“Who are you?” She looked at him weirdly and he just halted in shock.
“What?” He looked at Ava and then at the doctor, staring at them confused as he tried to confirm if they also heard that.
“It’s me, Isabella, it’s Tristan,” He said smiling at her as he took a step towards her, but immediately Isabella shook her head and moved in away in fright.
“Stay away from me,” She screamed out, while Tristan halted in fear.
“Muffin,” he called out staring at his wife who was scared of him. She looked so scared of him, that it hurt his heart.
“I’m your husband,” He stated, standing a bit far away from her.
“I don’t know you,” She shook her head.
“Ava who is this man?” She pointed at him freaking out.
“Isabel, it’s me,” He poked his chest trying to get closer to her but this time screamed.
“Take him away,” She shook her head hyperventilating.
“Ava, take him away,” He moved backward, looking at her worried and scared as he wondered what was going on with her.
“Mr. Tristan you need to leave,” The doctor immediately pushed him away to the door, as he called on the nurses to check on her.
“You too, miss” The doctor referred to Ava, as she left the room stunned while staring at Isabella until the white the door against.
“Tristan,” she called out, but he had already bent to the floor, using his both hands to rub his head thinking and worried.
“What’s going on? She doesn’t even recognize me,” He said frustrated as his eyes were bloodshot red.
“It’s going to be alright, let’s hear from the doctor first,” Ava said pacing around the hallway worried about the incident that occurred.
After a few minutes, the doctor walked out of the room with the nurses, and immediately Tristan and Ava rushed to him.
“What’s going on with her?” Tristan asked immediately, and Doctor Eddie sighed heavily.
“I can’t say for sure sir,” He managed to respond, trying to avoid more questions from them.
“What do you mean by that?” Tristan was already angry by his response.
“I can’t say yet,” He raised his hands in the air and tried to move to another oath away from the both of them, but immediately Tristan grabbed him by the collar and pinned him to the wall.
“What the heck are you saying? What do you mean by you can’t say yet? Huh?” Tristan yelled at him, frightening the man, while Ava was shocked and rushed to Tristan.
“Please calm down Tristan,” She begged him calmly, trying to take his hands away from the doctor’s color.
“I still need to run more tests, before I can say anything,” The man managed to say, as he coughed out immediately Tristan let go of him.
“Thank you, doctor, please let us know once the test results are ready,” Ava gave him a small smile, and pulled Tristan away from him.
“I think you need to get some air,” She sighs.
“I can’t leave Isabella in this state,” He groaned and blew raspberries.
“I’ll be with her till you get back, and if there’s an emergency you’re the first person I’ll call,” she gave him a small smile while he nodded his head.
“Thank you,” He sighed and turned around to leave.
“Hold on,” She called him back.
“Don’t forget this,” She handed over the polythene bag with breakfast for him.
“Thank you for this too,” He smiled and waved at her before leaving the hospital. Ava sighed as she watched his figure slowly disappear from her sight before she walked back to the room Isabella was in to find her sleeping.
Tristan got into the car and sighed, the whole reaction from Isabella played in his head. It wasn’t his him, she looked genuinely scared of him. She looked at him like he was going to hurt her or something.
“Why did that happen?” He asked himself and bit his lower lips very worried. He hit the sterling wheels frustrated, when his phone rang.
“Yes,” He spoke over the phone. He was speaking with his secretary, she’s been filling Isabella’s space I’m the office.
“Sir you have a meeting with the oil and gas shareholders in an hour,” She said and he cursed silently as he had completely forgotten about the meeting.
“I’ll be at the office shortly,” She said and started the car engine immediately. This meeting was important else he was only going to give Brett the upper hand. He drove speedily while dialing Dylan’s number to make sure he was going to be present.
He arrived on time, got to the office, and got into the meeting room before the other shareholders arrived.
Brett walked in confidently into the meeting room but halted the moment he saw Dylan speaking with Tristan.
“What is he doing here?” He eyed Dylan while staring at Tristan waiting for a response.
“He’s part of the board, what do you mean?” Tristan narrowed his gaze at Brett who scoffed immediately.
“What, that’s not true, because I,” He coughed realizing what he was about to say.
“What? Your throat got sore,” Tristan chuckled.
“Or you want to say you stole private documents and had bought out everyone’s share on this table, except for his,” a wicked smile appeared on Tristan’s lips.
“You’re bluffing,” Brett folded his hands, trying to hide his shaky fingers.
“You’re about to find out,” Tristan smiled at him when the door opened and a few more shareholders joined them before the meeting officially started.
Tristan talked out the future of the Dominic group and the JBC brand as a whole, reminding them how they started with his grandfather, the growth, and how he is going to carry on that legacy in achieving the company’s goal and dream.
While Brett made his presentation, talking about how much impact he has made, the time Tristan was away and distracted by feelings when he had people’s needs and dreams to cater to, but didn’t.
The talk and debate went on, and when he pointed out the amount of shares he had acquired during that short period.
Brett thought he was at the top and was already the winner with this, when Dylan rose on his feet, revealing himself as the lady’s secret shareholder.
“I’ll be selling my shares to Tristan,” He said ignoring the whispers that went on in the room.
“What? You can’t do that, it’s,” Brett said nervously looking at his grandfather and Mr. George for help, but grandfather was already in support of his favorite grandson.
“But I can,” Dylan smiled.
“But the world would..,” He looked over at Mr. George who just sighed.
“Yes makes both your shares equal and makes this s tie, thank you,” Dylan said glaring at him.
“But grandfather..,” His voice cracked as the whispering went on.
“It’s a tie son,” his grandfather said, and stood on his feet, while everyone rose on their feet too, and did a light bow before he left.
“I guess this meeting is over, right?” Tristan said and looked at his phone expecting a text message but he got nothing yet.
“What, no?” Brett was frustrated as everyone started to leave, including Tristan and Dylan.
“You think you won, huh?” Brett said glaring at Tristan.
“No cousin,” Tristan rolled his eyes.
“It was a tie, no winner no loser,” Tristan glared back at him.
“But next time, I’ll make sure you’re the only loser,” Tristan said with all seriousness looking at him in anger.
“Not for long, I promise I’m going to take everything from you, ” Brett yelled as Tristan walked away with Dylan.
“Yeah dream on,” Dylan said.
“I’ve got to go see Isabella,” Tristan breathed out thankful that the meeting ended quickly, cause his mind was clouded with Isabella.
“Let’s go,” Dylan patted his back as they left the office.
