Isabella
“Muffin,” He called me again, the same name I had told him I didn’t want to hear.
“Isabel,” He knocked on my door and I sighed, before going to open it.
“Isa,” He stopped and brought his hands down while looking at me.
“Hey,” He said calmly, but immediately I heard that high-pitched sound in my head like a whistle, and immediately “hey,” Continued to echo in my head like I had heard them before, but from his voice, from him.
“Ahh,” I groaned and held my head, about to fall, when he caught me halfway, and I felt my head land on his chest.
“Are you okay?” He said and slowly carried me to the bed.
“I’m fine,” I said as I sat on the bed, while he gave me the bottle of water in my room.
“Why are you here?” I asked him and closed the bottle with its cap.
“Please don’t listen to whatever Lily said,” He told me and I sighed, going deep into thought.
I felt weird around her, not in a good or bad way, but it was just there. When she told me I kidnapped her, I was stunned and intrigued to know what happened.
When she revealed everything I didn’t believe her, I couldn’t bring myself to, but when she said I hated him, and maybe that’s why I needed to protect myself, it felt true, it felt really reasonable.
“Maybe she was the love of his life, maybe I came here to make him suffer,” I thought in my head, sighing heavily.
“Isabella,” I felt someone shake my body, and immediately I returned back to reality. I looked to notice his hands wad on mine, and immediately I yanked them away glaring at him.
“Do not believe her,” He said and I sighed.
“Can I ask you something?” I looked at him.
“Go on,” He said and stared deeply at me.
“Was there any truth, even an atom of truth in what she said?” I asked him, he looked at me conflicted.
“Don’t lie to me,” I pointed my hands at him. I wanted to know, I couldn’t tell for myself, but I felt indifferent toward him even despite all the memories and thoughts I had heard about him.
“Isabella,” he shook his head and called out my name, while he looked at me with sadness in his eyes.
“Please, do not lie,” I added and sluggishly nod his head.
“Oh my God,” I burst into tears, and I didn’t know why I cried.
Was it because I may have kidnapped her? Or that I hated him? Or maybe because I thought he was a liar? Or because she was supposed to be his wife? Or the fact that maybe he was and still is in love with her?
“I kidnapped her?” It was more a realization than a question to him.
“Do you love her?” A tear dropped.
“Were you in love with her?” It came out as a whisper.
“Isabella,” he called my name calmly and shook his head, but it felt like he was trying to be careful of what time said to me.
“Do not listen to her,” He stated and I laughed.
He didn’t reply, he said nothing. I didn’t know what to think, maybe I was right after all, maybe I was the villain ruining their happy life cause of my hatred for him.
“I’m going to send her away,” He added immediately.
“She’s supposed to be your wife, so she stays,” I said sternly to him.
“What?” He looked at me surprised.
“You heard me, she’s not going anywhere,” I stood up and immediately walked out of the room, while he followed behind me, calling out my name, but I didn’t respond to him.
I asked Rose to help organize the guest room for Lily until she gets settled in.
“Thank you so much for forgiving him,” She said to me staring at me warmly.
“It’s okay, I guess you were right,” I told her. I was helping her get comfortable, I was doing another woman a favor after ruining what was supposed to be the happiest day of her life, but it felt so wrong.
Why did it feel that way? I’m supposed to be happy, this was maybe a way to fix the mess I caused and allow them to be together, one I took away from them, but it didn’t feel good, I didn’t feel happy, nor did it feel right at all.
“You are so kind, considering that you were my replacement,” she stated with a sad face, staring at me. But immediately I heard that high-pitched sound in my head and I staggered backward holding my head.
“Are you alright?” She asked as I held my head, squeezing my eyes.
“Excuse me,” I said and walked away from the room. I groaned in pain as I heard the word repeat in my heart like an echo, but this time it was my voice I heard.
“Did I say it to myself?” I thought quickly grabbing a bottle of water, as I exhaled and inhaled trying to calm my nerves.
“Replacement,” I said immediately I calmed down.
“What does it mean?” I whispered thinking deeply, but I couldn’t tell. All I knew was that the word made me really angry.
*dinner time*
We were all seated in the dining room when our food was served. I sat across the table, while sat close to Tristan. She would share the sound of her food with him, or eat from his plate, and I just watched quietly.
“Why are you being so cold?” She whispered to him, and I just looked at my plate instead of them.
” What is it, Lily?” He groaned, but she chuckled instead.
“Relax, Isabella already forgave you,” She told him, and I lifted my head to find her fingers rubbing his face.
“Shut up,” He glared at her.
“She gave us blessings so we could be together, right Isabella?” She asked me, staring at me, and immediately my fork fell from my hands. I bent down to pick it from the floor, and behold I saw her legs rubbing his, while her other hands trailed on his thighs, causing my eyes to widen.
“Isabella,” she called, and my head hit the table a bit as I rushed to get up.
“Ouch,” I rubbed my head, in pain.
“Are you okay?” Tristan asked looking at me.
“Yes, you have my blessing,” I nodded my head and forced a smile on my lips, before leaving the dining room, cause I was tearing up and I didn’t know why.
