and wanted to ignore it but she suddenly got curious to see what was behind the door.
She burst into the room and she froze when she saw Axel and a lot of men around a table.
“Get out, now.” Axel ordered.
“I… I’m so sorry.” She whispered in fear and Axel looked at her confused.
“Not you, never you.”
“Leave.” He said turning to the men in the room, as all the men exited the meeting, he realised he was still on a call with the president.
“I will call you back later. My wife obviously wants to talk with me.” He said and ended the call. He turned to Lily and grinned at her.
“Now, come over here.”
