Lily folded her arms and looked out the window as Axel drove, as upset as she was, she still admired everything Axel drove past that she thought was beautiful.
It was late already, Lily was tired, upset, and hungry. She made sure she didn’t talk to Axel all day even though it was really hard for her, she was mad at him for letting her stay and see things she wasn’t supposed to see.
She couldn’t wait till they got home so she could have dinner and finally get some rest.
After what seemed like forever to her, Axel drove into the mansion and parked the car. Immediately, she got out of the car and entered the house.
She didn’t bother to go up to her room to change into comfortable wear, she headed straight to the dining room.
Dinner was already ready, she took a seat immediately and started to eat. She wasn’t expecting Axel and he also didn’t show up till she was done with her meal.
She headed to her room when she was done, due to how exhausted she was, she changed her clothes, lay on her bed, and fell asleep in minutes.
THE NEXT DAY
MORNING
Lily heard a familiar voice in her sleep, she decided to ignore it since she wasn’t ready to get out of bed yet.
She heard the giggle again and she exhaled heavily, she slowly opened her eyes and sat up to see Nora sitting at the edge of her bed with her phone in her hand.
She seemed to be enjoying the chat with whoever she was texting.
‘Why is she here so early?’
‘Is she here to get me ready for something?’
‘Is she just visiting randomly?’ She thought.
She yawned and let out a moan, Nora finally noticed her and she smiled.
“Hey, Lily.” Nora called.
“Hey.” She replied tiredly.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to wake you up.” Nora apologised and Lily smiled at her.
“Oh, it’s fine.” She replied.
“Are you here to get me ready for an event or something?” Lily asked.
“No. I just came here so we can hang out a little, Axel left for work already. I was just thinking you might be bored or something.” Nora explained and Lily smiled.
“That’s nice. So, where are we going?” She asked.
“Well, a friend of mine is having a party. She is celebrating her success in a new project she was working on, I was thinking you could come with me.”
“Of course. I will go get ready.” Lily replied and got off the bed then headed into the bathroom.
Nora drove her car out of the mansion, Lily was in the passenger seat looking beautiful as always.
She was dressed in a simple outfit, Nora informed her it wasn’t something so serious, it was just a normal party.
The drive was silent, no one had anything to say. They arrived at the place and Lily looked around as Nora pulled her car over, it was a mansion, not as huge as Axel’s own though but it was big and pretty.
“Come on.” Nora said as she got out and Lily also did.
“How long will this party last?” Lily asked as they walked to the front door.
“A couple or more.” Nora replied and she nodded.
They got into the house and Lily gulped as she saw different beautiful and classy ladies. They all looked elegant in their dresses and she started to feel inferior.
She wished she dressed in more fancy clothes so she could fit in too, their definition of simple screamed classy and expensive.
Lily started to feel something was going to go wrong.
“Hey.” Nora called and held her hand.
“Come on, we need to meet others and have fun.” Nora said and she nodded.
The party went on and Lily loved it, turns out Nora had good friends, none of them looked down on her and she was more respected and treated with care because she is a Blackwell and Axel’s wife.
The party ended after a few hours and Nora headed out with Lily. As she drove, she informed Lily she wouldn’t be going back to the mansion with her, she had something to do but she would drop Lily at Axel’s estate.
Lily was cool with it. Nora dropped her off and she headed home herself. In minutes, she arrived at the mansion and made her way in.
She walked into the living room and paused when she saw Axel and Max having an argument.
They weren’t aware she was in the living so she paused and stared at them.
“It is your fault. It is your fault we are in this mess.” Max said and Axel rolled his eyes.
“When everything was going smoothly, no one had a complaint but now that there is a little problem, it is my fault.” Axel replied.
“Little? You call this little? We lost millions of dollars.” Max replied with his voice high a little.
“Enough of this, what are we going to do about it?” Axel asked and Max scoffed.
“What else? We fucking kill him and get what we want.” Max replied and Lily rolled her eyes.
‘Is killing normal in the lives of billionaires?” She thought.
She was tired of their conversation already so she cleared her throat, they both turned to her and Max smiled while Axel ran his eyes on her body.
“Lily.” He called happily.
“Hi.” She replied coldly and headed towards the stairs.
“Is she still mad?” Max asked but Axel ignored his question.
“Get ready. We will do what we have to do tonight.” Axel said and Max nodded.
“I will be back here in two hours.” He replied and Axel nodded in response.
Lily got into her room and took a shower, after that, she lay on her bed to rest for a while but instead, she fell asleep.
Lily coughed repeatedly from her sleep and she slowly opened her eyes, she sat up and coughed again. Her throat was dry and she needed water.
She got off the bed and looked out the window, she realized it was night already.
She walked out of her room and noticed it was quiet.
‘Did I sleep that long?’ She thought as she walked in the hallway.
The whole house was so silent, she could hear a pin if it dropped. She walked down the stairs and got to the living room, there were no maids around and the lights were dimmed.
She needed no one to tell her it was midnight already. She headed straight to the kitchen to get some water.
She got to the kitchen and poured herself a glass of water, she leaned on the counter and gulped the water.
She poured herself another glass and gulped it slowly this time.
She suddenly heard footsteps and she paused and looked at the kitchen entrance.
“Who is there?” She asked but got no response. She concluded that she was just hearing things so she continued gulping.
She was done and headed out of the kitchen, she was about to step out when a maid showed up in front of her with tears in her eyes and her mouth quivering.
“I’m so sorry ma’am. They threatened me with my son. They said they would hurt him, I am so sorry.” The maid pleaded and before Lily could give a response, she pulled out a knife and stabbed her in her stomach.
Lily let out a gasp with her eyes widening in shock, the maid cried as blood gushed out of Lily’s stomach.
“I’m sorry ma’am. I am really sorry.” She cried and let go of the knife, she hurried away and Lily gasped.
Tears blurred her vision as she felt an unbearable pain, she held the knife in her stomach as she fell to the ground.
She felt a searing hot pain explode through her abdomen. A strangled cry escaped her lips as the pain overwhelmed her, and her vision began to blur and narrow, like a tunnel closing in.
Her head spun, and she felt herself floating away. She tried to call out for help but her voice was silenced by a creeping darkness.
Her eyes fluttered closed, and she succumbed to the void, losing all sense of time and space.
