Isabella
It’s been a week of living with Lily Allen. Tristan had barely had time for another attempt to make me remember and it made me sad.
“I don’t care,” I would lie to myself anytime nothing happened. “You did the right thing by letting him go,” I will tell myself even though it never felt that way at all. I. Would hear him and Lily arguing at the top of their voice, but every time I saw them together, it was in an awkward position which told me otherwise.
Like last time, Tristan had threatened to kill her and I heard a loud thud cron my room, but when I rushed to Lily’s room, they were on the bed and Lily was being chocked by him, but immediately she saw me she moaned out immediately, causing me to run away in shock.
Tristan tried to explain that the scene was different from whatever I thought it was, but the truth was I didn’t believe him. It wasn’t different, it was exactly what I saw it was which made me conclude that they were definitely a thing.
I got ready for the evening dinner Lily had organized for Tristan’s family today. I wore a Satin maxi dress with a high collar, it was in the color blue. I paired it with a silver heel, wore my earrings, and brushed my hair letting it rest on my shoulders.
I walked downstairs and there he was standing and waiting for me. I brushed my hands on the railings and the whole scene felt familiar. I blinked my eyes, cause it felt as if I could see something stretched out their hands to me in my head, but I couldn’t see the face.
I got down from the last two steps with his help, and his eyes never mine.
“You look,” His eyes shone brightly as he looked at me.
“Breathtaking,” We both said at the same time, and he looked at me shocked.
“Tristan,” Lily called and immediately I walked to the backyard where the dinner was happening.
“How did I know that?” I thought it didn’t make any sense to me, but how did I know he was going to say that, I thought silently and sat down, when everyone started to walk in.
“We’ve done this before but maybe it would help you remember something,” Tristan said introducing his family to me and everyone at the table.
“And he’s Brett, we don’t like him,” He pointed at Brett, who had a sleek haircut.
“You do love me,” He stated and I suddenly felt irritated by what he said.
“And that’s Mr George,” he said and I looked at him.
“I’ve seen you before, you were in my room,” I said to him, and he smiled warmly at me.
“How are you doing?” He said in a dry tone.
“He’s Tristan’s father,” Lily said immediately.
“Where did you see him?” Tristan asked with fear and worry in his eyes.
“In the hospital, when I woke up,” I told him. The truth was, Mr. George just stood afar staring at me for close to an hour before leaving. At first, I was scared, but later on, I didn’t feel afraid of him anymore.
“What were you doing in her room? What did you go looking for her?” Tristan grabbed his neck and yelled at him and my body shook in fear at the sight..
“Dominic Tristan Dominic,” Grandfather yelled his name and banged his head on the table when Tristan immediately pulled his hands away.
“You guys are scaring my granddaughter,” he looked at me with concern, and immediately Tristan and Mr. George turned to stare at me with apologies written all over their faces.
“Come with me, Mr. George,” Tristan said and pulled him away.
“Excuse me,” I stood up to leave when Grandfather stood up as well.
“Are you okay?” He asked me, and I nodded my head staring at the floor, as we stood at one corner away from the ears of others.
“I think I need to apologize for our last meeting,” he said and I lifted my head to look at him in shock.
“What?” I said barely audibly.
“Our meeting last time, you don’t recall it yet, but I was not nice to you,” He sighed looking remorseful.
“This past month, with everything that has happened to you and how much it had affected Tristan, it made me think a lot. I just want to let you know that our deal is off and Tristan is yours,” He stated.
“We had a deal?” It didn’t make sense to me.
“Yes, but you are not Tristan’s replacement, you are his wife, that’s all you need to know,” He patted my back and I felt my eyes tear up hearing that. It felt good, it felt like I had won and it felt like I’ve wanted to hear that for a long while too.
“Excuse me,” I said and immediately walked away from the backyard sniffing in, as I tried to fight the tears. I climbed upstairs and as I approached my room, I heard whispers in Tristan’s study, making me halt immediately.
“What were you doing there huh?” I heard Tristan’s voice, as I hid at the wall listening to their conversation.
“You need to calm down son,” Tristan’s father said to him.
“I am not your son,” Tristan yelled.
“And you have no right, absolutely none to call me son,” He added, and I used my palm to close my mouth.
“Now why were you in her hospital room?” He asked again.
“There was no reason, I just wanted to see her, ” his father said immediately.
“See her? Were you trying to kill her again? Huh?” Tristan yelled.
“Did you try to finish it up since you failed the last time? Huh? Answer me,” Tristan yelled again and I shivered.
“Lily is still the best option to win over Brett,” He said changing the topic completely.
“What are you talking about?” Tristan asked.
“Listen, son,” He started but Tristan cut him off.
“I don’t care about Lily, all I care about is Isabella,” he said in a pitched tone
” I would never hurt Isabella, instead I’m grateful to her,” He responds immediately.
“Then why we’re you there,” Tristan asked.
“Because I wanted to see if she was fine, I was worried about her,” He sighed.
“Pttt, like I would believe you have the heart to worry,” Tristan chuckled insanely.
“I am not asking you to, and I didn’t plan on letting you know about it,” Mr. George said boldly.
“Don’t you ever go near my wife again,” Tristan’s voice was deep, and you could hear the seriousness and anger he said that with.
“And Lily? Isn’t she supposed to be the wife now?” Mr George said.
“Did you send Lily to me?” Tristan asked instead.
“Yes I did, because that’s the only way you would have an upper hand against Brett,” Mr. George rushed his words.
“Are you kidding me?” Tristan said frustrated.
“I’m trying to help you here, you should be grateful. Else Brett would take everything from you,” It was Mr. George’s turn to yell, and I moved closer listening to them.
“Excuse you? You’re trying to help me by imposing an alliance with Lily Allen. One I never wanted in the first place,” Tristan scoffed.
“Yes, get the inheritance, then you could divorce her,” Mr. George said.
“You are crazy,” Tristan said immediately.
“Can you hear yourself? That woman cheated on me with Brett,” He yelled and I gasped and quickly covered my mouth before they could hear me.
“It doesn’t matter son, take this as an opportunity to take your revenge on the both of them,” He said so casually.
“Can you hear yourself? You are definitely crazy” Tristan chuckled
“What kind of father are you even? Do you call this care? Is this your way of showing affection?” Tristan yelled.
“Then what option do you have? Are you going to just lose to Brett? Your emotions don’t matter in business son, you can’t be weak at all,” His father explain to him.
“I won’t do it, I will find a way that doesn’t involve your crazy idea,” He stated in a reduced voice.
“What?” His father said shocked.
“Yes you heard me, there would be another way to beat Brett and I’ll find it,” Tristan repeated.
“There is no other way Tristan,” His father paused immediately.
“Unless,”
“Unless what?” Curiosity laced in Tristan’s voice, as he urged his father to speak.
“Unless you produce an heir,” His father said immediately, and Tristan hissed immediately.
“That’s not a solution,” He stated.
“You need to get an heir, that would be an advantage to you son,” His father’s mood brightened.
“Think about it son, this is a great idea,” His father said all excited but Tristan didn’t seem so thrilled.
” Think about it, a baby is going to convince the board and grandfather that you are family oriented and make you the winning party,” His father voiced out
“Do you think grandfather is serious about the heir,” He asked, as if skeptical.
“Your grandfather loves family, so make it happen, get an heir, and prevent Brett from taking everything away from you,” It felt like his father was instilling the idea of making an heir to Tristan.
“Think about it,” He instigated him, as I peeped into the room, to find Tristan standing there confused.
“I will be outside,” His father said turning around to leave, and I immediately ran away to the backyard before he noticed I was listening.
