Nora walked into the dining room dragging her feet, she paused when she saw Lily holding a cup of coffee and smiling as she gulped it.
“Lily.” Nora called and she looked up at her with a smile.
“Oh, Good morning Nora.” She greeted her with a wide smile.
“Morning, Lily.” Nora replied and she still kept smiling.
“What’s with the wide smile?” Nora asked as she poured herself a cup of coffee.
“Nothing, I am just so happy.” She replied and Nora chuckled. She decided not to ask any further questions, she knew how Lily could be. She is a sweet and happy person.
“So, what should we do today?” Nora asked and took a seat next to her.
“Anything. And also, I will be going back home today.” She said and Nora paused.
“Why? Why so soon? Did I do something wrong? Is it about yesterday? I promise not to call Malia again, I… ”
“No, easy Nora.” Lily chuckled.
“It’s not about yesterday, it has nothing to do with it. I just want to go back home today.” She replied and Nora sighed.
“It’s fine then. Do you want to leave now?”
“Of course not. I will spend the day with you, I will leave later in the day.” Lily replied and she smiled.
“Okay, then.”
Lily and Nora spent the rest of the day together, it was more fun with it being just both of them. Nora took Lily to different places in the city and taught her a few things she needed to know about living a luxurious life.
It was getting late already by the time they were done. Nora and Lily returned home to get Lily’s things before they headed to Axel’s mansion.
They got her things into the car and Nora drove.
“You still haven’t told me why you changed your mind out of the blue.” Nora said as she drove and Lily shrugged with a smile.
“Nothing. I just feel like going back. I don’t think a break was a good idea.”
“Have you settled your issues with Axel?”
“I think so.”‘She replied with a wide smile. Nora chuckled and shook her head at her.
After a few more minutes on the road, they arrived at Axel’s mansion. As they walked out of the car, Lily noticed an unfamiliar car parked next to Axel’s car. It wasn’t Max’s car either.
“Whose car is that?” Lily asked, pointing at it and Nora also turned to look at it. She recognised the car immediately and she let out a nervous chuckle.
“It might be for one of Axel’s business partners.” Nora lied and Lily shrugged.
“Okay.” She replied and walked towards the house before Nora could stop her.
“Lily, wait.” Nora called and rushed after her but it was too late. Lily walked into the house and froze at the sight in front of her. She felt her knees become weak and her heart shattering.
Her husband was seated next to his ex-fiance and they were so close. They were just inches apart.
“Shit.” Nora muttered as she got into the living room.
“Lily.” Axel called and stood up. Lydia also stood up with a smile on her face.
“I guess I will be leaving now. It was nice talking to you Axel, see you around.” Lydia said and kissed Axel’s cheek, she walked to the entrance where Lily and Nora were still standing and let out a smile.
“Mrs. Blackwell, Nora.” She said and walked out of the house.
Lily suddenly turned away from Axel and then turned to Nora.
“Can we please go back?” Lily asked and Nora was confused about the response to give. Axel was giving her a stern look and Lily had tears in her eyes, she would cry at any moment.
“Bye.” Nora said and rushed out of the house. Lily sighed and blinked back the tears in her eyes, she felt so shattered again.
Again, everything was a lie. She keeps believing Axel despite all he tells her is a lie.
She really is gullible and dumb.
She turned away from the entrance and avoided Axel’s looks, she hurried her steps towards the stairs.
She was about to take a step up the stairs when Axel caught up with her and held her hand.
“Lily.” He called and she tried to free herself from his grip. Axel noticed she was in tears already, he decided to let go of her and he did.
Without turning to look back at him, Lily ran up the stairs in tears. She got into her room and rushed to her bed, she laid on it and cried.
She hated the way she was gullible, Axel kept taking advantage of it.
She didn’t want an explanation from him, she needed no one to explain what she just saw. Thinking about it, she realised Nora lied to her too.
She was aware the car belonged to Lydia, and that was why she was acting weird.
Lily felt so exhausted, she was tired of everything. The drama around her, the guilt and burden she had to live with, she was tired of it all.
She just wanted it all to end. She couldn’t wait till it was the end of the year, she would finally leave and be free.
Instead of things getting better for her, it kept getting worse. Ever since she met Axel, life has been so hard.
She has been embarrassed a lot. Not only by Axel, but his family too. She has been heartbroken multiple times, she has also been stabbed and almost lost her life. It was all too much.
She suddenly heard her phone rang and she glanced at the caller, it was Nora.
Lily ended the call and switched off her phone.
Talking to anyone won’t help, they were all the same. They were all deceiving her. They all don’t care about her.
She closed her eyes and exhaled heavily. The pain in her heart was too much.
What a miserable life she has!
