Arabella’s POV
From the corner of my eyes, I could see his friends walking over and I knew that they would soon be leaving which means that I’ll soon be getting out of this house.
I just have to hold on for a few more minutes and I’ll be out of here. I don’t know how long I can keep this up. My body is aching with need and I can feel the liquid pool between my legs as the scent of my arousal hits me pretty hard.
I never felt this way around our Alphas son Richard. I never even knew that he was my mate until he said those hurtful words to me and rejected me.
Back in my former pack, I was always around the packhouse and Richard is never too far away from me but I never yearned for Richard as I do for this stranger that’s staring at me through the window of the car.
There is something special about him and it seems to be quite intriguing but I can’t let myself fall for it. I don’t want to have anything to do with him any other werewolf.
I sat in my car and focused only phone, ignoring him completely. As soon as his guys arrived, they got into the car and zoomed off immediately.
As soon as he left that vicinity, I felt a sharp pain in my chest. It felt like all the air was sucked out of the car and I started hyperventilating as I pushed the door open and stepped out of the car, trying to catch my breath.
“We need our mate, Arabella.” Phoenix whispered quietly as Debbie ran over and tried to hold me up. She kept rubbing my back gently as she asked me several questions that I couldn’t even hear.
I could tell that Phoenix is feeling weak once more and I also wondered if she’s doing this to me on purpose. Maybe she’s trying to punish me for pushing him away.
I don’t know how I had felt when I was first rejected but I know that Richard’s rejection really hurt me because he also beat me up and screwed his girlfriend in my presence.
But am sure that what am feeling right now is ten times worse than what I had felt before. I felt like I was being choked to death.
It went on for some minutes and then all of a sudden, it stopped just as quickly as it had begun and I felt fine again.
“What was that all about?? Did you just try to kill me??” I asked Phoenix in anger.
“It wasn’t me Arabella, It’s you. I would never hurt you Bells. But you have to listen to me. We need our mate, without him, our powers would not be stable, it could kill us.” she said sadly.
I ignored her sad comment and I turned around to face a startled looking Debbie. She stood behind me looking so terrified and the guys also look quite aghast as they all waited to see my next reaction.
“You can wipe that horrible look from your face Debbs, am fine now.” I teased her with a wink.
“Don’t ever do that again Bells, you scared the shit out of me.” she scolded me angrily.
“Am sorry for startling you all, I guess I was reacting to something. Am not really a friend of the woods so let’s just get the fuck out of this house.” I stated brusquely as I got back into the car and started it immediately.
The guys bought the story but Debbie knew that something was up. She was keeping a close eye on me, giving me weird looks as we drove back to my studio to drop the guys.
She couldn’t say or ask me any weird questions until the guys are out of the equation. We wouldn’t want to say something that could expose my secret to them.
When we got to the studio, they stepped down and got all the equipment down. As soon as they went inside, Debbie turned to me with a horrified look,
“Alright, spill it all out Arabella. Don’t even hide anything from me. Are you in danger?? Were they sent to get you??” she kept on asking.
“Well, am not in any danger right now per se. I’ll only be in danger if he comes back to claim me. I don’t think he was sent to come to get me. Am sure that he doesn’t know who I am. If they were sent for me, they would have knocked you all out and dragged me back to our Alpha, or worse still, they would have taken me back to the king.” I explained.
“Then why do think he’ll come back for you??” she asked once more.
“Unfortunately for me, it turns out that he is my mate. Am supposed to accept him as my mate but I pretended not to feel our bond. I don’t know if he’s going to come after me. If he does, I’ll just tell him why we can’t be together.
As an Alpha, am sure he wouldn’t want to go against the king so he will definitely reject me and go back to his pack and find a suitable mate. I just pray that he doesn’t tell anyone about me. I don’t want to have anything to do with them.
Let’s just keep our fingers crossed. He’s an Alpha and I did not respect his authority. He wouldn’t want a disrespectful mate.” I said convincingly. I don’t even know if am trying to convince her of myself. Most Alphas would have abandoned me and searched for another mate but not this particular one.
He’s just too determined and he looks like someone that doesn’t take no for an answer. I really don’t know how am going to avoid him when next we meet. He may not be so patient and understanding next time so I have to come up with a plan so I don’t get into trouble with him.
“What if he insists on having you?? What are you going to say to Declan?? You know he wouldn’t let you go without a fight, right??” she asked.
Jeez!!!
I haven’t even thought of how I would explain this whole situation to Declan. I’ve never told him about my secret. I just can’t tell him that am a werewolf, I don’t know how he’s going to take it considering the fact that we just started dating few weeks ago.
Oh wait, I forgot to tell you about Declan and I didn’t I??
Well, He asked me out a few weeks ago and I gladly accepted him to be my boyfriend. We’ve been friends for a while now and I kinda like him a lot. At first, I never thought that he would ever have a serious date because he keeps dating different girls and he always flaunts them around town. That’s how he got to be called, the city playboy.
But for the past three months or so, he’s been behaving quite nicely. Three weeks ago, he finally opened up to me that he actually stopped his wayward lifestyle because of me.
We’ve been dating ever since and he’s been so loving and caring, just that, I just couldn’t trust him with my secret yet. He wouldn’t be able to handle the truth. Besides, we still have to build our love and trust for each other first, our secrets can come up later on.
For now, though, I simply want to live a quiet life and enjoy the love of a guy for the very first time in my life.
“I don’t know Debbs. I can’t let him find out about all this crazy stuff. He’ll probably run the other way and never look back. I’ll sort it out quietly without his knowledge and we’ll just go on living our happy lives with no problems.” I said cheerfully, trying to sound hopeful.
“If I keep saying it, maybe I’ll actually believe it.”
Talking about Declan, we have a date tonight. It is actually our first official date since we started dating. I have been so busy at the studio lately and he has also been busy handling some projects for his father.
We’re finally going to spend time with each other today and am so looking forward to it.
“Get that dirty thought away from your mind.”
I ain’t planing anything nasty. Declan has been such a gentleman and he has never asked me for sex or anything of that sort. We’ve been taking it slowly and I intend to keep it that way until am ready to go further.
We’re having dinner at my hotel before we head out to one of his clubs to have a fun filled night. He has three night clubs in this city and he’s planning to buy another one that’s going to be the best of them all because it’s in a very strategic location with high traffic and it has top notch performances and other entertainment and fun facilities.
His other clubs are doing quite great but this particular one is going to be the best, that is why I encouraged him to go for it. Soon, my boyfriend would be the proud owner of the best night club in the city, just like I own the best hotels in the city.
I dropped Debbie at my other hotel so she can begin her normal rounds. She always goes to all the hotels to check on their daily performance. I would send the car back for her later because she didn’t leave the house with her car.
I left her to her job and drove over to my hotel to go prepare for my date. Since we’ll be meeting here, I plan to dress up in my suite. There’s absolutely no need to head back home to dress up because everything I need is right here in my suite.
I don’t usually use this suite always but It’s always there waiting for me whenever I need it. Those are the perks of being the boss and I love every moment of it.
When I got into the hotel’s premises, I parked at my reserved parking space then I got out of my car and made my way to the hotel’s entrance.
I could feel it again, Phoenix is no longer sad and grumpy like she was before we got here and I felt that gust of wind that makes my body tense up and alerts me of danger.
I stilled in my movement and looked around but I couldn’t find anyone or anything that could pose danger to me and there was absolutely nothing to worry about so I turned around and headed inside the hotel.
Phoenix is howling happily once more and I just don’t know why. If I didn’t know better I would think that that Alpha is somewhere around here.
That’s would be quite impossible. I mean, what are the chances that I’ll run into him twice today??
That would only mean that he’s been stalking me and it’s going to be quite weird.
