Zoey p. o. v
Five months later…..
I held on to Alice as she assisted me down the stairs, I am round and full now that I’m in my third trimester. I feel heavier and bigger for obvious reasons, my feet are the worst of them all as they are fuller.
“Ouch.” I hissed, baby kicked my abdomen again. The pain wasn’t unbearable, but was still pain.
“The baby kick again?” Alice asked, small smile playing on her lips.
“Hmm.” I hummed, rubbing my left palm over the place, soothing it.
“It’s a healthy child.” Alice commented. “Be a good child and don’t stress mummy too much, okay?” She spoke softly, bending close to my stomach.
It moved again, but this time it didn’t kick, more like a wave of hand to say okay. I giggled at the movement, it’s one of the moments that keeps me going.
This kind of moments did greatly remind me of Marco, and how his lack of presence has impacted our lives deeply. When I was with Adriano, he would speak to him, telling him how eager he was for him. Sometimes he would gently lift my stomach to relieve me off the weight, sometimes massage my swollen feet.
This made me missed him so much, it pained me that he won’t be here to witness his daughter’s birth. The daughter he has always wanted.
Yes, I’ve gone for gender reveal, and it’s a girl, our little princess.
“Ma’am are you alright?” Alice’s voice brought me back to the present, she must have noticed the change in my expression. “You’re doing great, he would be happy to see how strong you’re for the kids.” She consoled.
I just gave a tight smile, my heartbreaking at her words. I tried not to think about him too much, since I’m at a critical period with child, the doctor advised I should try to free my mind.
I’m just grateful for the support I’ve gotten from both my families and friends, they’ve been the support system that I needed to go through this phase of my life.
My mom and mother-in-law both has moved here, their excuse was that they want to take proper care of me.
I entered the kitchen, the spicy aroma was what dragged me out of my room in the first place. I have been craving spicy food lately, anything spicy count me in.
“Momma.” Adriano was the first to see me enter, he was seating on the counter and fanning his mouth with his small hand. His other hand held a piece of meat, the sauce from the meat staining his cheeks.
My son is a lover of good food, he’s a large eater even at this age.
“You are here.” Camila said her back to me, busy with her cooking.
“I have to.” I snickered, Camila wailed in laughter at my response. She knew my craves for spicy foods, so of course I had to be here.
“Take your seat, and get ready to be blown away.” She has turned into my personal chef, always ready to prepare anything I want.
I didn’t have to be told twice, Alice helped to get comfortable on a chair.
“Thank you.” I told her.
“I want to seat close to momma.” Adriano stretched out his hand for him to be brought over.
Alice brought him over and dropped him on the counter right in front of me. He bent over, rubbing his small hands over my swollen stomach.
“Baby.” He
“Yeah, that’s your little sister.” I told him, ruffling his hair.
“I want to play with her.” He was busy patting and rubbing softly on my stomach, his focus gaze studying my clothed stomach.
“Soon, baby, soon.” I can’t wait to have both my kids running around the house, too bad Marco isn’t here to witness this.
“Really?” He is excited about having a sibling, I know how it feels to be an only child. It could get boring at times, frustrating even.
I nod at him, his contiguous grin spread a smile on my face.
“And here you are, your delicacy.” Camila dropped the plate in front of me, a plate of Crispy rice salad, chicken wings and hot sauce.
I licked my lips at the water mouthing sight, my mouth hasn’t rested since I woke up, but I’m still tasty for more food. I didn’t waste any second as I dug in, one, I was famished, two it was a spicy chicken wings sauce, of course, I had to devour it.
“Donna.” Matthew came in, he was carrying a take-out bag. “Here is the chocolate ice cream you requested for.” He dropped it in front of me.
Matthew has insisted he on calling me Donna, Marco’s Dad has taken over the Don position and training Luciano for it. So naturally, I’m no longer the Donna, but Matthew and the rest of Marco’s men kept on calling me that.
“Thank you.” I said mouth full of meat, abandoning the food I was eating, gawking at the ice cream.
I’ve had this craving since last night, but I would rather not stress anybody more than I have already done. I close my eyes as the heavenly goodness melt on my tongue.
“Hmm.” I moan satisfied. Alice and Camila chuckled at my expense.
“Momma, I want some too.” Adriano tugged on my arm. I gesture for Camila to give him spoon, he immediately dug in.
“Donna, I will excuse myself, I have a job to do.” Matthew said with a nod and left.
