“Hurry.” Lily heard a distant voice say as she kept seeing different faint lights. Her eyes kept opening and closing on their own. She couldn’t control them, she couldn’t control any part of her body. She felt numb.
“She needs immediate surgery.” Another voice said and she saw blurry faces of people dressed in a blue dress.
“Lily.” She heard another voice call her name, she couldn’t recognize whose voice it was, she wasn’t processing anything at the moment.
“It is okay, you will be fine.” Another voice said as her eyes closed and she passed out.

“It’s morning already, she isn’t showing any signs of waking up.” Nora whispered to Max as she watched Lily from where they were seated, Max was also staring and he shrugged in response to Nora’s question.
“We just have to stay positive.” He replied, keeping his voice low too.
Nora turned to Max and poked him, he turned to her and gave her a questioning look.
“He hasn’t looked away from her since she was brought into the ward.” Nora whispered as she glanced at Axel who was seated on a chair next to Lily on the bed.
“She is his wife, it’s normal.” Max replied and Nora rolled her eyes.
“Ugh, come on. That doesn’t mean anything, I have watched Axel ignore his father when he was sick and hospitalized. He only visited him once and that was because he was forced to.” Nora replied as she glanced back and forth between Axel and Max.
“So what are you saying?” Max asked and Nora bit her lip like she was thinking about something. Max looked down at her lips and admired how they looked. They were so close to each other because they were having their conversation in whispers.
“I think… ” Nora said and Max looked up at her.
“I think he likes her. He likes Lily.” She said and Max let out a nervous chuckle.
“You think?” He asked and Nora nodded in response. Max shrugged and turned to look at Axel and Lily, he had no response to what Nora said.
“Have you guys found out who did this to her?” Nora asked and Max shook his head in response.
“No, we are waiting for her to wake up. The security footage of what happened was erased so we have no idea of what happened. It was a maid that found her and then called Axel and 911.” Max explained and Nora nodded.
It was Max who also informed her and she rushed down to the hospital.
They all suddenly heard soft groans coming from Lily, Max and Nora stood up and rushed towards her and Axel. They both stood next to Axel and watched Lily as she slowly opened her eyes.
She looked around and closed her eyes back.
“Lily?” Nora called and she opened her eyes again.
“Nora.” She called but it came out as a whisper, Nora smiled and sighed in relief. Lily saw Max standing next to her, he smiled at her and she tried to smile back but she couldn’t.
She saw Axel next to Max, he locked eyes with her and it lasted for a few seconds before she broke the stare and looked away.
“How are you feeling?” Nora asked.
“I… I don’t know.” She whispered in response and closed her eyes, she recalled what happened and she opened her eyes again.
“Do you remember what happened?” Max asked.
“Ye… yeah. A maid, it was a maid, she stabbed me.” She replied. This time her voice was getting louder.
“Can you explain in detail?” Axel asked softly and she glanced at him.
“Hmm.” She moaned in response.
“I… I was thirsty and I went to the kitchen to get water, I was done and about to leave when a maid showed up at the entrance. She was crying and she said she was sorry, she was threatened with her son. She said they said they would hurt him, before I could ask her what was wrong, she brought out a knife and stabbed me.” Lily explained and Axel exchanged looks with Max.
“Can you recognize this maid? Do you see her around the house frequently?” Max asked.
“Yeah. She is part of the maids who dish out our meals.” Lily replied and Nora looked at Axel and Max who kept exchanging looks.
Nora wasn’t new to what her brother was involved in, she knew about it all.
“Do you two have anything to do with this?” Nora asked and they ignored her question.
“Can you give a description of the maid?” Axel asked.
“She is about my height, she has black hair mixed with a little brown colour, she is a little bit fat and looks like she is in her mid-thirties.” Lily described and Axel nodded.
Out of curiosity and worry, Lily asked a question.
“Why did she stab me? Does someone want me dead?” She asked.
“No, of course not.” Nora hurriedly answered. She knows Lily would believe anything they said, it would be better to tell Lily a lie than the truth.
“The reason Axel asked you to describe the maid is because one of the maids isn’t so well. Sometimes she sees things and acts irrational.” Nora explained and Max glanced at Nora.
He felt sorry for Lily, she was just too gullible. This world isn’t meant for someone like her, she can never survive on her own.
“Oh, I thought someone wanted me dead.” She replied and Axel shook his head.
“No one wants you dead. Nora is right.” Axel added and she smiled a little.
“Nora will stay here with you. I and Max have to be somewhere real quick.” Axel said as he stood up.
“Where? Are you coming back?” Lily asked. She had forgotten she was mad at him, she just wanted him to stay with her. Somehow, she feels safe around him.
“Somewhere close by and I will be back soon.” He replied.
“Okay.” She muttered in response and Axel walked out with Max.
“Do you know who did it?” Max asked as they walked towards the elevator.
“Yes.” Axel replied as he brought out his phone.
“Who did it?”
“Sergei.”
